  1. Not happening and ridiculous to think that. An owner, owns the team and pays the bills, they aren’t giving up final say if they want it. They might choose to defer but to put it writing is unlikely. Also, what kind of intervene are we talking? Weekly meeting with the coach? Going to pro day? That’s not too crazy. Making draft picks and free agency decisions? How often did he really do that?
  2. This is so overplayed. Plenty of evidence he was heavily involved but not the one making the final personal decisions. There are actual reports saying he understands he has limited football experience and often deferred to the football people around him. He didn't make all of those terrible draft picks, he just picked the guys that were terrible at it. If he picks the correct GM or coach, it won't matter if he has a weekly meeting with the coach.
  3. What exactly are these other parts of running the team?
  4. There are a few people around here who consistently make excuses for Fitt, usually along the lines of "Rhule had final say and Tepper meddles". Just because you read some article talking about Rhule having final say and micromanaging doesn't mean they are coming up with all of the bad ideas. Think about all of the bad decisions that have been made the past few years between free agency, trades and draft pick, do you honestly think none of those were Fitt's ideas? Even if a coach has final say the GM is usually the one presenting the choices to the coach. Let's say the coach wants a new player at a certain position, the GM presents what he thinks are good options to the coach and the coach then decides which one. Do you honestly think the GM is presenting a player to the coach he thinks is terrible. Same with Tepper, do people honestly think he is the one out there scouting these players, If he is deciding on a QB it's based on the info he has been given. If Tepper really liked Young more than Stroud I would guess it's because the people around him convinced him he was better, at the very least extremely close.
  5. we have some of the fewest turnovers in the league but let's don't use facts. 2023 NFL Turnover Differential | The Football Database (footballdb.com)
  6. We have some of the fewest turnovers in the league. Other defenses are having to deal with more.
  7. Go look up time of possession stats, we are actually one of the best teams in the league.
  8. Even if it was "middle of the pack" results should we be considering that DC for HC job? Also, DVOA and EPA consider the field potion battle.
  9. Borderline top ten? based on what? outside of yards per game we are bad at every other metric. We turn the ball over? How much compared to other teams? You make it sound like it more than most. Its not. We are actually 11th in the league in turnovers given. That actually helps our defense. NFL Football Stats - NFL Team Giveaways per Game | TeamRankings.com Also metrics like DVOA and EPA actually factor in turnovers and offensive performance.
  10. For all of the people who are singing the praises of our DC, what are you basing it on? Yard per game? Granted we are 3rd best in the league NFL Football Stats - NFL Team Opponent Yards per Game | TeamRankings.com but, what about points per game? We are 29th. We were actually better during the Rhule/Snow years. NFL Football Stats - NFL Team Opponent Points per Game | TeamRankings.com What about some of the advanced metrics that take into account your opponent and how your own offense is affecting your defense. DVOA: We are 27th. Total Team DVOA - NFL Football Stats (ftnfantasy.com) EPA: roughly bottom third NFL EPA Tiers | nfelo.app (nfeloapp.com)
  11. One of them graded in the 60s, which isn’t that high, which he didn’t have much competition to be in the top 5. Also you do realize when a sack or pressure is given up it usually isn't the fault of the entire line. that’s the entire point of off, they watch each player on each play, whereas most fans such as yourself just watch the ball and when you see a sack you start complaining about the entire line.
  12. In the absence of insight you are allowed to use logic. If Nicole was not in the draft room do you feel like we would not have magically not traded up for Johnson? Of course we would have still done it. Even speculating, common sense tells you we still would have. Any other guess is purely agenda driven.
  13. Do you honestly think she made the decision to trade for DJ? She made the phone call, big deal.l, she conveyed what the front office!and coaches had already decided. The GM and his staff make their big board. If we drafted him it was because the did their due diligence and thought he was good value, for a need, at that point in the draft. As far as listed as team leadership, formality to be in certain meetings. As far as the coaching search, do you think she swayed the owners decision?
  14. What major role do you think she really has?
  15. I doubt he is the only owner in the league who talks to their coaches on a weekly basis. Not to mention, if you look like the worst team in the league you might need talking to. All this meddling talk is overblown. How many draft decisions did Tepper overrule the GM (Or coach if he had final say) on?
  16. I didn't say he didn't influence or meddle, I said he probably isn't making these decisions on his own. If he liked Bryce Young its most likely because most of the front office presented Bryce as the best pick. This idea that Tepper liked Bryce and everyone else like Stroud is just stupid. There are multiple reports that Tepper admits he doesn't know the football side, especially the evaluation side. I seriously doubt he and his wife are scouting these players and creating their own big board. If we traded up for DJ Johnson it was because the front office had him high on their big board and they felt, he was a worthy pick at a position of need. In reality all of this Tepper hate has done nothing but cover up how bad the organization has done from a personnel standpoint. Just ask yourself this: If the HC, OC, GM, scouts, and Caldwell all liked Stroud more do you really think Tepper would have overruled all of them to take Bryce? Makes no sense.
  17. you people are getting trolled. The chance of actually making the decisions on her own is somewhere close to zero, let alone being the GM. Just because she makes the phone call to trade up for a player doesn't mean she is making the decisions. Do you honestly think that was her idea? That was a player that the front office and coaches wanted, she did the formality of making the call. No different if you tell a staffer to make the call.
  18. Where exactly did he say he was trying to be the smartest person in the room? He was far from the only person in the NFL who had Rhule on his radar.
  19. Serious question, what exactly has Wilson done to warrant being kept? Outside of being a name people recognize from their playing days.
  20. But how much is he really the deciding factor in their success? Doesn’t Jerry and his son have the reputation of making most of the picks?
  21. Problem is I don't see us, or any team getting one without the other.
  22. Maybe they did explain it really well, hence the reason he was OK giving up a king's ransom to move up to #1. People are acting like he is coming up with these ideas on his own. I seriously doubt he sat down and scouted the top 4 QBs by himself and then decided to move up to one on his own accord. Most likely somebody convinced him that Bryce was worth that. He might have influenced the staff to find a QB, and once they decided Bryce was QB1 he might have influenced them to go their guy, but this narrative that he alone decided Bryce was the guy is most likely false and very unlikely. Somebody or some combination of the HC, GM, OC, or Caldwell would be my guess.
  23. I'm not saying he wants to be here, but there is a chance that New England is ready for a fresh start. Bill might not get the chance to coach that top QB prospect.
  24. My guess is we go with an offensive type of coach that has a history of making young QBs work. Not sure if Bill fits that description.
