Continuing to run against 8 guys in the box is ridiculous. This isn’t a hard game, if the box is stacked then you pass, if you want to run then spread everything out. The play calling is just bafflingly bad.

To be fair, that game was well out of reach. Wilks hasn’t shown me anything to suggest that he’d pull guys in a competitive game, even if some of the guys are playing like poo.

Right, that’s where I’m confused as well. They keep showing the players leg in an offside position but the Ecuadorian player was well onside when the ball was originally played. Hopefully goal differential doesn’t end up deciding their fate. I suspect that Netherlands will advance along with the winner of Ecuador and Senegal.

Trying to replace guys with others, which seems to be the motto of this team over the past five years, has finally caught up to them.

Ecuador should come out on top of Qatar in this one. Enner Valencia is in great form right now, he’s been a goal scoring machine at Fenerbahçe (Turkish League). Moisés Caicedo is also a breakout candidate for Ecuador, he’s been playing really well in the midfield for an overachieving Brighton (EPL) team.
