I had to hear this bad news. Let's hope it is not as bad as it seems.

AI Overview Negative perceptions of NFL quarterback Kyler Murray focus on his perceived lack of accountability, leadership, and consistency, as well as concerns about his physical durability and struggles with downfield passing. Critics point to his lucrative contract and the team's struggles, arguing that he needs to be more accountable, while some also criticize his decision-making and inability to consistently elevate the team. Player performance and consistency Downfield passing: Some analysts argue Murray struggles to consistently push the ball downfield and that his throws can be inaccurate or floaty. Mediocrity: Certain critiques suggest his play is mediocre, with a failure to turn games around, even with good protection and receivers. Inconsistency: He is often criticized for a lack of consistency and the inability to stay healthy over a full season. Leadership and attitude Lack of accountability: Media members have called for him to take more responsibility for the team's performance. Perceived immaturity: Some have questioned his leadership, with a belief that he is self-centered and immature, though others disagree. "Duck, duck, goose" play: One specific criticism is that he holds the ball too long and scrambles unnecessarily, delaying plays and confusing receivers. Contract and injury concerns Lucrative contract: His large contract is often cited by critics, who argue that his performance does not justify the investment. Injury proneness: There are concerns about his durability due to his style of play and previous injuries, which impacts his long-term reliability.

QB Trey Lance still runs fast, showcasing significant speed in games. While he was clocked at an elite 21.54 mph in college, suggesting high top-end speed, his college tape also indicated a tendency to seek contact and not slide, which were red flags to some evaluators, according to Reddit users. His running ability in the NFL has been highlighted in plays where he gains significant yardage and scores touchdowns, even when escaping pressure.

I do not agree with you saying QB Trey Lance is a mistake and I am anxious to see if NFL G.M's feel the same way when Trey becomes a free agent at seasons end.
-
The L.A. Chargers obtained Trey Lance and he became their #2 QB , so undoubtly they don't agree with you.
-
Sounds more like Trey Lance just had the bad luck to have these freak injuries at the wrong time. I really don't think he has long term history of being injury prone. The Panthers need to let AndyDdalton go and try obtaining Trey Lance,in my opinion to compete with or replace Bryce Young.
-
Probably a vet, someone like QB Mike White who is on the current roster and should presently be ahead of Andy Dalton as the # 2 Qb,in my opinion.

QB Trey Lance is a free agent after the 2025 season because he signed a one-year contract with the Los Angeles Chargers in April 2025. This contract, which is set to expire after the 2025 season, makes him an unrestricted free agent at the end of 2025. Contract Status: Lance signed a one-year deal with the Chargers in April 2025, meaning he will become an unrestricted free agent after the 2025 season concludes. Canales is telling us, but we aren’t listening
KatsAzz replied to ProcessBlue2's topic in Carolina Panthers
My ideal plan would have Trey Lance step right in next year as the starting QB and have Mike White as the back up. I would have more confidence that they could both do the job than try depending on getting an older veteran QB that are scarce and hard to find.available. -
ESPN's Benjamin Solak on Panthers QB situation

Trey Lance is an upcoming free agent, I will lose all cnfidence in the Panthers if they don't sign him and sign him quickly. Trey Lance's draft projection was No. 3 overall in the 2021 NFL Draft, a projection that was met with near-unanimous agreement among analysts. He was the third quarterback taken in the first round, after Trevor Lawrence and Zach Wilson, and was considered a top-five prospect with the potential for a high ceiling. Draft position: Selected with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft by the San Francisco 49ers. Overall ranking: Considered a top-five prospect and one of the best quarterbacks in the highly-touted 2021 draft class. Strengths: Praised for his size, arm strength, and mobility, with analysts noting his high ceiling as a player. Areas for growth: Identified as a raw talent with limited starting experience, suggesting a need for development and time to acclimate to the NFL. -

Once it is determined the Panthers are out of the playoffs, I would like to see QB Mike White play a game. I have followed QB Trey Lance a long, and he is an upcoming free agent I am hoping the Panthers try to sign. Trey checks all the right boxes and would be an ideal replacement to Bryce Young who I hope is on his way out. -

Thanks, you did a nice summary job. Canales was trying to be polite and not throw Bryce Young under the bus to the public, however, it was easy to read into his replies that he was not confident that Bryce Young could be counted on to make deep throws down field. -

Trey Lance beat out Taylor Heinicke for the L.A. Chargers back up QB postion behind Justin Herbert during the preseason. Trey is only 25 and would be better, in my opinion, than Brisset, Bridgewater, Mac Jones or Winston. -

According to both Lynch and Shanahan. Both men said Trey Lance expressed his desire for a fresh start and a better opportunity elsewhere. Just 2 1/2 years after the 49ers made a huge investment in Lance, the Cowboys acquired him for, comparatively, a minimal commitment. Trey Lance, like most NFL QB's, wants to be a starter and in my opinion is better than a whole lot of NFL QB's that are starting now. Lance has the misfortune to be placed behind high salary, good QB's that the team desires to stick with. If the Panthers are smart enough to obtain him, he can replace Bryce Young and take the Panthers to a much higher level ( Think Playoffs ) than Young ever could. -

Trey Lance is currently the #2 QB for the L.A. Chargers and will be a free agent after this season. He would be as good or better that any available QB as a backup or possible starter.. Lance secured the Chargers backup job behind starter Justin Herbert after beating out Taylor Heinicke during the preseason. The Chargers decided to keep only two quarterbacks on the final roster, which made Lance the primary backup. -
If the Panthers ( Owner and Management ) haven't figured out by now that Bryce Young is not worth the 5th year option, they don't deserve to be involved with an NFL team.

Where does Bryce rank on the all-time draft bust list?
KatsAzz replied to MRenshaw's topic in Carolina Panthers
If Bryce Young is not the biggest QB bust considering what was given up to obtain him, Young is certainly in the # 3 group. -
It is very obvious that the noodle armed Bryce Young is not now or will never be a competent NFL Starting QB.
-
Should Trey Lance be considered a "Good" Panthers prospect with high upside due to his arm strength and athleticism It seems his NFL career has been inconsistent due to a lack of playing time, injuries, and a need for further development in areas like accuracy and decision-making. He has shown promise in preseason games, with coaches praising his poise and ability to execute plays, but his professional stats have been limited and he has struggled with turnovers in the past. Just asking.

( "Trey Lance is an American football quarterback born on May 9, 2000, known for his time at North Dakota State University (NDSU), where he won two FCS National Championships, and his draft history in the NFL ") ( "After being the No. 3 overall pick by the San Francisco 49ers in 2021, he was later traded to the Dallas Cowboys and currently plays for the Los Angeles Chargers. His collegiate career was highly successful but short, leading to the perception that he would need significant development time to transition to the NFL ")

Hendon Hooker is gone, now I am wondering if QB Mike White will have any upside, or just eventually fade away?
