  1. A little more info on one of our undrafted guys... Hartlaub basically came to one practice and left. Wonder what the deal was there
  2. Don't even need to go to the effort because the concept itself is ludicrous. Rhule had an established team that wasn't the worst team in the league the previous year. Neither Fox nor Rivera could say that. And of course there was Capers who had to start from nothing. Speaking of which, besides the coaches in the last 30 years that started expansion teams from the ground up, there are the guys before them that started real expansion teams. They didn't have the kind of advantages that their more modern counterparts were given, and didn't even have things like free agency to rely on either. Using those guys alone, the suggestion that Rhule had the toughest job in history qualifies as absolute buffoonery. As to the "starters" and "leaders" that you listed, the vast majority of them were either guys Rhule himself let go or were just plain crap players or both. What's even funnier is that several of the guys Rhule brought in as their replacements were equally crap. Bottom line: If you're actually going to try and defend this silliness, I'm going to assume you're sh-tposting because this is some of the stupidest crap I've seen (and that takes some effort with guys like Sizzlebuzz on the board).
  3. You do remember this was an expansion team once right? Zero players at all? Had to be built from the ground up? Any of that ring a bell? I'd add that calling all but one or two of those guys "stars" is a huge stretch. And even for the ones where it might be legit, they were on the downside of their careers. As to guys like Dontari Poe, Greg Van Roten and others? Yeah, losing those guys sure hurt Hell, Fox started and Rivera both started off with a 1 win teams. And let's stop with the Covid stuff. Every other team had to deal with that too, including the new coaches. I hope you're just sh-tposting, because the suggestion that Rhule had the toughest start in history is one of the dumbest things I've ever seen on here.
  4. The vast majority of those guys either weren't wanted back or weren't very good. And calling this "the toughest start to an NFL head coach career" is ridiculous. Heck, there are people who started the same year as Rhule who had it just as tough or tougher and are doing way better now. Rhule can't even rightly be credited with having the toughest start of any Panthers coach.
  5. I'm not convinced Burns is going to have a great season this year. Teams know they can run on him now, and without a guy like Reddick taking attention away from him, he might not be as effective as a pass rusher either.
  6. I don't know if we'll be the worst, but there's a very realistic chance we're going to be pretty bad. Biggest reason? Our head coach was thoroughly outcoached by five guys who were bad enough to get fired last year. Even with an improved roster and potentially better assistants, that's a huge question mark.
  7. Oh please don't let that come back as a freezing cold take
  8. Don't give a rats ass about power rankings, but I find this amusing. And let's be real. After last year, we're in no position to complain about people doubting us.
  9. Falcons beat us last time we played, and the game wasn't really as close as the final score indicated.
  10. Dead last in the Power Rankings... Tweeted out by Stephen Drummond?
  11. You're used to the squat, widebody type at guard?
  12. In this particular case, I think "throwing the football" encompasses passing and quarterback play in general.
  13. Pretty much. If the most ideal situation is for you to do as little as possible, why are you here?
  14. On the flipside (hopefully) McCreight is a long time NFL personnel guy with two Super Bowl rings.
  15. If you recall last year's draft video, the team agrees.
  16. An excerpt that caught my attention regarding how the Panthers are thinking about quarterbacks right now... “When we went back, we loved the way that he played. His release. His moxie,” Panthers coach Matt Rhule said. “He’s gotten injured a little bit because he runs guys over. Or he tries to run guys over. But I think at the end of the day, it’s still a game of who has the ability to throw the ball. And we just love the way that he throws the football. His release. His vision. His timing. And we thought it would translate over to this level.” Heaven knows I'm not a fan of Matt Rhule, but I agree with this.
  17. Outside of his love for old Temple and Baylor guys (and the dumbass "short arms" thing) personnel hasn't been the primary issue. The problem is that he still coaches like a college coach, and that just doesn't work at the pro level. In order to believe that Rhule is going to be successful, you've gotta buy in to the idea that he can learn to be a pro coach. For me, it's not just that I don't buy that idea. It's that I'm really not interested in employing a head coach who has to learn his job to the level that Rhule does.
  18. We owe the Benjamin trade to Brandon Beane. He was the one who initiated it. Beane has certainly made a lot of good moves with Buffalo, but that's not one of them.
  19. I always question whether super successful guys at one place can duplicate that success in another. A lot of times, lightning in a bottle doesn't travel with you.
  20. Speaking of DBs... If the Panthers want to re-sign Jaycee Horn beyond his rookie contract, the numbers by that time could be... substantial.
  21. Burns hasn't been at OTAs. Reports make it sound like it's something personal and not related to the team.
  22. Payton's gonna want a lot of control anywhere he goes. That part would make me nervous.
