  1. The thing about that last game is it gives you a pretty good preview of what Brady is going to look like at the end of a long season against a playoff quality team. Same as with Payton, fans are all about getting a guy for what he used to be and thinking he'll be that again.
  2. Jimmy Johnson was a proven commodity when he went to the Dolphins too. Likewise,, Gruden to the Raiders, Parcells to the Cowboys, etc.
  3. What bugs me the most about the idea is what it would tell me about David Tepper.
  4. I can't count how many times have seen people say "let's hire this guy based on who he used to be" assuming he's just going to be that same guy all over again. Ask some of those past fanbases who hired a Super Bowl winning coach assuming they'd return to their former glory how that went.
  5. I want more than just memories. I want to go into next season not feeling like I did coming into this one.
  6. See above... This is a key point. People want to argue over whether Payton made Brees or Brees made Payton. The reality is that it doesn't matter. It was the combination of the two of them that was great together. Can't assume you have the same success with only one of them.
  7. And again, we sound like the jilted girl, the type of girl that marries somebody just because they want to be married, then realizes within a few months what a huge mistake she's made. That's basically what we're begging to become.
  8. The Steelers are gonna fire a head coach? That's one I'll believe when I see, plus word is Tomlin still has tremendous influence in that building. As to McVay (and Snead, it should be noted) ask those fans what they think a couple years from now If their team goes down the toilet. (It hasn't...yet)
  9. Enough that I don't feel like enduring ten more years of them just so I can hang on to one season like some loser constantly recalling his high school glory days. And again, people assuming Payton would be just as good here as he was in New Orleans are assuming a lot.
  10. Think if it this way: Would you rather have the last ten years of Tomlin or the last ten years of Gruden? For context, Tomlin won his Super Bowl in 2009. Hasn't been back since. You could say the same about the Broncos. They beat us in the 2015 season but have been sh-t ever since. And let's be real: I know people say they'd be okay putting up with ten years of mediocrity, but by year two or three those same people would be b-tching to high heaven.
  11. Well that pretty much guarantees one of them will be available Ironically enough, that also means first shot at the job goes to whoever loses.
  12. This is basically saying that you'd rather have Jon Gruden than Mike Tomlin. Tomlin won his, yes, but hasn't been back for several years now. Still, he keeps his team in contention and has yet to have a losing season. Gordon won his and then dragged the team down the sh-tter.
  13. Are they playing each other this week? I've forgotten. Good chance Moore might be available too. (though don't tell Lady Cowboy Fan I said that) Should add that I expect Dan Morgan to push for Ken Dorsey to at least get the chance to interview.
  14. I can't sign on to that. Said before that makes us sound like the desperate girl who just wants somebody anybody to ask her out, even if it's a loser. Said it before: We used to make fun of Tampa fans who kept talking about their Super Bowl five or ten years later. Now we'd give anything to be like them
  15. It's not just his age. I think he knew things were trending down for him the year he left. He used to be at least somewhat unique with his offense, but over the last few years high scoring offenses have started to become the norm. People have a tendency to see players for who they used to be. I think that's probably true of coaches as well.
  16. Other interviews are still waiting. And depending on how the playoffs fall, some of those guys might get to interview before Steichen or Kafka does.
  17. That doesn't really hurt the Saints that much. Honestly, it's probably worse for him being out of the league for a couple of cycles when he's not getting any younger.
  18. Payton wants full control. If Tepper is stupid enough to give it to him, especially after specifically stating he wasn't going to do that again...
  19. I think he's a worthy interview for certain But he's probably on the wrong side of the ball to get the job here.
