Not sure if this is a sign of anything, but a guy who's long been considered one of the top internal candidates to replace Kevin Colbert is now interviewing for a job somewhere else.

Would you really wanna take a guy that Kyle Shanahan couldn't develop and hand him over to our coaches?

I've seen a couple of different sources characterize Lance as being "a year away from being a year away" or similar descriptions. He has the physical tools perhaps, but it's really starting to sound like this gamble isn't going to pay off. And given what they've invested, that's going to be an awful lot of egg on their faces if it doesn't

From what I've read, Twitter guy is wrong. Both Shanahan and Lynch were settled on taking Lance. Right now though they might be...a little less settled on that decision.

Based on what we've seen and heard this offseason, I don't think Fitterer's fate is tied to Rhule at all.

A little addendum to the Trey Lance discussion...

If Rhule goes, anybody that came with him from Baylor/Temple needs to go with him.

I'd be partial to 17 myself (for nostalgia reasons and the fact that I've seen comparisons between him and Delhomme).

He didn't turn down the interview though. He does want to be a GM at some point. Ideal scenario would see him be Fitterer's heir apparent...

No mention of Dan Morgan being included...at least not yet. Doesn't sound like the full list of candidates is out yet though. With all due respect to Dan, I hope he isn't part of the process.

Eeehhh, not really... There are dozens of players who don't get taken in the rounds where teams had them graded on an annual basis just due to how the boards fall. Basically, it's possible to think someone is worthy of a first-round pick but not take them there because you think someone else is a little better (i.e. Pickett). And of course there's also the factor of need...

That may not be as hard to find as you think. But assuming the premise is true, I'd point out that you'd also have a hard time finding anyone who would say a bad thing about Marty Hurney. Would you want him back as GM? ("nice guy" doesn't necessarily equal "good at their job")
