  1. Sad to hear. Voth had long been one of the best Panther reporters out there but in the last few years took on a more administrative role. Hate to see him go...
  2. The only actual fact you've got here is that we're not signing Carr. The rest is your opinion. And this is where you run into trouble, letting your opinion influence the facts instead of the other way around.
  3. Bears GM Ryan Poles has stated that he knows he can get three firsts (23, 24 and 25). Less than that isn't gonna cut it.
  4. The dude on the message board isn't the only one reporting that we were seriously interested. They just happen to have the most details, but their details are consistent with what others have already reported.
  5. I don't doubt that we're willing to trade up. I'm not convinced that we feel we have to trade up to #1. Word it is that we like three guys (Richardson being the odd man out per Person) so a trade up to #5 or #3 at the highest would be sufficient.
  6. Yeah, except the actual news (again) goes against what you say. Reports have confirmed that we were calling Carr today to talk money, but the Saints swooped in and got him before we had the chance. I get that it's your preference to ignore news that doesn't suit what you believe, but hey...
  7. The Saints with Carr don't scare me because of Dennis Allen. The Falcons with Jackson don't scare me because Steve Wilks handled him with half his defensive staff tied behind his back. The Bucs don't scare me because...why should they? It's just a matter of us getting things right.
  8. Gantt it also makes it sound like a disappointment for us...
  9. In fact, here's a little more info now... Sounds like the Saints might have beaten us to the punch
  10. Oh, we were definitely interested. Joe Person, Mike Kaye and others confirmed that much. That we weren't as interested as the Saints is actually just my speculation. We'll have to wait until more details come out to know the full truth.
  11. "Rashness is the characteristic of youth, prudence that of mellowed age and discretion the better part of valor." - VinCENT, paraphrasing Cicero and Shakespeare The problem in this thinking is confusing process and person. How you acquire a player is nowhere near as important as how good that player is. It's the same as when Frank Reich said of Ejiro Evero, "I'm hiring a man, not a system."
  12. Yep. We were interested, but apparently not as interested as they were. It's not as safe a choice as Carr would have been, but it's definitely a less expensive one. I'm good with it.
  13. You're about to go off on another angry rent, aren't you? You posted one report that goes against what everybody else is saying and now you're mad that people aren't taking that report more seriously than they are the numerous others. Somehow this seems rational to you.
  14. Well, given that it sounds like he's probably signing with the Saints, I wouldn't hold my breath on that.
  15. Truer than your posts given that they come from people with actual knowledge
  16. Again dude, this is just your opinion. If I'm choosing who to believe between you and Frank Reich, I gotta tell you there's no contest.
  17. It would seem that in yours, words only matter if they're saying what you want them to say. In reality, everybody else's words are different than Smith's words. You choose to believe Smith because he's saying what you want to hear. I choose not to because, again he's not an investigative reporter and it's highly unlikely that his statement (coming from someone with an agenda) is more truthful than a dozen others with none. I get why you'd want a frame me as doing what it is you're actually doing, but I think it's pretty clear everyone can see that.
  18. That's your opinion. I get it. Mine is that when it comes to these decisions, I trust the people we currently have making them. If they decide they want Carr, I'm on board.
  19. "All the other sources are wrong. Only Smith is telling the truth." Yeah, sure
  20. Reich's reported argument for bringing Wentz to the Colts was that he believed he could "fix" him (he later acknowledged that was a mistake). If you've seen the comments from his combine presser, Reich isn't talking about "fixing" Carr.
  21. Believing what the evidence tells you and believing what you want to believe aren't the same thing either. Between the NFLPA encouraging Jackson to stick to his guns with regard to a fully guaranteed contract and pretty much every source outside of Steven A Smith confirming that's what he wants, If you still think that's not what he's asking for, you're wearing blinders.
