  1. As if there was ever any question. Per LeBrun, it will a 4YR/$2.9M AAV deal with some no trade language in it.
  2. Lol, his shot is the least of my concern for his career. Everyone struggles from time to time, all you have to do is pop his game on verses Scoot, he didn’t have problems shooting in that game. The concern with Wemby will always be if he can stay healthy with that small of frame.
  3. I’m guessing just his rights. It basically guarantees the team acquiring him a few extra days to ink a deal before he hits free agency. It happens from time to time.
  4. The 2023 CONCACAF Gold Cup kicks off tonight with the U.S. taking on Jamaica at 10:00PM on FS1. Most of the team is made up of B level players but there’s a few interesting names that are participating. Additionally, B.J. Callaghan will still be managing the team which is another thing to look forward to. I’ll probably flip over to the U.S. game after Charlotte’s game and speaking of Charlotte, Bank of America Stadium will be hosting the U.S.’s final group stage game against Trinidad next Sunday at 7:00PM.
  5. Recent article up by LeBrun said the Canes and Pesce are still working on an extension and it’s looking like it’ll get done.
  6. I can’t see the NHL getting involved. If they start allowing clubs to just take in all their KHL players that are under contract in Russia it would be a wild situation. Most of the hockey players in the KHL are draft eligible so if they just abandon their KHL team and up and leave then the NHL would essentially be harboring defectors. Nikishin also may not want to come over during all of this. I imagine it’s hard to leave your family in a situation like this. It’s a tough situation all around but Nikishin’s best option is to probably lie low and take care of his family. If he tries to leave right now he could see himself getting drafted (it’s already happened with other players - see Ivan Fedotov of the Flyers). Nikishin’s KHL contract is up in two years and hopefully by then the climate is better. It’s unfortunate that he extended his contract to begin with.
  7. Staal rumor was put out by Dredger so it’s 50-50 whether he’s overselling. As for Nikishin, he can only come over if his KHL contract is terminated by his KHL team or if he buys out the remainder of the contract himself. The NHL and KHL also have an agreement in place where the NHL club cannot give the KHL player money to buy out his contract. Nikishin would have to buy out the contract himself. If it ever did get that far we’d then have to worry about Nikishin getting drafted into the Russian armed forces while trying to leave.
  8. So just for consolidation purposes. - Burns is on the second to last year of a 8YR/$64M contract. - The AAV is $8M and the cap hit for each year is $8M. - The real money Burns is owed this year due to the structure of the contract is $5M. $3.35M will be coming from the Canes and $1.65M is coming from the Sharks - When negotiating with other free agents real money is not used as a negotiating factor because each contract is structured differently. AAV is used because it accounts for the average of the whole contract. - Even though Burns’ real money is low, his AAV is $8M. Pesce will be somewhere in the AAV of $5M to $6.25M if he’s resigned.
  9. As @Harbingersmentioned that doesn’t affect the cap which is what I’ve been saying and which is why I specifically used the terminology AAV (annual average value). Burns signed an 8YR/$64M contract with San Jose and I’m fully aware that there was retention when he was traded. However, the contract was front loaded and the true value of the contract is essentially Burns getting paid $8M a year even though it may be $10M one year then $7M another then $5M in another, etc. The point being is that the AAV is $8M a year. In no way can Waddell use the excuse that Burns is only making $5M in real money (and even less from Carolina) this year when the AAV is $8M a year as justification for paying Pesce less money than Burns. I’d bet my house that if Pesce is extended it will be for more than $5M a year. Edit - Maybe you meant to quote Anybodyhome cause it looks like you and I are saying the same thing.
  10. Some rumors coming in. Canes being linked to Kevin Hayes (gross) and Joel Edmunson (I do love steady Eddy). And the organization and Staal are at an impasse. Staal wants more money and the Canes aren’t budging.
  11. God I hate Lattanzio, always the same story with that idiot.
  12. Alright so this begs the question… why has Bender not been playing?
  13. Wow! Firecrackers early! What a ball by Kahlina and that touch by Bender was all class!
  14. Chris Tabor has done a hell of a job transforming the special teams unit. Glad that Reich decided to retain him (and Campen for that matter).
  15. We finally have a game! And we are getting healthier though we are missing Swiderski tonight who I believe is on international duty. GK - Kahlina LB - Byrne LCB - Malanda RCB - Corujo RB - Lindsey CDM - Bronico LCM - Westwood RCM - Bender LW - Meram ST - Copetti RW - Vargas SUBS - Sisniega, Mora, Sobocinski, Afful, Hegardt, Cambridge, Gaines, Jozwiak, Agyemang
  16. That’s his salary for this year, not what he signed for. His salary was front loaded to pay him a ton of money up front but the contract itself was a 8yr./$64M deal that has two years left on it. As much as I’d love to, we can’t use the argument of ‘Pesce making more than Burns’ as to why we can’t pay him more than $5M per year when Burns is on the end of a $64M contract that was front loaded. In reality, Burns is still averaging $8M a year which is why his cap hit is $8M a year. And that’s a number Pesce won’t come close to.
  17. Musah has been rock solid. The only player I was disappointed in was Aaronson but he’s had a rough year all around with club and country.
  18. Only 4 receivers had more targets than Diggs last year. If he’s unhappy with that then I’d shudder to think how pissed off he’d be here in an offense that will spread the ball around a lot. And selfishly I don’t want any more receivers because I’ve drafted TMJ in all my fantasy leagues, I’m going to stay believing that he’ll break out.
  19. Not sure where those numbers are coming from. Burns is on the second to last year of an 8 year contract that pays him an AAV of $8M per year and that was signed well before the cap began to rise. And Slavin is going to get paiddddd!!! I’d bet my house that he’ll be making $8M plus. If he’s not then it’s only because he took a hometown discount.
  20. Those guys (Burns/Slavin) were all paid before the cap went up though. Pesce is going to want to make as much as Severson. I’d be shocked if he signed for less than $5.5M a year.
  21. Doing this without Tyler Adams just makes it more impressive.
  22. LMAO, Scally put that ball in the 10th row. Lucky he didn’t get a card, I’ve seen quite a few cards recently for intentionally putting the ball into the stands after conceding a foul, corner, etc. But Scally has been great tonight. Having him and Dest manning the RB position is huge for the future.
