  1. I agree. Fans get fixated on the draft as the only means to be successful but many teams have built their Super Bowl caliber teams through free agency, as well. We can't be so myopic in our views of building through the draft. That also means sometimes spending draft capital to get better as a team, either through trading up or trading for talent.
  2. Kirk Cousins is not one of the best QB's in the NFL. Also, we have too many roster needs to draft multiple QB's in a gamble to hit on one. This is a good interior OL draft and we have severe needs in that area. Much better off spending our 2nd-7th round picks on guys like that than gambling on longshot QB's.
  3. They are a far more historically successful franchise than us. So, like I said, I will trade.
  4. Stafford is owed $20 mil in 2021 and $23 mil in 2022. Goff is owed $28.1 mil in 2021, $26.1 mil in 2022, $25.6 mil in 2023 and $26.6 mil in 2024. Cutting him in 2022 would have still resulted in roughly $10 mil in dead cap over two years(same amount of dead cap they will owe for those years now). The cap savings per year are significant. $12.75 mil, $17.55 mil, $23.85 mil, $26.65 mil. Some/all of that will obviously go to Stafford. It is potentially a huge boost for a franchise that seemed basically a QB away from a Super Bowl. They don't have a long window before some of these young guys are gonna need big deals. It's a team built to win now and they are taking their shot. I like the move.
  5. Trading Teddy is going to require us giving up draft capital. I said this before the Stafford trade.
  6. The price for Stafford was likely a 1st and 3rd. The price for taking Goff's contract was a 1st. Don't assume that Watson is suddenly going to have to require 4-5 first round draft picks to obtain.
  7. Jimmy G was already the weakest QB in that division, now he is a very distant 4th. 49ers fans have to be freaking out now.
  8. I think they just really hate that Goff contract. I don't blame them.
  9. I mean......I suppose if you get flummoxed by cameras, maybe. IDK what he is gonna do on game day.
  10. But he was in front of like 3 people.
  11. @SizzleBuzz Tell us how Watson's situation relates to the Appaloosa Model?
  12. How would he handle speaking in front of an entire team, in that case?
  13. I agree with this. If we could get him on a cheap 1 year deal, how is he not an upgrade over the guys we have now? At worst, he is an instant upgrade for our #2 QB.
  14. Last year was perceived as a far weaker QB draft than this year. Reasonable chance Burrow is the 3rd or 4th guy in this draft(depends on upcoming workouts/evaluations). Remember we have had drafts where players like Mitch Trubisky went second overall. So, sometimes a much weaker QB will climb the board because the class is weak, the need for a QB is high and the benefit from hitting on a QB in the draft is so great. I wouldn't be excited about Jones in the second. Any of the top 4 guys I would be excited about getting at 8. Jones or Trask I wouldn't be excited at all about. High intangible, very low ceiling players. I wouldn't even be very excited about a guy like Newman that has a far greater ceiling.
  15. He is also just 25 years old. It would suck to lose that money but if he wants to leave and it becomes a standoff, I suspect he will sit out. He has YEARS of potential income ahead of him in the league. I don't think this scenario is likely, however.
  16. I mean....he is smarter than that dolt the Lions hired.
  17. Lol. Yeah, he can. Why don't you go take a look at what he has pocketed so far? That is more than enough to live comfortably on.
  18. Yeah, the kind of guys that make terrible franchises stay terrible. If the Texans want to the the 1990's Bengals, they are more than welcome to it. Winners don't go to dumpster fires. Burning one of the elite NFL QB's isn't going to get good players to your franchise. But, this is all theory. I suspect the Texans will blink in the next 3 months.
  19. Someone will reach in the late first and get him. I agree.
  20. The Texans will lose more being a dumpster fire than Deshaun will by sitting out a year or two. NFL teams will still want Deshaun Watson. Not many NFL players will want a part of the Houston Texans. Not many fans will want a part of the Houston Texans. Like I said, McNair has plenty of money but if he wants to go to war, he will stand to lose the most.
