The one before? Yeah. That last one wasn't. -

Abdullah has been a really good pickup. -
It's not a "long list" yet, but if it is, I gotta believe he's being forced to look outside. Will anyone take him up on it? Hard to say.

Darnold's playing scared on the run too. He's sliding way earlier than he would have earlier in the year. -

Is this gonna be another one of those games where we look good when it no longer matters? -
Best I can offer is it's better than unemployment. If you have other options though, why would you come here? No idea. And as mentioned at the beginning, I don't know that Rhule would be interested in any of these guys anyway. But here's hoping...

It's not a comparison of the Panthers and Jags. It's an example showing the silliness of suggesting that better facilities equals good ownership. Do you have any evidence to offer on the football side of the equation that would support the notion of David Tepper being a good owner? Not facilities, not investments, not anything besides the actual on the field product...

But far from the only one hoping for it. -
Yeah, several different guys have talked about Tomlin bolting to Chicago. Is he out of contract?
-
That's why you never evaluate off of one good game.
-
Munchak or Castillo, maybe Cable.
-
Yes there are.
-
Minnesota and Chicago both have some good coaches on staff, especially Chicago with OL Coach Juan Castillo. Not posting those until their firings are official though...

Cam's early development under Shula's coaching was pretty solid. He and from looking like he had no idea what he was doing just two weeks prior to his first game to putting up a pretty solid performance. Shula may have been out of his depth as an OC, but yes he's a good quarterback coach.

THE JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS The other early entrant into the coaching derby thanks to Urban Meyer's dipsh-ttery. One thing in common among the better of these coaches is they've spent time with the Seahawks. Offensive Coordinator Darrell Devell: Fitterer connection via his Seahawks years but didn't part on the greatest of terms if I recall correctly Passing Game Coordinator Brian Schottenheimer: Marty's son, and another Fitterer guy (former Seahawks OC); has been a good OC...and a bad one; received head coaching consideration but never won the job Wide Receivers Coach Sanjay Lal: long time receivers coach who has worked with some of the best; spend a year in Seattle so Fitterer likely knows him too

THE LAS VEGAS RAIDERS One of the two teams that have already taken the plunge. Interim head coach Bisaccia is expected to get an interview but not expected to get the job. Special Teams Coach Rich Bisaccia: considered one of the best special teams coaches in the league; served as the team's interim head coach after Gruden resigned Offensive Coordinator Greg Olson: longtime OC for several teams; WCO guy Offensive Line Coach Tom Cable: known to be a good OL coach but has his detractors; head coaching experience Defensive Coordinator Gus Bradley: was Seahawks DC before getting a head coaching job; connected to Scott Fitterer Defensive Line Coach Rod Marinelli: older than dirt but still consideed one of the better DL coaches around; head coaching experience Linebackers Coach Richard Smith: another former Panther coach (LB Coach, late 2000s); coaches Jon Beason early in his career

With axes now officially falling and the Panthers in need of better coaching, it's good to look at the staffs of teams that are letting their coaches go. To be clear, this is not to say that Matt Rhule would or will hire or even look at these guys, but they're available and they're good at what they do.. Starting with... _______________________ THE DENVER BRONCOS With the Broncos announcing their decision today, here are some options from among their likely staff departures... Head Coach Vic Fangio: solid history as a DC; was the Panthers first under Capers Offensive Coordinator Pat Shurmur: very good OC; WCO guy; head coaching experience Offensive Line Coach Mike Munchak: one of the best line coaches in the league; head coaching experience Defensive Coordinator Ed Donatell: thirty plus years of NFL coaching experience; great secondary coach and good DC Defensive Line Coach Bill Kollar: one of the better DL coaches in the league; doesn't do "soft" Outside Linebackers Coach John Pagano: former Ron Rivera colleague; loads of experience as both a DC and an LB Coach Quarterback Coach Mike Shula: yep, that guy; he might be a lousy OC but as a QB coach he's not bad at all

I don't think most people have the patience to devote their time to / spend their hard earned money on a team that might be good seven years from now.
-
What has Tepper done to this point that made you say "Yeah, that makes a lot of sense"? Ass backwards seems to be the norm around here.
-
If you were a Jags fan, would you be happy about watching the team continue to be terrible as long as it was in a better stadium? Does John Miller become a better player by practicing in a nicer facility if he still has the same coaching? The reality is that wanting to win but not knowing how is no different than Jerry Richardson. Having more money doesn't make things better if you still can't get things right on the football side.

Have said it before: For whatever you think of them individually, as a combo they worked.

...and a promise of complete authority and autonomy.
