I mean that's 4 out of the 5 best QBs in the NFL. And I wouldn't call any of those colleges except maybe Oregon a top-tier school. Again, listing all the starters here: Lamar - Louisville Allen - Wyoming Rodgers/Goff - Cal Herbert - Oregon Mahomes - Texas Tech Baker/Murray - Oklahoma Wilson - NC State/Wisconson Mills - Stanford Ryan - Boston College Carr - Fresno st. Tua/Mac/Hurts - Alabama Wilson - BYU Picket - Pitt Tannehill - A&M Mariotta - Oregon Prescott - Miss St Jones - Duke Geno - WVU Garrapolo - East Illinios or something like that Brady - Michigan Wentz/Lance - NDU Cousins - Mich St. Winston - FSU Dalton - TCU Burrow - LSU Bolded are what I would consider a mid-tier program. I'm sure I'm missing some, but I would say the top 4 or 5 come from that mid-tier group imo. But it's just my opinion - not here to fight about it. On the whole I think college football is a mostly boring product until you get to those upper echelon teams facing each other.

Mid-Level, Mid-Tier, Average, Middle of the Pack, majority 3-star, good every 10 years, never won a conference championship, somewhat competitive. Call it whatever you want, but they are the ones that consistently produce the bests QBs. And when they are good, it's because of those said top-tier QBs.

If there is a draft to be needing a QB regardless of where you draft, this is it. Good options at the top and the bottom of the first/second rounds.

I agree here - Again, I would be thrilled if Wilks pulls us to something like 7-10 or 8-9. And I would still do whatever it takes to get a QB in the draft.

By mid-level I mean teams not competing for top bowl games year after year. Lets go through your list. Mahomes - Texas Tech - Midlevel Rodgers/Goff - California - when was the last time they were good? Burrow - LSU Jackson - Lousville - aka doens't compete for championships Wilson - NC State/Wisconson - rarely competetivie in their conference Wilson - BYU enough said Cousings - Michigan State - see Wisconson Hurts/Tua - Alabama Tannehill - A&M Smith - WVU Murray - Oklahoma Allen - Wyoming Carr - fresno Herbert - Oregon More than half of these QBs are on teams that rarely compete for their conference championships, and the 4/5 best ones on this list, their colleges are awful.

I think Stroud is a better pocket QB than fields and does a great job with touch. Just a comment. I wonder what it would look like if you add Haskins stats too. I think it's why Ohio State QBs are so hard to evaluate. With that said I like Stroud a lot, but i have said a million times I think the most successful QBs come from mid level colleges cause everything is harder for them. So I'm big on Ward, Levis and Hooker (minus his age, but Burrow was old too so....)

The same applies if PJ jimmy clausen's us into our next legendary franchise QB.

If Quinn is Fitterers top guy, the we should go ahead in fire him right now. Because this scenario says we have no vision of what we would ideally like the future to look like.
-
I absolutely love Cam Ward and if we fall out of the top 10 he should 100% be our target.
-
Assuming he is a first or second round guy, there are other intriguing guys with higher sealing as well. Cam Ward and Anthony Richardson come to mind. I also think Tanner McKee is someone to watch.
-
Hasn't he been in college for like a decade? Not saying he isn't a top prospect, but he will be something like a 26 year old rookie, if age matters at all. I remember that being one of the hits against Pickett last year.

For the record, I would like to see us persue Steichen next season, but I think it's always interesting that most interim coaches don't get an opportunity. Not necessarily because they perform badly, but usually the team is in a terrible situation or there a very limited sample to see change. Obviously, the Raiders coach last year is an outlier here. He lead that team to a huge turnaround, and still didn't get the job. With no QB, a half baked staff, what would it take to put you in Wilks' corner?

I think the "not attractive job" is a common overreaction to bad teams in times of transition, but teams like the Browns and Lions and Jags have always gotten who they were chasing for... Even if it didn't always work out. I think we will get who Tepper wants, minus maybe Peyton.
