  1. Chris Ballard and Ed Dodds have been considered two of the best personnel guys in the league for a while now, but their most recent big moves were trading draft capital for Carson Wentz and Matt Ryan. Goes to show how quickly things can go south, I guess.
  2. Are they talking about the OC version or the head coach version? The OC version got a lot of praise. The head coach? Not so much.
  3. I don't think McAdoo's offense has been simplistic at his past jobs. That said, I haven't been impressed with what I've seen so far of his Panthers offense.
  4. Don't know his background. He might be from the area.
  5. Wilks (allegedly) called out Sean Chandler and Sam Franklin, a couple of Rhule's Temple guys, not everybody.
  6. I think he probably did have a plan. Problem is a lot of what he's done to set up that plan so far hasn't worked. Can't get to the next step of the plan if the previous step went wrong. It's kind of like that saying about boxing, "everybody has a plan till you get punched in the mouth". Rhule has been getting punched in the mouth for two seasons already, and has gotten started on a third.
  7. I read that entire thread from C3 and don't remember any mention of Wilks saying anything like that.
  8. Kaye was previously with Pro Football Network working with guys like Aaron Wilson but will now be joining Ellis Williams on the Observer's Panthers beat. From what I've seen of him, he's pretty good.
  9. In a crazy sequence playing the Saints, who were starting a young backup named Jake Delhomme
  10. The names Tepper threw into the hat last time were mostly analytics types who didn't have a lot of experience in personnel evaluation. His thing since he started has been to do things differently than others so that he can show how smart he is. Except...he isn't.
  11. Henning was actually good. If you want the full sh-t show, you're gonna need Jeff Davidson running the offense. (Richard Rodgers running the special teams works too)
  12. Va lid...when he gets to choose the coach. Tepper had suggestions the last time we had a GM search. He wanted a non-traditional GM with an analytics background rather than a personnel background. Rhule wanted a talent evaluator, and he won the argument. As mentioned previously, that is the one thing for which I'm thankful to Matt Rhule. I don't trust Tepper to hire a good GM. Hell, I'm not sure I'd trust Tepper to hire a good hot dog vendor.
  13. Not when we needed to hold them and get the ball back.
  14. I sense that your feelings on this matter are not entirely genuine
  15. What I remember most about the intro was how both Marty Hurney and David Tepper (especially Tepper) emphasized how they "just had a feeling" that he was the guy. The metaphor I used at the time was an elderly person falling for an insurance sales pitch, but these days "used car salesman" seems to be preferred.
  16. The Panthers aren't going into fire sale made while Matt Rhule is still in charge.
  17. Well for one, it doesn't necessarily take a huge amount of faith to trust anyone more than David Tepper. But for another, Fitterer has twenty plus years of legitimate experience as an actual football guy, has connections around the league, and has Dan Morgan working with him. I've yet to see anyone suggest a good reason why I should put more faith in Tepper whose coach hiring resume' basically consists of giving damn near a blank check to Matt Rhule,
  18. Also, a quick word to the "always support your team even when they're crap" crowd from Browns play by play guy Jim Donovan (retweeted by The Roaring Riot) ...
  19. I think this past offseason when we first found out we were moving forward with Rhule was the lowest. Now at least we're seeing some games and there's hope for change.
