  1. I would like an offensive coach as well, but what if Wilks can do what other perennial winner non-offensive coaches such as Tomlin, Harbaugh, McDermott etc. can do? But we’ll wait and see how it all turns out.
  2. I’m not saying playing at Ohio State negates what he can do. But 3/4 of the time he doesn’t go passed his first read, Harrison Jr would be the #1 WR in this years draft if he could enter (according to Brugler) etc. so you have to go way beyond the numbers to evaluate him and it takes a lot of projecting of what he potentially could become. Just saying he completes 75% of his passes and throws 45 TDs isn’t worth as much in that offense. And I’m not saying you say that, but that is what I see a lot of people cling on to. That is what I think is lazy.
  3. I wouldn’t say it is lazy. Any Mike Leech offense will have great numbers. Any Ohio State offense will have great numbers. You should always look at those two offenses with some skepticism in terms of the numbers produced by the QB. It also doesn’t mean the QB automatically isn’t great. It just takes more analysis than some other teams.
  4. They have built a roster over the last couple of years, no doubt. Not sure if they were tanking or just incompetent to be honest. But they have not solved their QB situation. They are winning despite their QB.
  5. I also think it is one this year and one next year from a very good team, so it is two late first rounders spread over two years. I wouldn’t take that either if I was Fitt.
  6. I don’t think it will be as the O-line and WRs are not the usual dominant ones we are used to see. He does a lot with less this year, no doubt. I think it will 100% come down to his size and ability to hold up in the NFL.
  7. Some of the concerns about Fields when he entered the draft was his long wind up and his ability to go past his first read, something rarely required as a QB for Ohio State. How is Stroud going through his progression? How is he moving past his first read? Young seem to get to his second and third read frequently, because he has to. This is a tough one with Stroud because why would he if his first read is open? But how do we know he can if he has to? Some of you watch all his games, what say you?
  8. Absolutely agree, I don’t think either of them can be used as an example of a top defense.
  9. 3 is always impressive, but the schedule has not been tough by any stretch of imagination:
  10. I get your point, but very few of these QBs were seen as number 1 when the were in the draft.
  11. If Young was bigger I believe he would be the no brainer first QB. For Stroud, we don’t really know what he can do as he doesn’t have to show his full skill set with his insane receiver core and system (as underlined by the stats in the first post). His stats are similar to every other Ohio State QB in the past 10 years. He might have the best overall skill set, but it is more of a projection, so a tough evaluation. Just my opinion.
  12. Who offered more, care to share any details?
  13. We’re cleaning up the salary cap for 2024, we will get a QB with a rookie contract etc. Far from doom and gloom.
  14. This 100%! This is standard procedure at any large corporation and NFL team. Fitt and Morgan will select and recommend the new HC and Tepper will sign off, i.e. “decide”. Tepper might at this point say no if he doesn’t like the candidate, but that is a low risk. Not sure how this is a surprise to anyone.
  15. Don’t we have a lot of unused cap space this year that will be pushed in to 2023 as a positive? I thought we had ~$20M or so.
  16. If you draft someone like Lewis, bringing his OC along would be a great way to ensure a smooth transition. As long as the OC is NFL ready of course. But coming in already knowing the language etc. would be a huge advantage and enable starting day 1.
  17. Cam would have a very similar style, was once very raw (not as raw as AR) knows how to prepare, read a defense, lead etc. that is the reason. I would really hope the QB coach would work with him on footwork and accuracy. I have serious doubts about AR at this point, it is the absolute “what if”/buying the upside situation, with an extremely low floor. But it is fun to dream about the upside. What signs are there that Fields is starting to get it? is it because he wasn’t awful and threw for 200 yards and 1 TD in his last game? I wish him the best, and good for him if he turns it around, but I wouldn’t hold my breath on that one. I don’t think you should write Stroud off, but every Ohio State QB looks like a world beater in college, so that is not something that can be ignored. Btw, here are the stats for Fields this year:
  18. I hate myself for saying this as I’m getting annoyed with all the Cam chatter. But, bringing Cam back on a 2-year contract and drafting Anthony Richardson is somewhat intriguing.
  19. Jim Caldwell would be really interesting as well, not sure if he has a connection to Wilks or not.
  20. I’m just waiting for Frank Reich to get fired, that would be a nice OC. But that won’t likely happen.
  21. I’m curious to see if he wants to establish the run and therefore putting Bozeman at C. Now that would be exciting.
  22. Also, in Arizona he had to work with the combo of Rosen at QB and Keim at GM, brutal stuff. Not sure if he’s a good HC or not, but hard to fault him for the Arizona fiasco.
  23. Exactly what I though. Not sure it will happen, but at this time all we have is hope…
  24. Oh it’s a stretch no doubt, I’m just thinking that would be one of a limited number if scenarios that Tepper would be all over.
