I think we are getting ahead of ourself if we think Ickey is going to be better than Moton on day one. And the point is you nor I don’t know what we have in Brady. It goes back to the fact that the players already on the roster deserve a chance to prove their worth.

We all get what you want but it’s the whole wish in one hand and poo in the other scenario. I’d love to win the lottery but it’s not going to happen (because I have shitty luck). Sometimes you have to throw multiple darts to hit the bullseye. Hell, the Browns had to throw 20+ darts before deciding on a sexual predator. Sometimes the best course of action is patience. For all the scenario’s you mentioned there is also a scenario where Darnold starts, does poorly, Corral comes in around week 10 and plays lights out and the Panthers end up with the 10th pick. Maybe someone like Tyler Van Dyke or Brennan Armstrong is an option there but at the same time you could also be comfortable with Corral and start looking to draft weapons for him like Josh Down. Point is… so many different scenarios… no reason to force a square peg into a round hole just to get Corral killed.

You do if it puts the best five players out on the field. You don’t play Ickey at LT and then play Erving next to him because at that point you’ve negated Ickey’s impact because he’s covering for Erving. Best five guys play and if Ickey has to slide inside for 1 YEAR then so be it.

Overall Feeling About This Years Draft
MillionDollarCam replied to chknwing's topic in Carolina Panthers
Me knowing that it took longer for us to find a complete OL than it did for us to (mostly) get through the pandemic. -
I really think it depends on if Brady can play LG, up to this point it hasn’t been a great experiment as he performed better at LT. Worst case scenario is Ickey gets kicked inside for a year and mauls the poo out of people while they see if Brady can be a good LT. If Brady doesn’t pan out then of course you have Ickey ready at LT and Deonte Brown and Cade Mays ready to fight for for that LG position. If neither one of them fixes the problem then you address the guard position in next years draft with a second round pick or so.

Round 6 Pick 199: Cade Mays, OL, Tennessee
MillionDollarCam replied to Icege's topic in Carolina Panthers
Oh for sure but Diesch was available (I assume he’ll kick inside to OG) and he has elite athleticism for a linemen. Just odd that we didn’t continue the trend or drafting above average athletes. -
I mean there are rumors out there that Love would fetch a third round pick and the only time he’s stepped out onto the field he looked less than stellar. If Corral comes in and puts forth good tape then you 100% can get a fourth for him. Like I said you take Young or Stroud and figure the rest out later. We’re talking about losing out on a third round pick not the number one overall pick in the draft here. We also aren’t a contending team, if you have to go a year without a third round pick to find your franchise QB and become a contending team then you do it 100 times out of 100. The bottom line is that we aren’t a contending team… with that said, now that we finally have an OL, every pick should be available in finding a franchise QB. If it only takes a future third then consider yourself lucky. It’s taken many teams much more than that… start with Browns.

Round 6 Pick 199: Cade Mays, OL, Tennessee

Interesting that he is the only player drafted with just an average RAS (it’s assumed that Corral would have a high RAS). Wonder if Campen saw something there that he liked on tape. -
Rapoport says it could have been Pickett

I’m gonna be honest, I’ve had a couple drinks but I don’t follow your math at all… we gave up a third and fourth for Corral. If we have a chance to draft Young or Stroud next year then you do it and flip Corral for a fourth or something similar… or hell let them battle it out and flip whichever one loses out. So all in all you lose a third round pick (the one traded to New England) but you found your franchise QB. Corral very well could be a franchise QB but why kill him early trying to find out…. I’d say we aren’t particularly a well run organization but we don’t need to be taking pages out of the Jets playbook.

Round 6 Pick 189: Amaré Barno, EDGE, Virginia Tech
MillionDollarCam replied to Icege's topic in Carolina Panthers
Was hoping he was going to be the pick. Obviously not ready to play yet but just another athletic freak that has tools you can work with. At this point in the draft that’s all you can ask for. I particularly like Fitterer’s idea of searching for home runs in the later rounds. Sure there are some guys out there that are more polished and will develop into average NFL players, but you can get those same type of guys as UDFA’s. Fitterer is swinging for the fences and trying to land stars in the late rounds… I’m about it. -
For me personally. Unless you have Mahomes, Allen, Herbert, or one of the other elite QB’s then you take Young or Stroud and let them battle it out with Corral. It’s not like we invested a ton of draft capital in Corral so if he happens to flash a little bit and then you end up with a chance to draft Young or Stroud then you do it. One way or another you just created a great trade piece. I also think mentorship at the NFL level is way over exaggerated. These guys need to know how to be adults and take care of their finances, something that their inner circle will help them with. Football wise, the coaching staff is paid to get them ready.

Feel like that might set him up for failure. If McAdoo doesn’t completely overhaul his offensive concept (which he shouldn’t) and tailor his scheme specifically to Corral then Corral is going be learning a pro style system… something he’s never done before. Give the kid a chance and don’t Sam Darnold him by throwing him into the fire when he’s not even close to ready. Being an NFL QB is a lot more than just tossing the ball to the open guy. At some point he’ll probably play this year… from day one… bad idea.

Round 4 Pick 120: Brandon Smith, LB, Penn State
MillionDollarCam replied to Icege's topic in Carolina Panthers
He can play all positions but Smith himself said he expects to play OLB. He reminds me a lot of Manny Lawson. Their versatility, speed, athleticism, aggressiveness, etc. Putting their tape beside each other and the players almost looks identical. For Smith it’s just going to be about development and consistency. -
Round 4 Pick 120: Brandon Smith, LB, Penn State

Probably just a special teams guy next year but he offers a lot of potential. Guy is an athletic freak and he looks the part, definitely the guy you want getting off the bus first. Decent coverage linebacker with room for improvement, the big thing is cleaning up those missed tackles. He looks like Tarzan and plays like Tarzan which leads to some missed tackles when he’s trying to crack someone. -
Obviously don’t need a WR unless they ship Robby off which is no unlikely but man adding Austin III or Shakir would be fun. Munford also sitting there from Ohio State, I knows he’s a super senior but you can kick him inside to guard and he’ll do well.

I hadn’t mentioned Corral once until we drafted him. On the other hand you haven’t been able to get Willis’ out of your mouth since the combine. Is it Liberty, the color of his skin, like what’s the deal here… the only one still talking about him is *drum roll*… you.
-
A healthy CMC, if he goes down again then what? That’s why you can’t tailor your offense to Corral in my opinion. Not to mention a heavy RPO offense is going to get CMC hit a bunch… even on pull outs he’s going to get lit up. I personally don’t want that. I’d rather Corral adapt to our system rather than we adapt to his. If we have to adopt to his then you have put all your eggs in his basket and if he still doesn’t work out then you’ve set yourself back even further. He gives you enough to work with to think that he can be a pro style QB. If it doesn’t work out then at least you tried in my opinion. Now obviously he does the RPO well so let’s not eliminate it but we don’t need to be at damn near 50% like Miami. Drop it down to 20% and let the kid learn how to be an NFL QB pocket passer with the ability to use his legs and the RPO when needed. I don’t think there’s any scenario where I want him taking some of the hits that Mahomes and Allen take, he’s just not built like that.
