  1. Inside the Eagles downfall under Jeffrey Lurie and Howie Roseman (subscription required) You might think to yourself that this story isn't Panthers related, and directly speaking, it isn't. But truth be told, it paints a pretty disturbing portrait of what could have been if we were still under Jerry Richardson and Marty Hurney. And besides that, it's compelling reading. Hell, you might even find yourself feeling sorry for Eagle fans.
  2. They can restructure the contract to spread the hit evenly. Speculation has been that this is the plan.
  3. It affects roster decisions. Lord knows it did with Ron.
  4. I see "this guy is such a physically insane matchup nightmare that whichever team drafts him is guaranteed a Super Bowl" players on pretty much an annual basis. Some years later I see those same guys retire with no rings.
  5. I kind of doubt we traded away a second round pick just for a one year tryout. That'd be pretty dumb, honestly.
  6. By the way, Moss is now a Bengal. Cincinnati claimed him on waivers. (this is not clickbait)
  7. We've heard more than one person say that when it comes to standards, Rhule is kind of a hard ass to both work and play for.
  8. Also word that the Patriots are releasing Julian Edelman with a failed physical designation. Expectations are Edelman is going to retire.
  9. Former UNC and Bengals RB Gio Bernard signing a one year deal with the Bucs. Doesn't sound like we pursued him.
  10. So a reporter asked Matt Rhule today if he thought it would be fair to ask Teddy Bridgewater to mentor Sam Darnold. Rhule's response? "I don't really believe in fair or unfair in professional sports." Loosely translated: "I don't give a sh-t." Ron Rivera always wanted to help be sure players ended their careers on their best terms. Matt Rhule doesn't really seem to be especially worried about that. He appears to be more of a "do whatever it takes to win" guy. I'm curious which approach fans are more comfortable with.
  11. I think it's more likely he'd finish with less than 20% winning seasons over his tenure.
  12. Well if he follows his usual pattern, they'll just put him in a motion capture suit and superimpose Payton's image over him.
  13. That's the first Panthers press... conference I can remember that included New York media.
  14. Well, the GM that brought him aboard was kind of a dumbass so that one's understandable.
  15. You're the only one here pathetically trolling a fan forum for attention.
  16. Man, on this format, Darnold comes off seeming even younger than he actually is.
  17. Oh sure. Teams give their presumed starter permission to seek a trade all the time.
  18. David Newton asked him the exact same question he asked Matt Rhule.
  19. I get the impression he's already met David Tepper.
  20. Reading your spin on a couple of things makes me doubt you actually read the full article, but accepting the premise... Your ideas, especially about the 49ers trade, are more fitting of this being a spur of the moment thing rather than something that was months in the making. I get that most people's ideas of how/why somebody did something tend to revolve around "well, that's how I would have done it", but sometimes it's better to read what actually happened
  21. Read the story. They initiated the trade talks long before that trade happened, and had Douglas been more willing to move forward it likely would have gotten done sooner.
  22. Because he's not a fallback. They genuinely wanted him.
