  1. Cooper had been with the Vikings when Bridgewater was the quarterback there.
  2. Which was all perfectly logical. Don't know why you've gotten flack.over that (of all things).
  3. Another indication of where this is going. Teams are already calling the Texans about offers, and the Texans aren't returning those calls. Tom Pelissero talks about it here...
  4. I remember there was word that Newton's "can't I get a little commitment" video didn't go over well with the Panthers.
  5. I feel like every time the team makes an unpopular move, I hear people predicting that "nobody is going to want to come here". I've yet to see any of that backlash actually happen.
  6. I'd imagine there's a lot we don't know. One thing we do know is that Newton found out was being let go at least a day before the official announcement was made. That's clear because he posted a video of himself on his social media saying "I'm unemployed'.
  7. Honestly, these aren't necessarily positions that require a replacement. I'd imagine what Carrier did will be taken over by one of Rhule's people (Sean Padden, maybe). The logistics guy would probably just be someone internal. I do find an interesting though that we're churning the front office staff. I wasn't sure if they were going to do that now or maybe wait until after the draft. Possible any higher level changes might not come till later.
  8. I was feeling a little masochistic so I went back and looked at that draft. Round 2 - Jimmy Clausen Round 3 - Brandon LaFell Round 3b - Armanti Edwards Round 4 - Eric Norwood (did he ever play a down?) Round 6 - He Who Shall Not Be Named Round 6b - David Gettis (the greatest receiver in Panther history) Round 6c - Jordan Pugh Round 6d - Tony Pike (because Clausen alone wasn't enough) Round 7 - R.J. Stanford Round 7b - Robert McClain
  9. Gotta throw the Greg Little disaster in there too. Tepper gave some pretty clear indications last offseason that he didn't think Marty was doing a good job on the pro side. That's where all the talk about hiring an assistant GM with a pro personnel background came from. That he still seemed to think Marty could be valuable as a drafter worried me, but I guess ultimately he just decided to move on completely.
  10. I had always figured it was primarily Joe Brady who lobbied for Teddy. Was surprised when you told us who was really responsible. It makes perfect sense though. We read well before things really got started that Marty believed the team could win now rather than having to rebuild.
  11. I recognize the name Ray Ratto. I think he used to cover the 49ers but might have gotten fired. Not sure...
  12. Full disclosure: I've never heard of The Defector.
  13. From the article... So I guess he yelled at some kids and might have hurt their feelings and stuff. SOMEBODY STOP HIM!
  14. Last I'd seen, he had a role assisting players with planning out their lives after and outside of football and such. Moving into a personnel related role probably hurt him once changes started being made.
  15. I think I might understand a little better after looking up what he was doing now. From the Panthers media guide: In his role, Carrier works with all facets of the football operations, consulting with general manager Marty Hurney on all football-related topics, including player evaluations, staff makeup and team direction. He attends events throughout the calendar year to interact with draft-eligible players and assess their team fit. Yeah...Those duties are gonna belong to somebody Rhule and Fitterer hire.
  16. I know a lot of people think Caserio is gonna be great. I'm not one of them. I've seen enough of him to know that he knows sh-t, but I don't think that's gonna help him.
  17. For the record, Porter was basically the guy who replaced Brandon Beane in his old logistical role when Beane moved on up to personnel. He came aboard about the same time Marty did.
  18. Carrier seems odd to me in the sense that he's been with the team forever starting from when he was a player. But in the sense that he wasn't tied to Matt Rhule, Scott Fitterer or David Tepper? No.
  19. This dude. Some on, man. Mark Carrier, Willie Green, Don Beebe... How do you not know those names?!
  20. Related: The hire of Mayhew and Hurney has resulted in former do-it-all guy Kyle Smith moving on from Washington to the Falcons.
  21. According to Josh Klein, this actually happened last week but hadn't been announced.
