Stafford trade agreement might be in place before the Super Bowl

Well remember, the Rams don't have a first rounder. But also, remember who the Lions hired their GM from? -

I'd need to hear it from another source before I'd take it seriously. This one comes from the same Twitter that somebody posted a couple of bullsh-t rumors from a few weeks ago. -
The "long toothed" guys weren't the only ones saying it. Heck, that was the season you had all the guys getting together for team pictures on the sidelines after we won (and sometimes even before). Everybody was having fun that year.

PFT points out that the Rams don't have a first round pick to offer. Makes me think they'd have to give the Lions something else of value. Like maybe...I dunno... -
You must not have been paying much attention in 2015 then. There were multiple articles posted that year from guys like Jared Allen, Peanut Tillman and others praising the chemistry in the Panthers locker room. Guys talked about it being one of the best they'd ever been in.

To clarify, the trades can't actually be made until March. Teams can, however, agree to terms. -

I've heard the 49ers too, but now maybe not. -
Panthers let go of a couple of front office guys

Get off my lawn. -
Side Note: Just saw our old buddy Dom Capers is joining the Lions coaching staff as a senior defensive assistant. I remember his first press conference. It wasn't anywhere near as entertaining as Dan Campbell's.
-
It's been a fun offseason for introductory press conferences. That's for sure.
-
Fitterer mentioned guys that had a passion to play as something they look for in Seattle.

Somebody mentioned this idea earlier in the thread. I pointed out that doing such a thing comes with the very real possibility of pissing off your teammates who would actually like to win games and aren't necessarily up for the idea of tanking an entire season just so you can get a better job somewhere else. And if you should happen to piss off the offensive line guys who are supposed to be protecting you from getting killed, well...that's a bit of a dangerous game.

Related note: We might being danger of losing another assistant. Packers DC Mike Pettine isn't returning, and our secondary guy Jason Simmons was with the Packers last year. He's already gotten one DC interview. Might get another if they remember him well. -
Not a fan, especially not at his current contract level.

Todd McShay is CONVINCED we will move on from Teddy

I don't know how probable it is, but a reverse effect might be possible. The Lions staff headed by Dan Campbell is obviously going to have some Saints influence. If Campbell remembers Bridgewater positively, maybe there's a chance we can offload him there to backup whoever they get. Could conceivably be part of a deal to get Stafford. The Chargers could be another possibility. They hired former Saints QB Coach Joe Lombardi as their OC. He might think Bridgewater could be a capable backup to Herbert. Mind you, I'd say in either of those places or anywhere else he goes, he's going to need to renegotiate his contract and be willing to accept a backup role. -

I've said before the people I'm watching most closely are Jeff Morrow and Matt Allen. Morrow holds the same title as Pat Stewart, just with "executive" in front of it. Seems redundant, and I kinda doubt they're gonna let go of Stewart. Matt Allen? Well, he's Jerry Richardson's grandson. I don't know how good he is it is job, but unless he's really good it won't be terribly surprising if he gets replaced as Director of Pro Personnel. -
Probably worth remembering that Howie Roseman is a Marty Hurney style GM. Roseman didn't have a scouting background before getting that job either. He was primarily a cap guy. Eagle fans have been screaming for him to be replaced for years but Jeffrey Lurie doesn't seem inclined to blame him for anything. (we've been there)
-
If they really believe he can fix Wentz, I suspect he could have answered every question "Potato" and probably still gotten hired. Their investment in Wentz is just that high. Can he actually do it? No idea.
-
He got that job because he worked under Frank Reich. That makes them think he can fix Carson Wentz.

Regarding former players, that's a tough thing to go by. Gantt and others acknowledged that there was no way Steve Smith was going to go quietly unless he left on his own terms. That's just not who he is. I know Beason didn't like being told he couldn't play that well anymore, but let's be real, he couldn't. And DeAngelo? Come on. We already knew what he was like. You could ask The Amazing Race for their take on him too.

You don't have to. It wasn't a presser. It was a conference call. Specifically, the one prior to our first game against the Saints. On the call, Rhule mentioned Cooper talking about Bridgewater and suggesting he'd fit well into our offense. Igo posted about it after it happened. Of course, at that point in the season, feelings about Bridgewater were a lot more positive than they would be later on.
