Speculation of course, but relevant speculation...

I'd suspect the Snyder's timing probably has a lot to do with making sure they can get out of the building with any evidence that might be used against them

Panthers sign Bengals TE Hayden Hurst
Mr. Scot replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers

I don't think there is any standard practice as far as timing. It's just whenever you decide...

Panthers were said to be needing a nickel back

Confirmed..

Yeah, we do. Both from the behind the scenes stuff and from the way things are being conducted now as opposed to how they used to be. I know some don't want to accept it (some due to preconceived notions or in your case probably because you just want to argue about it) but it's pretty obvious. I'd add that if part of your argument is taking what Matt Rhule said after his departure seriously, well...

I don't know, but if we keep up this pace I'm gonna need a couple days off to rest.

At least from what I've seen, he was arguably the best player on a bad line (kind of like Taylor Moton used to be for us). That said, Cincy apparently believes that Brown is an upgrade. My guess Is they thought they could keep Williams and just move him to another spot, but now he wants out.

Yep. Originally reported by The Athletic's Ben Standig...

Already under contract

I cited the people who had final say. Trusting the wrong people is Tepper's fault, but you can't personify "the franchise" as if it's a living thing. It's run by people. In the past it's been run by people who didn't know what they were doing, and yes putting those people in those positions is Tepper's fault, but it's not like he made all the moves himself.
-
As it's been presented to us in the past, the idea of free agency Is to fill your most immediate needs so that you can choose the best available players in the draft. I feel like we're seeing that play out this offseason.
-
The franchise isn't an entity to itself. It's a personification of the people who run it. For the first two years, that was Marty. For the last three, it was Rhule. That's what we have to be redeemed from.
-
Pretty much. He thought he'd be the subject of a bidding war. The only war seems to be teams competing for how far they can distance themselves from him. I expect he winds up back in Baltimore for whatever they're willing to offer.

Not sure if anyone's said it but to be clear, I don't think Tepper needs to redeem the franchise so much as he needs to redeem himself as it's owner.
-
I'd forgotten he and Shenault were teammates.

Well, I'm sold
