  1. This is Yates' rationale (as quoted by Weaver) “I’ve been on record forecasting Watson to Miami, but recently my tenor has changed with more support from the Dolphins for Tua Tagovailoa and the Panthers’ previous aggressive pursuit of Matthew Stafford. . . Houston has no interest in trading him away right now, but we know this has already been ugly. If you ultimately trade away a franchise quarterback, moving him to a team you play once every four years is preferred to an in-conference foe (assuming the offers are comparable).” Regardless of where you stand on the Watson trade, that line of reasoning is pretty weak.
  2. That's funny coming on the heels of the whole "bold prediction" thing. Former Eagles president Joe Banner made a comment yesterday indicating that he doesn't believe the "three firsts and McCaffrey" offer is even "close to enough" for the deal to happen.
  3. Yeah, that's a bad deal. Brian Burns is 22, on a rookie contract and just getting started. Von Miller is 31, not anything close to what he used to be and at this point likely costs more than he's worth.
  4. To be fair, some folks might have had similar sentiments about Sam Darnold a few years ago. Then the Browns picked Baker Mayfield. I do firmly believe Lawrence will go #1, but it's fair to say that you never know.
  5. Someone raised an interesting question... How would it be affected if, rather than just putting the full defensive units from those respective years, they had given you the choice between Dan Morgan and Luke Kuechly?
  6. Thanks for the kind words. Didn't really intend for this thread to be about me. FYI: If you subscribe to The Athletic, they have a story chronicling the timeline of events between Deshaun Watson and the Texans. It's amazing.
  7. This feels like a solid prediction...
  8. Not a very accurate one... The last time I put up an "other NFL news" thread was February 2nd.
  9. Didn't play last year (injury). Plus, new GM.
  10. This would make sense... Also notable... And one more, it's not in Tweet form but Albert Breer said in his mailbag that he believes the Wentz trade should be completed this week, likely to the Colts but the Bears are still in it.
  11. Well, you have to remember that Roethlisberger isn't used to people being able to say "no" to him
  12. I actually want to like the kid. I think he's great. The biggest thing for me is that when I read evaluations of him, they remind me of the ones I read about Teddy Bridgewater when he was in college. I said the same thing about Bridgewater at the time.
  13. Maybe it's just me, but every time I've watched Lawrence play I've been underwhelmed. Again, not necessarily that he's bad, but that he might not be as good as advertised. Perhaps I just didn't catch him at his best.
  14. Said it elsewhere: When you factor in that one of the principal figures in this story is an idiot with a huge ego, all possibilities are open.
  15. I can't remember for certain if anybody was predicting Baker Mayfield to go number one a few years back. If so, there probably weren't many because most saw it is a huge surprise. This would be like that on steroids.
  16. Wilson's skill set is phenomenal, but his physical durability concerns me. Also, while I'm not about to predict that Lawrence will be bad, I don't necessarily believe he's the quarterback god that a lot of people see him to be. Even factoring both those things in though, this is still hard for me to believe.
  17. Worth noting that might also factor into Watson's thinking.
  18. That's hard to imagine. Fields I could kinda see because of his connection to Urban Meyer, but ultimately I'd be really shocked if they took anyone but Lawrence.
  19. This just in from our "Wait, WHAT?!" department... There's misinformation, and then there's this.
  20. Basically said he'd play for nothing. Apparently, that offer wasn't low enough for the Steelers
