  1. I think Young is starting to come around, so I’m clinging on to some hope. Another good thing is that we should get 11 weeks with Brown as the OC. So there should be no doubt if he can do the job or not. If not we obviously need a brand new staff, but at least we would know.
  2. The biggest problem, like everywhere in society today, is the extreme positions. People who try to have a balanced view and discussions about the good and the bad gets drowned out immediately. E.g. Young is making progress is immediately met by “well his deep ball is terrible”. Both are true, but they are not mutually exclusive, and that seems to be the major struggle for a lot of people on this board.
  3. For Brown’s sake the timing is good. He’ll get an extra week to get ready. We will also learn if he’s good or not. If he is he will become the new HC as we can’t risk losing him. If he’s bad we will have a new offensive staff next year. Hopefully we’ll see a drastic improvement. Don’t forget that we actually look pretty good during the scripted part, so maybe the playbook is not that bad, but the play caller definitely is.
  4. They sure do. Saleh took over another loaded defense, but doing good nonetheless. Impressed what Ryan has done with a less than good roster. I’m just saying that you could put a lot of DCs on the 49ers defense and they would look great.
  5. I like Wilks, and he’s doing a good job, but every 49er DC over the last couple of years has been successful with that roster. It doesn’t say as much as one might think.
  6. I think it was a very encouraging game, lots of positives. Now if we could only get Frank out of the way, or script the first 100 plays
  7. It would be a bit surprising if we came out if the bye week with Frank still as the play caller. Bye week is the perfect time to make a change. Time to see what Brown has, still a complete wildcard.
  8. I’m deal long term backups with upside if you can get them in the right spot
  9. It will be interesting to see where Nix and Penix go in the draft. I’m always a bit hesitant with 5-6th year 23 year old QBs. They should really dominate in College, but what is their upside?
  10. I have been underwhelmed with Young so far, but like most people I hope he turns it around. In the meantime, balanced and fair criticism should be ok. The one throw from the last game that actually got me excited was the TD to Chark. 20 yards out and a strong and decisive throw, nothing super special, but first time I’ve seen it from him. I expect him to build in it in the next game, but we’ll see. I still have huge concerns about Frank as a play caller.
  11. I would certainly demand to know why his previous five patients died (if we are continuing with this hilariously poor analogy).
  12. My guess, and purely a guess, is that Tepper was sold the same thing we were, that we would definitely not pick in the top 10 again, we got a super computer brained QB etc. And he is as pissed about it as we are.
  13. While I’m concerned about Bryce, at this point I’m probably even more concerned of the coaching staff and GM. We need a full clean up after this season and let Ben Johnson pick his own GM and have Tepper sign a contract to stay away.
  14. No doubt Tepper is at fault, but that doesn’t absolve Frank of his performance. I guess that is where we differ in opinion.
  15. No, but it is a huge departure from the crowd pushing the notion that Frank didn’t want Bryce at all.
  16. I’ve yet to hear that Frank wasn’t happy with the pick. Everyone, and I mean everyone, is reporting it as being, at worst, a 1a vs. 1b situation. So feeling sorry for Frank because he got Bryce? Not buying it. Frank has months to create a playbook to maximize Bryce’s skill set and have failed doing so, on top of general coaching blunders. At this point Frank looks like a bad hire.
  17. All I’m saying is that Reich has completely underwhelmed. So many mistakes including waiting 20 seconds to take timeouts, too very poor play calling and team not looking prepared. And that is 100% on Frank.
  18. If accountability is not working, you hired the wrong people.
  19. I’m not arguing Tepper is doing good. But holding Reich accountable for his coaching failures is something I want to see. If I was the owner I would also ask what the heck is going on and what he would do about it.
  20. There is a huge difference between meddling (and I take it you mean making decisions etc.) and keeping the heat on underperforming employees. He should keep the heat on Reich as this season has been a disaster so far and Reich and the dream team is significantly underperforming in the coaching department. I don’t like meddling, but this article seemed to be about accountability and keeping the heat in underperforming employees.
  21. In regards to Frank. The job of a coach is to get the most out of your players, and he’s not close to doing that.
  22. YGM is an unexpected and exciting development. Also thought Ickey had his best game of the year. One major problem with Young is the backbreaking turnovers that always leads to opponents TDs that we are just not good enough to overcome.
  23. I have a hard time seeing it consistently moving forward, even in this game he just hit 50% completion rate and DJ did a lot of the work. But if he does, good for him, seems like a good guy.
