We probably can't. What I'm looking at right now are connections, and the biggest one that I know of with Steichen is to Steve Wilks. Mind you, connections aren't everything, but we don't have a whole lot else to go on right now.

I like Steichen. I'm just not sure he's likely to get the Panthers job.

I don't really want Quinn either, or any other retread for that matter. With that said, there are definitely examples of guys who did way better on their second coaching job than their first. Bill Belichick is the most obvious example, but there are other guys like Marv Levy and Dick Vermeil on the list too.

Rhule also drafted some players I like too. I'm not of the mind we have to throw out every piece of furniture that Matt Rhule ever touched.

I don't know that it will, but it's definitely possible given Quinn has ties to both of our top two decision makers and fits the profile of what people believe Tepper wants (though that's speculation too).

You're really going off the rails here. No idea why this is making you so angry.

I think we have areas of it that are good while others need improvement, which is actually pretty standard across the league. Free agency improved from last year to this year in part because of the addition of Dan Morgan. Fitterer is a draft guy, Morgan a pro personnel guy. I do feel like the drafts have been decent at the very least, though given we're only two years in it's kind of premature to judge. But as with other things, I'd like to see how the roster performs when Matt Rhule and his people aren't coaching it. Or are you going to tell me that who's doing the coaching also makes no difference?

This is the kind of stuff that makes me roll my eyes. There isn't any "report that Fitterer is focused on Quinn as candidate #1". There is speculation that Dan Quinn could be a candidate for the job because he has connections to both Fitterer and Morgan and it's believed that Tepper wants an experienced coach. Yet we have people talking as if they've already been on the phone with Quinn discussing contract terms

His part of the job, which is drafting and improving the roster. Is he to blame for the coaching on the field?

The thought of hiring someone in general doesn't scare me. The thought of David Tepper hiring someone does.

If you really think Fitterer compares to Marty Hurney, you've gone waaaaayyy out there.

Neither do you, but you're acting like you do. Are we going to just fire the entire staff now for having anything to do with the Rhule Era and let Tepper build the team from scratch? For that matter, why not gut the roster as well?

Why risk throwing the baby out with the bathwater? Is it now somehow impossible to say that Fitterer paired with the right coach could actually work?

Wrong. I actually think he is good and can be better. Not being shackled to Matt Rhule would help a lot.

There's a pretty good argument to be made...

Morgan has had one GM interview, and that was with the Steelers were interviewing everybody. Most guys who end up as GMs have multiple interviews before they finally get the job. He got a job with the Seahawks when he was first starting out, with the Bills because of Beane and with the Panthers because of Fitterer. That's not to say he's bad, but I do think the Panther fanbase might be overrating him a little bit. I've seen nothing to indicate Morgan is as hot a GM candidate as some think...well, except from Panther fans who want to blame Scott Fitterer for everything but somehow think Dan Morgan is absolved.

Have you forgotten Samir Suleiman exists? And no I don't, because I'm pretty sure if you were fired from a position you were perfectly qualified for because the actions of a superior who wasn't qualified for their job but negatively affected yours, you'd be howling. I'd dd you never answered how all this blame you think falls on Fitterer misses Dan Morgan.

I'd love to see Wilks succeed, but the deck is rather heavily stacked against him.
