At the very least Rhule should lose personel decisions.
Mr. Scot replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
It's not like he's anything special as a gameday coach. I mean, even when we've won games, does anyone here remember a time when they thought to themselves "Rhule really outcoached that guy"? -

I can understand the idea but I don't think it helps. He'd still be in charge of depth chart and on-field decisions as well as setting the system. And let's be real: If you have to take these sorts of measures, why are you even keeping him? -
Customarily, eh? Just looking back at the last 15 or so years, we have... 2016 1st Round 1 - Jared Goff, Rams 2 - Carson Wentz - Eagles 26 - Paxton Lynch, Broncos 2015 1st Round 1 - Jameis Winston, Buccaneers 2 - Marcus Mariota, Titans 2014 1st Round 3 - Blake Bortles, Jaguars 22 - Johnny Manziel, Browns 32 - Teddy Bridgewater, Vikings 2013 1st Round 16 - EJ Manuel, Bills 2010 1st Round 1 - Sam Bradford, Rams 25 - Tim Teebow, Broncos 2007 1st Round 1 - JaMarcus Russell, Raiders 22 - Brady Quinn, Browns 2006 1st Round 3 - Vince Young, Titans 10 - Matt Leinart, Cardinals 11 - Jay Cutler, Broncos So...seven years out of sixteen where no franchise quarterback was found, and that's even allowing for the most recent drafts where the jury is realistically still out. Doesn't exactly look all that "customary"

Didn't catch it in this clip but saw elsewhere that the Lions declined the delay of game penalty.
-
Pretty sure if the Falcons hadn't stupidly been playing prevent, that drive would have gone a lot differently.

I lived through the 2001 season... Watched every moment of the 2010 season.... Yet it's no exaggeration to say that right now might be the worst I've ever felt about the Panthers.

Yeah, mentioned that elsewhere. Wasn't just talking about us though. Not every team has a situation like ours.

Nah, I think Hackett's gonna be really good. Everywhere he's been, the offense has improved greatly. You could actually get that same OC/DC combo under Nathaniel Hackett. Pettine was the Packers DC not that long ago and Hamilton worked with Hackett's dad. Mind you, I prefer Jim Schwartz or Gus Bradley as DC options. There are other good possibilities at OC as well.

Panthers officially eliminated from the playoffs
Mr. Scot replied to Sean Payton's Vicodin's topic in Carolina Panthers
That may not have been true for a while now. -
Does Matt Rhule know more about football than people on a message board? Sure he does. If only it were that easy. Unfortunately, Rhule doesn't know enough about running a professional football team to beat even the likes of the Falcons, the Giants, the Dolphins and other teams that are generally acknowledged to be bottom feeders. That's the problem.

Newton has more 2 minute drills run in his career than PJ Walker has years in existence. Familiarity or not, I just don't buy that Walker was better suited to run anything than Newton.

Emotional moment in Denver... One of the Lions (Michael Brockers, I think) sees what's going on and waves for his guys to stay back. Very appropriate way to acknowledge missing their old teammate

Hackett was fired late in a season by a coach trying to save his ass (same as Brady) difference being Hackett was actually good at his job. He was hired to a better job less than 60 days later.
-
Tepper makes football decisions based on his own knowledge and ideas. Unfortunately, that's not much better

Hackett and his dad have connections going all the way back to Bill Walsh. He basically grew up around the NFL. Click on the thread by Ricky Spanish that he linked above and you'll see plenty of info.
-
I know of a guy with 13 years NFL experience (18 overall) whose dad also spent 27 years coaching in the league (42 overall). That work?
-
I'd call Daboll the most likely candidate, but to me Hackett is far and away the best candidate.
-
Game is now living up to expectations. LaFleur is schooling Nagy.
-
Ellis Williams pointed out that rather than fixing existing problems, Rhule is creating new ones.
-
You don't have to. Go back to the info you posted on page one about the rule change. It says that teams can interview as long as they've told their current coach he won't be back, even if he's not officially fired.
-
Everybody he's fired so far has been fired in-season. Kinda think we're already there...

We lost to the Falcons...the frigging Falcons...the one team left on the schedule I thought we might have a realistic shot at beating. And it hurts
