I'm not that bothered by it, but I'm a little surprised they waited to do it right before game one.

Official New York Jets at Carolina Panthers Gameday Thread!
Mr. Scot replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'm liking Alex Smith on ESPN so far. -
Not really. Closest one is probably Shi Smith, who we had high hopes for as a return guy. Some had similar feelings about Deonte Brown. We come into this game pretty healthy so nothing is too unexpected. (here's hoping we also leave the game that way)

Guessing a whole bunch of people right now are wondering who "Shaw" is. Autocorrect is a batch Edit: Fixed

Darnold takes responsibility for sucking in NYC

It's also hard to deal with points of view that are stupid. The guy in question is basically a troll. That's the reason why we have a mod who's basically got his finger on the "ban" trigger, ready to pull it later today. -
Well like I said, not all the questions are going to be answered after one game. Even so, we'll have a lot more to go by than we did in preseason.
-
Dude... I said a little while back I think Rhule might be somewhat similar to Rivera in the way that he treats lower-round rookies. I'm just hoping he does a better job of seeing when they're ready.

He's not the only person ignoring that guy. -
Time for the speculation, the theories and the guessing to be set aside. Now, we see some real football. No, every question won't be answered today, but at least we'll have some real results to judge by. I'm ready.
-
Jordan just got here. Expecting him to be ready this soon would be a lot to ask.
-
Not contrarian at all...just cautious. I grant the drafts look nice so far, but I also remember Keary Colbert looking pretty good as a rookie too. Will any of our current guys be like that? Don't think so, but you never know. Dont take it as a downer though. There's plenty of reasons to be optimistic It's just my nature to be a "wait and see" guy.
-
Aaaaaahhh, now it makes sense.
-
They were actually scouting another player, a defender whose game film happened to be against Darnold. Don't think anyone's ever said who that defender was.
-
To be clear, his being banned originates with Rayzor, not me. I'm not a mod.

Yeah

Post script...

Do you have a prescription for what you're taking or did you buy it off a street corner?
-
Well, when a team isn't openly shopping a player, somebody else can come up and say "Hey would you trade us this guy?" That's pretty much what I think happened here.
-
I've heard people suggest both Cam and Luke as broadcasters. I just don't see either of them having the personality to make that work.
-
Well remember, in the context of the time he wouldn't necessarily have been a "thought" at all. Darnold wasn't a free agent, and the Jets hadn't made any definitive statements about whether they were wanting to trade him yet. Other teams made trade inquiries, but the Jets response was always that they wanted to go through all their evaluations before making a decision. A lot of teams weren't willing to wait. We were.
-
My jury's still out on all of those things honestly. Is Sam Darnold going to be a great quarterback? I don't know. Is Matt Rhule an NFL head coach? I don't know. Is David Tepper a good owner? I don't know. I'm hoping this season gives me some clarity on all of those things, and I hope the answers are positive. We'll see.

Weird. Are you using a Yahoo email address? I would expect if you can sign in to your Yahoo ID you should be able to join the group. Maybe message @Panthers Rhule since he started the group.
-
And you're the one who gave the stupid response because you didn't understand the question. (hint: the Panthers had nothing to do with it)
-
Just remembering when some folks were saying that Darnold was only insurance in case we couldn't draft a top guy. That take looks pretty stupid now. (not that it didn't back then)
-
To the folks who mentioned the idea of Rhule monkeying with the process...
