Carolina may not "be sold" on young (per athletic)

5 to 10. It's not plausible that we lose out. -

I was too. Definitely missed that call. -

We honestly don't have much evidence what Morgan really thought about the Bryce move. For all we know, he was all in. -

We aren't going to be picking at #1 or #2. -
Yeah, my bar is set very low. I also don't think you might see him robbing much of Sanders snaps. For whatever reason, Canales loves him on 3rd down. I can't envision him trusting a rookie if he doesn't trust Chuba.

Fields would be a bad idea if you are bringing him in to start. Unless we want to run the triple option. Ward I don't think will be available when we are picking. I wouldn't HATE the pick but he is a pretty wild gunslinger type. Could be Winston, could be Mahomes. -
TD was a tweener that got pretty bulky. Chinn probably could be the same. It will be interesting to watch his career.

I hope Brooks is worth a price. He needs to be. In the end, he has to conclusively be better than Sanders. If he can't do that, oh wee mayne.
-
I wouldn't particularly care if he was on a fairly incentive laden $8-10ish mil contract. Short term, certainly. That's about what a veteran guy like him would net on the open market, I suspect. I am not ready to say he was "breaking down." He generally was playing well as an individual, but our team was definitely not. I would like to see him with this momentum being built and the changing of WR roles. TBH, whether it is Dalton or Bryce for the rest of the season, we need to be establishing ourselves as a ground and pound football team. Especially if Brooks turns out to be even a slightly above average RB.

Gambling in the first three rounds just makes the building effort longer. So you have to weigh that into the equation. Ultimately, you want to get to a situation where those picks net you at least one starter/starting caliber player and two very good rotational players(at LEAST) almost every year. That can get us back on track. So if you are having to just take a raw gamble in those rounds, versus a guy that can help you win games....I don't think we are in a good spot to be able to afford to do that. Definitely not year after year.

I mean, someone has to start. If we are rolling out Brycd for 17 games in 2025, I suppose that means we will get to watch the rebuilding process all over again. You can try and get another veteran QB in free agency but they will also have a salary attached. If you want to take a gamble on another young and bust QB, that's fine but that also likely leads to more rebuilding after the 2025 season. Those guys so rarely pan out. So what is left? Draft a QB? Sure, maybe. But this isn't an impressive QB draft on paper and they are going to be walking into a challenging situation. Dalton as starter in 2025 isn't waving the white flag, IMO. It's just acknowledging that we have to start attempting to build a franchise. That said, I would never be giving out $20+ mil contracts for older QB's(Flacco, Dalton, etc). That ship has sailed.

Yeah, I am not 100% against trading down but it needs to be at the right price. Also, because this appears to be a draft lacking in a lot of elite prospects, trading down could potentially backfire(as it always can, I suppose) or net a lower yield than typical. I just don't want to be fumbling around and reaching, which in the Tepper era has been a CONSTANT problem. The organizational impatience(and incompetence) been murderous.

Sports are a different animal. It's gladiator poo. You wouldn't go out and put the uniform on of the best burger maker in your neighborhood either. So, when we watch these athletes being amazing and giving their all, it is for more than just a check. The guys that are truly driven and love these games, they are doing it for many more reasons than the money. Boiling it down to a simple transactional thing is simplistic, at best. So, yeah, I can understand how Cam can feel jilted when other great Panthers are trotted out and honored by the organization and he isn't. Especially considering he is overwhelmingly the best QB to have ever played for us and literally put this franchise into the national spotlight because of the player he was, the things he accomplished and the personality that he is. So....yeah, I would be upset about that too if I were in his shoes. The money, that the business side. That other poo, that's personal.

If at some point during the draft a QB becomes BPA, by all means, get them. I just don't want us to keep floundering on these failed QB projects because this team is still awful and can't help them develop. Also....we HAVE to improve our QB evaluation process. Since Tepper took over: Bryce Young Matt Corral Will Grier I mean....wow.

Honestly both of those guys(Tuttle, Robinson) are in the lower tier of players at their position. They are more suited to being backups than anything else, IMO. Clowney is a starting caliber NFL player but he is basically slightly above average and likely trending in the wrong direction as he ages. I am comfortable keeping him around for a couple of seasons but I do think he isn't a guy that is going to provide much value as time goes on. Wonnum is just a wait and see guy. Might prove to be starting caliber or might be JAG. Hopefully we get that answer by the end of the season.

We overpaid at OG because that is a "more affordable" position to make an overpay. DE/EDGE is not a position you can afford to do that. Nor is a high level interior defensive lineman. You are 100% correct that the heavy lifting will have to be in the draft. Every draft pick should be BPA. We don't have enough talent as it is. The goal is getting NFL caliber talent. We got more holes to plug than the Titanic. IDGAF if we end up with a top shelf WR, CB, OL, DT, etc.....just get us some fuging talent in this draft. Don't get cute and don't get stupid.
-
Yeah and if you build a capable team, you also make it a more attractive free agency destination for a top tier QB. Look, if a GREAT QB prospect falls in your lap in the draft, awesome. Pull the trigger. But clamoring to tank or suggesting trading up in a draft like this, that's just lightspeed insane. That's high level desperation and it will lead to more failures while simultaneously pushing this franchise even deeper into a hole.
-
I think most of those guys(Clowney, Robinson, Tuttle, etc) are likely just placeholders for upgrades either through free agency or the draft. It's not just that we aren't that talented in the front seven, it is that there is absolutely zero depth. It goes from bad to worse very quickly when people are getting subbed out. We have to invest a lot of resources in the next 2-3 drafts(or more) to shore that up. When you look at this current front seven, there are not many of these guys(if any) that would be starting for more than half the teams in the NFL right now.

Eh.....throwing it back at him being paid for the work he was doing is a little bit trite. That could be thrown at any legend of this franchise and it would be just as hollow of an argument. There was never a question at all about Cam giving everything on the field(or not a credible one, anyway). Same with Luke or Steve Smith or a lot of our legendary players. So they did give everything they had to us, as fans. And for guys like Cam and Luke specifically, it resulted in the dramatic shortening of their careers. I have zero problem with him making that statement.

I suspect we will be in the 5-10 range, so we should be able to get one of the top defenders available. Not sure it will be a pass rusher. Honestly, this class is pretty light on high end pass rushers.

This dude is off his rocker. Every thread has to devolve into simping for Sanders/Ward. It's completely ridiculous.
-
You know, I don't hate the Redskins as much without Snyder there. They are so far removed from their glory years or even hope of glory that I rarely even see their fans in NC anymore. Because of that, they annoy me far less than in the 90's and 2000's.

Fair but we also can tailor our entire scheme around a player that really is not an elite player at an elite position. I love Chinn but he didn't fit what we were doing and our plans for him didn't work out. It just is what it is.
