  1. Ron really believed in that. Clark's footwork was some of the worst I've ever seen. He looked like he was just constantly trying not to trip over his own feet and fall down.
  2. Technically we're not committed to it yet. We have until March 9th. I'm actually pretty sure nobody's designated a Franchise Tag yet. If they did, I missed it. As far as what it means, not sure what it says about Samuel, but it probably does indicate that our offers and Moton's wishes aren't very close to each other.
  3. I'm for it, but I seem to be in the minority on that. I'd argue it might make more sense this offseason than it ever has.
  4. You have to look back at what he used to be. Then remember that both of the teams who are looking at him have coaches who were in Philly when he was good and likely believe they can make him that way again.
  5. I'm open to any perspective or insight anyone can offer. The Indy media wasn't exactly complimentary of Chris's tenure as GM.
  6. If you have contract terms he agrees with, sure. If you don't, not so easy.
  7. There we go. Stanley as a template? He's a left tackle
  8. Per Jason LaCanfora, or at least according to an article that says LaCanfora said so (it's not on his Twitter). This isn't exactly the first time we've heard that though so it's not hard to believe. Teams are able to apply the Franchise Tag anytime between now and March 9th
  9. Luck protects fools and little children, I think the saying goes. (apparently null and void if you choose to be represented by a black cat, though)
  10. I know the general belief is that the Raiders have decided firmly against trading Derek Carr. Shame. That's a trade I could have gotten on board with.
  11. And his family. I remember him saying that he was so completely obsessive as a football coach that pretty much everything took second place. At least at the time, he didn't want to be that way again. Changed his mind later of course, but that wound up being underwhelming.
  12. They might have to do it sooner rather than later. There's a lot of chatter about the Patriots trading for Marcus Mariota.
  13. Don't know. Might get a discount rate (relatively speaking, probably still a high price though). Ultimately, I still don't think he gets traded at all.
  14. I've long thought the 49ers might be a dark horse for Deshaun Watson given that there's a long-standing relationship between Adam Peters and Nick Caserio.
  15. I'm not a fan either, but it's a real possibility.
  16. If @LinvilleGorge shows up to brag, I'm gonna quote one of his posts about Justin Herbert
  17. I'm not that big a fan. Richardson's original plan was to go after Joe Gibbs. He was gonna offer Gibbs the same kind of role Coughlin had with the Jags. I'll forever wonder what the Panthers history would have been like if Gibbs had said yes. As to Polian, his first target for a head coach was Rich Kotite. Thankful that didn't work out.
  18. For the record, Chris Polian does have some experience as a Director of Pro Personnel. He served as one from 2013 to 2020. In Jacksonville... ...till they fired him.
  19. I normally try to accept all possibilities, but if that team is anything but a grade A sh-t show I'm seriously gonna wonder how. I suppose they could consult with the Dark Prince but I think he's busy trying to help Belichick with his rebuild right now.
  20. Not to worry. They also have a GM in the middle of everything who can help sort it all out. (specifically, the GM who built the Lions team that went 0-16)
  21. That, or Teddy and a mid to low round pick are genuine possibilities. I don't know how seriously we might have gone in on this though. That contract is a killer.
  22. What I find funny is that Marty and the Polians are at very opposite ends of the emotional spectrum. Marty is generally considered to be a nice guy (some might say "pushover") who tends to remain cool and doesn't make enemies. On the flipside, once during a particularly contentious negotiation, Bill Polian picked up a chair and threw it at an agent. Pretty sure there was also a story that Chris threw a punch at someone in the Colts stadium, a reporter if memory serves. That might also have been Bill but I think it was Chris or at the very least Chris was involved. Jerry Richardson reportedly used to write the word "CALM" in big letters on a piece of paper and flash it at Polian during meetings and negotiations at times when it looked like he was starting to lose it. The contrast in styles between Richardson's southern cool and Polian's Northeast attitude was said to be one of the reasons why they parted ways. Then Richardson hired Dave Gettleman (and ultimately parted ways with him too).
  23. Not Bill, his son. Interesting in that Washington now not only has the Panthers former GM but also the son of their original GM. Heck, they even got a guy who was a candidate to replace Hurney at one point. All they're missing is Jerry Richardson having an ownership stake. Also this note from JP Finlay on Mayhew... If everything you know about Chris Polian is that he's Bill's son, you're on par with most people. Chris took over for his dad as Colts GM in 2009. Didn't go so well. He was fired two years later and there were several reports that he created a toxic culture.
  24. First up, Eagles writer Jeff McLane explains where the holdup on the trade appears to be. Makes sense. Like the Lions with Stafford, they're trying to accommodate him, but they don't have to. Thus, unless the Colts up their offer, he remains in limbo, and likely a Bear. One fan asked if there was any chance of him not being traded. McLane answered he thinks "that ship has sailed". Then another asked whether the Panthers might be a potential destination. Back in, apparently indicating there was a time when we were in, but now we're out. I'm guessing we weren't offering much if anything, but it's interesting nonetheless to think that we inquired.
