Newton mentioned Horn as a great fit for the Panthers...if he fell to the second round.
-
Rhule is reportedly in Columbia today for the Gamecocks pro day.
-
As others have mentioned, it does kind of remind me of Gettleman's first offseason, i.e. signing a bunch of guys most people wouldn't know as depth or bridges. I don't remember Gettleman signing this many in such a short time though.

The Pitts discussion always makes me think of Jimmy Graham. Pitts is probably better than Graham, but I remember when Graham was drafted people were drooling over the kind of mismatches he could create. Same thing when he was traded to Seattle and later signed with Green Bay. To date though, Graham has yet to be part of a Super Bowl effort.

Related: Not sure if this has been mentioned yet but apparently Haason Reddick's contract is structured similar to the one the Saints gave Taysom Hill. (a lot lower figures involved, obviously)

Can't say that shocks me on your part...

Let's be clear: There is nowhere near enough information available yet to know how good (or bad) Scott Fitterer is going to be as Panthers GM. I think most or all of us should understand that. But I am wondering, given what we've seen of free agency and everything so far, what people's feelings are at this point. Encouraged? Excited? Disappointed? Uncertain? Confused? Confounded? Thank God it's not Marty? Something else? Where ya at?
-
Why do you still have Marty in your avatar, dude?
-
Being brutally honest, as of right now yeah, they're better than us. The good thing is we're no longer under the prior regime so there's a chance for improvement.
-
Yeah, saw that. Good grief!

FYI: The other news out of Washington is that Dan Snyder is reportedly buying out his minority partners (related to the lawsuits they're facing as I understand it). The NFL is said to be allowing Snyder to accrue more debt than usual as part of this transaction. One analyst sees this as a sign that Snyder is not likely to be forced out.
-
I'm just hoping they stay with Ron and Marty. What they do with their name is a secondary concern.
-
I just think it sounds silly. Maybe not as bad as "The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim" but still pretty goofy.
-
Hard to say, honestly. Were I in his spot, I might not necessarily feel all that thankful to somebody for whom I played one year, after which they told me I wasn't worth the asking price. Throw in that more than one person has said Matt Rhule is not an easy guy to play for.
-
Always hate that. But yeah, it happens. Heck, my best friend growing up played quarterback from Pee Wee up through Junior High. By the time he went to the 9th grade, he'd already had arthroscopic surgery on both knees.
-
You can definitely wait, though the trend over the past few years has been to sign guys pretty quickly. (thanks, rookie cap)

Wha hoppa?

Sounds like Jets' 2nd pick is open for business...?
Mr. Scot replied to TheCasillas's topic in Carolina Panthers
If he goes to a good team that runs a WCO or an E-P, I do think he's got a chance to succeed. He might never be great, but he could still be successful. Going later in the round probably increases those odds because he'll be landing with a better team. And heaven knows there's been Jones to the Patriots chatter. -
Who do you think will be the Panthers 2021 starting QB?

I didn't know how that whole saga was gonna play out, but I sure as hell didn't see it ending like this. I'm never a fan of when Football stories become something other than football stories. -
Funny thing about that... The year Luke was drafted, his linebacker coach was a guy named Warren Belin. Luke liked him pretty well, and he got credit for helping Luke make the transition from college to pro pretty well. Then he got fired... ...and word was Luke pitched a fit over it. Nothing much came of it though. Belin was replaced by Al Holcomb who coached Luke for most of the rest of his career. After two years elsewhere, Holcomb is back coaching here and Luke gave him loads of credit for his career when he retired. And now Luke talks about it being a business

Probably true. I would say I have zero reservations about Wilson's skill set. When I've watched him play, he's been fantastic.
