  1. Same reason people go to the Lions or the Jags, promotions and/or connections. I was hoping Morgan could pry Lake Dawson away from them as a college scouting director but they hired someone else for that job. Pro scouting director? If Fitterer's old friend (and former Panthers scout) Trent Kirchner is looking to bail, he'd be a great hire.
  2. A little more... First thought would be someone from the Bills or the Seahawks, and there are some good people to be had from either staff.
  3. Thing is, Allen was generally considered to be a hard worker and good at his job. My worry here is whether this is a Matt Rhule move or Fitterer/Morgan. Rhule has final roster say and general team control, but I don't know if that extends to hiring and firing in the front office (which he technically could have if he has Tepper's ear). If it is Rhule, expect the replacement to be someone loyal to him.
  4. Don't think there's anybody left in the front office from the prior regime. (at least not in the personnel area)
  5. I mean it is basically the same sort of thing. Prime difference I suppose would be this time it's more out of necessity. They chose to do so the last time.
  6. I don't think anybody's gonna have a naked standup of David Tepper made. Okay, maybe Sizzlebuzz.
  7. Richardson did interview Steve Spurrier before hiring John Fox. Word was that the interview went hysterically bad, but Spurrier sucked in the NFL so it turned out okay. Tepper probably would have given him a record breaking contract.
  8. Thanks for reminding me of that, Fuzz
  9. I've got a serious case of PTSD when it comes to trading future picks.
  10. If you break it down, the thought process is basically "We're not gonna get the best guys so let's try to keep the best guys we have." There's a certain logic to it, but it short circuits when you understand that "the best guys we have" really aren't very good.
  11. Again, reasonable analysis. I'd throw in the caveat that while Rhule will most certainly make moves to help save his job, he hasn't necessarily shown great judgment at all times so some of those moves may backfire.
  12. Reasonable, especially number four.
  13. That we treated last season as an "all in / go for broke" year still feels surreal to me.
  14. There are personnel guys who subscribe to the philosophy of "If you like a player, just take him! Who gives a sh-t if someone thinks he should have gone fifteen spots later?" I don't know whether Fitterer or Rhule believe in that notion.
  15. We're not just a sh-tty team. We're a sh-tty team headed for a wasted season with a lame duck coach. Good luck marketing that to free agents.
  16. If they address QB and OL sufficiently in free agency...yeah. I don't really see that happening, though. Linderbaum is something I could probably live with. I remember how valuable young Ryan Kalil was.
  17. I'd expect the team to say pretty much the same thing, honestly. Especially anything coming from Rhule. Stupid fan? No problem. Stupid head coach? Problem. Stupid owner? BIG problem!
  18. Couldn't even begin to explain the "why" on this. It never made sense to me.
  19. I wasn't a big fan of Ricci in that role,
