  1. The article includes similar feedback from players. There was chatter out of the Senior Bowl about Rhule yelling at his coaches just as much as he did the players. Sounds like that was legit.
  2. Apparently our head coach, while generally a nice guy, isn't always an easy man to work for...or play for Pretty good read in The Athletic (subscription required) After joining Matt Rhule’s Baylor staff from Rice, Frank Okam was fired up about making the jump to a Power 5 program. Then the first game happened, and Okam wondered if his might be a short stint in Waco. After Okam’s defensive line had a choppy performance in the 2018 opener against Abilene Christian, the Bears’ first-year assistant called his girlfriend to let her know he’d endured the wrath of Rhule. “The headsets were crazy and there was a lot of yelling going back and forth. And coach Rhule in frustration said, ‘Frank, this might be your last game here,’” Okam said last week. “So I called her after the game. I was like, ‘Hey, I think I might be fired from Baylor. So I’m not sure, I’m gonna show up to work tomorrow and see what happens, see if they’ll let me in the building.’” Okam’s job was safe: A calmer Rhule explained the following day he was just trying to get the most out of him and his players. But it was a bit of a system shock for Okam...
  3. I think it was more like someone saying, "Well I guess we have to assign somebody to cover the Panthers. How about we just stick Newton on it? He's in the area anyway. We'll save some money."
  4. Well, I'm not the one saying brilliant things like "just because they put him second on the depth chart doesn't mean they view him as second on the death chart"
  5. I have no more idea who the Panthers are going to draft than anyone else here. (hell, right now even the Panthers themselves don't know) I do take the possibility of drafting Mac Jones seriously though.
  6. For the record, the NFL Rumors and Updates Twitter is pretty frequently full of bullsh-t. Unless you see it confirmed somewhere else. I wouldn't take anything they say too seriously.
  7. Would free up the Niners to go after Watson or another quarterback. As far as connections go, Fitterer would be very familiar with Garoppolo. Plus you can figure that Adam Peters might talk to Matt Rhule. Maybe say something like I think "He'd work in your system. Perhaps we can help each other out." No idea whether there's any truth to it, but there is some possible logic.
  8. Inactive for an entire season due to Covid... I'll be back later. I'm gonna be laughing for a while
  9. I'm not talking about hypotheticals. Here's a tidbit from reality: Love was a healthy scratch for the Packers all through the regular season while Tim Boyle worked as the backup to Aaron Rodgers, and the same has been true during the postseason. Jordan Love: No action as a rookie
  10. That he's third string behind an undrafted guy is common knowledge, no exclusive access required. And the thing about third string is it means they're not giving you reps. A team taking a guy in the first round and then giving him less practice reps than an undrafted? Not a good sign. But again, the thing is that if I'm going to give a draft pick to a team for a guy, I need there to be something that makes me think we can get something out of him. There's nothing there with Love. Maybe he has a chance down the road, but right now there's nada.
  11. Sad news about Marty Schottenheimer... Marty was one of those really good coaches who just never quite put it all together to win the big prize.
  12. I think Payton's Hill experiment is over.
  13. One fact I'm very certain of... Rodney Harrison is a dick.
  14. If he's not traded by the draft, I don't think he's traded this season at all. But given that the Texans are dug in deep on this and that his agent recently denied the suggestion that he'd refuse to participate in OTAs, I don't think he's going anywhere. Frankly, that's what a lot of people in the business think.
  15. Being beaten out by an MVP isn't an issue. Being beaten out for the backup job by an undrafted guy when you were a first round pick...that kinda is.
  16. Luck running Frank Reich's offense would certainly be intriguing. That said, if he does come back to the Colts it isn't necessarily guaranteed it's as a player.
  17. That Bill Voth retweeted McCaffrey's response probably doesn't say good things about how Newton is viewed inside the building.
  18. I wouldn't hold my breath on that.
  19. Our buddy Ellis has been arguing just the opposite. Me? I don't know. It's valid to say he had flashes last year but overall looked pretty bad. He might still be able to play but sixteen games as a starter is a rough road.
  20. I'm not sure it matters. The Texans are pretty well dug in on their front.
  21. You can exchange as many ideas as you want. If some of them happen to be bad ideas though, don't be surprised if they get knocked.
  22. At this point, you can make as many offers as you want for Watson, but the Texans aren't listening to any of them. Doesn't sound like they'll be changing their mind anytime soon either. Probably wiser to pursue other avenues right now.
  23. Your first sentence is very accurate.
  24. Well, here's a story people are really gonna love... On a recent episode of “Patriots Talk Podcast” with Tom E. Curran, former New England safety Rodney Harrison (now an NBC analyst) vehemently disagreed with the idea of Newton getting a second season with the Patriots. “That would be the worst decision [Belichick] has ever made,” said Harrison. “Because now you’re not being fair to your team. When I saw what I saw with Cam, every time I saw Cam play pretty much I was hurt. Because I was a guy that believed in Cam, and when you see him drop back and he continues to throw the ball into the ground, throw it five feet or five yards above somebody else, you’re like, ‘What are you doing, Cam?’ “Trust me, we’re all fans,” Harrison added. “And yeah we’re Patriot fans, but we’re football fans. We want to see these young men do well in their lives and in their livelihood. And so everybody was sitting back rooting for Cam. “But yeah I would say this: You have to find a quarterback,” Harrison explained. “It would be a terrible mistake for Bill Belichick to bring Cam back because Cam can’t play football anymore. He just can’t play quarterback in the National Football League.” Rodney Harrison says it would be a terrible mistake for the Patriots to bring Cam Newton back
