  1. As @Harbingersmentioned that doesn’t affect the cap which is what I’ve been saying and which is why I specifically used the terminology AAV (annual average value). Burns signed an 8YR/$64M contract with San Jose and I’m fully aware that there was retention when he was traded. However, the contract was front loaded and the true value of the contract is essentially Burns getting paid $8M a year even though it may be $10M one year then $7M another then $5M in another, etc. The point being is that the AAV is $8M a year. In no way can Waddell use the excuse that Burns is only making $5M in real money (and even less from Carolina) this year when the AAV is $8M a year as justification for paying Pesce less money than Burns. I’d bet my house that if Pesce is extended it will be for more than $5M a year. Edit - Maybe you meant to quote Anybodyhome cause it looks like you and I are saying the same thing.
  2. Some rumors coming in. Canes being linked to Kevin Hayes (gross) and Joel Edmunson (I do love steady Eddy). And the organization and Staal are at an impasse. Staal wants more money and the Canes aren’t budging.
  3. God I hate Lattanzio, always the same story with that idiot.
  4. Alright so this begs the question… why has Bender not been playing?
  5. Wow! Firecrackers early! What a ball by Kahlina and that touch by Bender was all class!
  6. Chris Tabor has done a hell of a job transforming the special teams unit. Glad that Reich decided to retain him (and Campen for that matter).
  7. We finally have a game! And we are getting healthier though we are missing Swiderski tonight who I believe is on international duty. GK - Kahlina LB - Byrne LCB - Malanda RCB - Corujo RB - Lindsey CDM - Bronico LCM - Westwood RCM - Bender LW - Meram ST - Copetti RW - Vargas SUBS - Sisniega, Mora, Sobocinski, Afful, Hegardt, Cambridge, Gaines, Jozwiak, Agyemang
  8. That’s his salary for this year, not what he signed for. His salary was front loaded to pay him a ton of money up front but the contract itself was a 8yr./$64M deal that has two years left on it. As much as I’d love to, we can’t use the argument of ‘Pesce making more than Burns’ as to why we can’t pay him more than $5M per year when Burns is on the end of a $64M contract that was front loaded. In reality, Burns is still averaging $8M a year which is why his cap hit is $8M a year. And that’s a number Pesce won’t come close to.
  9. Musah has been rock solid. The only player I was disappointed in was Aaronson but he’s had a rough year all around with club and country.
  10. Only 4 receivers had more targets than Diggs last year. If he’s unhappy with that then I’d shudder to think how pissed off he’d be here in an offense that will spread the ball around a lot. And selfishly I don’t want any more receivers because I’ve drafted TMJ in all my fantasy leagues, I’m going to stay believing that he’ll break out.
  11. Not sure where those numbers are coming from. Burns is on the second to last year of an 8 year contract that pays him an AAV of $8M per year and that was signed well before the cap began to rise. And Slavin is going to get paiddddd!!! I’d bet my house that he’ll be making $8M plus. If he’s not then it’s only because he took a hometown discount.
  12. Those guys (Burns/Slavin) were all paid before the cap went up though. Pesce is going to want to make as much as Severson. I’d be shocked if he signed for less than $5.5M a year.
  13. Doing this without Tyler Adams just makes it more impressive.
  14. LMAO, Scally put that ball in the 10th row. Lucky he didn’t get a card, I’ve seen quite a few cards recently for intentionally putting the ball into the stands after conceding a foul, corner, etc. But Scally has been great tonight. Having him and Dest manning the RB position is huge for the future.
  15. Oh God, that whole situation pisses me off. Seeing what he’s doing now, we could have used that at the WC.
  16. Fug me, give the job to B.J. Also so glad to have a proper #9 in Balogun.
  17. Aaronson starting, Callaghan going full out attack.
  18. Big one tonight, Concacaf Nations League Final against the Canucks. I imagine Scally slots in for Dest and de la Torre for McKennie. Maybe Medford Messi also gets a little more run tonight.
  19. I don’t think Arfield has played the 6 but Westwood has. We could always go: 6 - Westwood 8 - Arfield 10 - Swiderski 7 - Meram 9 - Copetti 11 - Jozwiak Just feel like we need a LB and another CB in case it takes Corujo a while to return to form because I can’t watch Bill out there anymore.
  20. Arfield is another older player (34) that comes over from Rangers. He should provide depth at the AM position but I don’t see him being able to go a full 90. In all competitions he had 9 goals and 1 assist in 43 matches during the 22/23 season.
  21. The team looked fantastic (outside of losing our composure) last night under the tutelage of what is essentially a college level coach, so what do we do… we bring back the guy who could never get that type of performance out our group.
  22. I trust J. Cole and Eric Church more than the other guys.
  23. Think it probably has to do with term more than money. I can’t see the Canes offering a deal longer than four years while Pesce may want a six year deal.
