Albright: Panthers circling on Pickett
kungfoodude replied to electro's horse's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yeah, I am not seeing Joe Burrow intangibles. Which, to be clear, I was completely not impressed by Burrow. So maybe my skepticism is good news. -
At the game tonight. This is such a fuging cool arena.

I don't know he is gonna be a dud but his ceiling seems so obviously lower than is necessary to be taking in the top 15 -

Listen, we all know this is gonna happen. We aren't exactly opaque when it comes to first round draft moves.- 186 replies

How would YOU address our need at MLB?
kungfoodude replied to WarPanthers89's topic in Carolina Panthers
You bank on maybe some depth guys in the 4th or later with the hope one every few years is a home run. If you are trying to draft day one starters in the 4th or later, you are probably in trouble. -

Yeah, our "rebuilding" has so poorly that we aren't close to a one offseason fix. Fix the most critical needs on the OL and/or at QB and try to salvage what you can in other areas. -
And people rag on PFF's ratings??? Jesus Christ. That draft simulator would make EA Sports blush.

let's see your top 6 selections for Carolina's 1.6 pick
kungfoodude replied to BlitzMonster's topic in Carolina Panthers
I actually do share this concern, as well. I like him as a prospect because he is a high level technician. I think that can help and I think he can bulk a little too. Ryan was a smaller guy too. Smaller and athletic guys can play well there but you have to be a really smart and really technically sound guy. I think Linderbaum is that kind of player. -

LaCanfora asks evaluators about Pickett...
kungfoodude replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
I gotta be honest, I am just beginning not to care at all. -
Yeah, if Cross/Neal/Ekwonu are off the board, Penning, Green and Linderbaum are still there. Trade down, get a starter and maybe another starter on that OL.
-
Need one of the DE's to blow people away at the combine/workouts. Lots of teams with OL needs ahead of us.

Matt Coral from SI 90 prospects in 90 days
kungfoodude replied to raleigh-panther's topic in 2025 NFL Draft
After the Senior Bowl, I would assume Corral might be #1 by default. -
Really strange that he would want to come here, TBH.
-
That isn't how those contracts typically work. He took a short term, small deal so he can raise his stock eventually. Same thing Cam and Winston did. The goal isn't to sign a long term deal for nickels.
-
That contract makes zero sense for him or us.
-
Yeah but that is a sinking/floating turds scenario. Cam was better than Darnold too but not better enough to actually matter. Wouldn't be drastically different with Trubisky. He's definitely better but is he a 10+ win QB here? Extremely unlikely.
-
I mean, I can't help your personal biases. That's a you thing. Trubisky had his moments and he can get hot and torch people but he is also extremely inconsistent and plagued by the crippling downfalls most gunslingers are. He's unlikely to ever be a full time starter in the NFL again.
-
This is literally the defense people had for Darnold when we signed him. Trubisky just wasn't the guy. He isn't ever going to be a franchise QB. He's a backup that is capable of getting hot for a few games and winning while your starter gets healthy.
-
He for sure could have not thrown some of the completely insane INTs he did against just about all high caliber D1 talent. If you want to gamble on a guy in this class, he is the one. But you'd be nuts or desperate to do it with a 1st round pick if you need immediate help. His floor is really, really low.
