Watson not out of woods yet - 2nd grand jury
Mr. Scot replied to FugginPoo's topic in Carolina Panthers
Had a feeling something like that might pop up if we would have gotten him. So so happy to not be part of this story anymore...- 57 replies

I didn't know what the hell "Too shy to shy" was about either. (and I wasn't an old man when that came out)
-
Apparently neither did the Panthers

What this made me think of... Side Note: The chorus to this song makes no sense
-
Who?
-
Team's pretty regularly check out players that they may not have a realistic shot of getting as due diligence or "just in case". I'd say it's highly possible we're just not interested.

And there's a lot of talk but he's still not ready.

What matters: a QB’s talent or their situation?
Mr. Scot replied to Tbe's topic in Carolina Panthers
I don't know if there's a set ratio for it. Probably varies case by case. I've long said that David Carr might have been able to succeed had he not been subjected to some of the worst coaching and roster management imaginable in his first few years with the Texans. On the flipside, I think you could have put Johnny Manziel in the best situation possible and he still would have been a bust. Guys that go really high in the draft tend to either be going to chronically terrible teams or teams that have stumbled and are starting over. The latter group might have a chance, but the first group is generally doomed. There are exceptions of course, but this is the way it tends to go. -
I wouldn't give more than a seventh... I probably wouldn't give a seventh.

Alexander clarifies...

As far as the Panthers representation...
-
They also saw Pickett and Willis at the Senior Bowl but still showed up to their pro days.
-
That, plus no second and third round picks.
-
Weak quarterback class... Strong offensive lineman class... Guess what we'll take
-
We've looked pretty heavily into free agent left tackles. Gotta believe they want to draft a QB.
-
I'm not gonna take pro day results over game tape.

The Niners offered a first round pick for Darnold last season?

We were told about this last year. -
POLL: What Will It Take For You To Be OK With Keeping Rhule?
Mr. Scot replied to travisura's topic in Carolina Panthers
I can't imagine getting on board with that. He's a college coach in a pro game. I just don't think he's qualified. -

Scouting reports for the top three quarterbacks
Mr. Scot replied to Verge's topic in Carolina Panthers
Don't apply that thought to Pickett -
Agreed. I'm hoping that whoever they agree with as a free agent, they can put off finalizing / announcing the deal until after the draft so as not to tip their hand.
-
Ditto. You mean the Horsesh-t Model?
-
I still want a tackle.

FYI... Florio points out that the draft would be the obvious place to look for a possible long-term solution. Falcons GM Terry Fontenot acknowledges that they're going to be looking hard at the draft prospects but says he won't reach for one. If I had to guess, I'd say they're probably going to draft a quarterback. Something to keep in mind if you're talking about trading back...
