Fitt said that Tepper is letting himself and Frank make the decision about the QB pick. Hope this is 100% true and love hearing that. If true, seems like some growth by Tepper as an owner. Hire good football people and let them do their job. What an idea.

Carolina Panthers On March 5, 2020, Smith signed a one-year contract with the Carolina Panthers.[7] On July 30, 2020, Smith was released by the Panthers.[8] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chris_Smith_(defensive_end)

So young. What a tragedy, especially for his daughter. Chris Smith, one of the key components of the West Rowan football dynasty, died at 31 on Monday. Smith’s death has been confirmed. Not much is known about the circumstances or the cause of death yet. It’s a tragic loss for his family, friends, former teammates and for Rowan County. He had been the ultimate give-back guy and had been a generous donor to local schools and projects. He stayed close to his Rowan County roots no matter where his football odyssey took him. Smith had signed a contract in March to play for the Seattle Sea Dragons of the XFL. Smith starred as a defensive end for West Rowan head football coach Scott Young during the state championship seasons of 2008 and 2009 and was Shrine Bowl Defensive MVP in 2009. Is it time to take the Falcons seriously?
ladypanther replied to Ivory Panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
Interesting info about the Smith family. Googled his father...interesting read: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frederick_W._Smith In 1962, Smith entered Yale University. While attending Yale, he wrote a paper for an economics class, outlining overnight delivery service, on which he received a “C”. Was a minority owner of the Redskins..sold out in 2021 because of Snyder. -

This is Bryce: WEAKNESSES: Vastly undersized with a slight frame – measured 204 pounds at the NFL Scouting Combine, but his playing weight is “around 190 pounds,” according to NFL scouts … minimal growth potential and doesn’t have the body type to get much bigger … his size will restrict his effectiveness operating muddy pockets and ability to slip tackles in the NFL … his pocket arm strength is closer to average than above-average … his deep ball will lose some life downfield … won’t be able to get away with holding the ball in the NFL as long as he did in college (average time to throw in 2022 was 3.02 seconds) … often welcomes chaos to buy time as a passer, raising the odds of him taking hits … 12 career fumbles … his lack of size leads to obvious durability concerns … missed one game as a junior because of a sprained AC

This guy just looks scary to me.

So, what if those contracts were just outliers? One or two owners do something extreme/dumb does not mean the rest of the owners have to do the same thing. As for Lamar, he is not a victim here of some grand conspiracy. As I mentioned in earlier...a QB in his same draft class...who has an agent (Josh Allen) to date has made over $80 mil...Lamar, who has no agent, has made a bit over $30 mill to date. Some people just make better business decisions than others.

Seems like Lamar and the Ravens are just stuck with each other. Must be a weird dynamic..

Was listening to Sirius NFL radio while in my car today. Lamar is a frequently discussed topic. They mentioned some info that had been tweeted by one of their colleagues. It compared the earnings of Lamar to Josh Allen...who was drafted in the same year. To date....Allen's earnings have been in the 80 millions. Lamar to date...in the 30's. Not having an agent has really cost him. Not to say he would have earned the same as Josh Allen...but I bet the gap would not be $50million at this point.

Ron Rivera hints he "didn't mesh" with David Tepper
ladypanther replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
And that Bieniemy can lead an offense on his own. Big year for both of them. -
lol...yes it would. Jets should take this mess as a sign they do need to move on.
-
Kraft should have gotten a competency exam for BB after that one. That was just weird and coaching malpractice. Don't like Mac Jones but that had to be awful for him...and the others on offense.

And now there are additional hints that Belichick is deeply discontent with the former first-round draft pick. Months after NBC Sports' Chris Simms suggested tension between the coach and QB got "personal" when Jones sought offensive advice from outside the Patriots' staff in 2022, Tom E. Curran reports Belichick remains "agitated" at his signal-caller. "The yelling and the gesticulations during the games was irritating enough," Curran told WEEI recently, "but going outside the building for counsel, that really pissed Bill off. ... Disloyalty, in Bill's mind, is almost worse than bad play." Jones was especially frustrated at the Patriots' offensive structure in a sloppy, injury-riddled 2022 season, Curran noted, and may have spoken with Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian, Jones' former offensive coordinator at Alabama, in an effort to improve. "(Bill)'s still pissed about it," Curran said. "How well are they gonna be able to bury the hatchet on Mac's perceived and presumed disloyalty? And does (new Patriots coordinator) Bill O'Brien rectify that? Or is Bill still itching to teach the kid a lesson?" https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/patriots-bill-belichick-still-upset-at-mac-jones-for-seeking-outside-advice-during-2022-season-per-report/
