  1. There is a 40-60 million guaranteed tier.....and there is a 100 million tier. Burns is in the 40-60 million tier. You can even let him reset the top of it like Bosa just did with his tier. But Burns isn't worth 100+ guaranteed. He isn't the complete and dominant player like those that belong there. and folks really need to talk about guranteed and not average per year. Guaranteed is what counts, the rest if window dressing.
  2. plenty of pass rushers have been on the move of late…..for practically half the guarantee money of Bosa. maybe folks would want to see Burns maybe play one real game in our new scheme before locking up 120+ guaranteed.
  3. I mean, I was just responding to the declaration that if Burns wasn’t on the field the D couldn’t tie their own shoes. in the one game he didn’t suit up for last year, they won with D. So they can add 1+1 and do some basics. and we got Evero. He created pressure last year when they traded Chubb. Obviously you want Burns. I’m just saying there are limits. It’s a replaceable league. Hence why all the contracts of pass rush specialist of late….have been deals with new teams.
  4. Fitt would be public enemy #1. Burns just catching shrapnel every game he doesn’t do something.
  5. 31 teams ain’t paying him 120+ guaranteed. Not as a pass rush specialist. You would need to be dominant run defender too with the pass rush game for 31 teams to hit the 120+ club. one guy at 100+ is a weak run defender. And it’s the Browns. Who do dumb things. See Watson. And their entire history.
  6. Nothing really matters but the guaranteed money. Burns isn’t worth 120M+ guaranteed All the other comparable guys have been around 40-60ish in recent deals.
  7. We saw the defense without Burns last year we held our opponent to their lowest point total we held anyone to all year. 7 points. and if you win scoring 10 points, that’s your defense getting you the win. So it can and did function minus Burns last year. Granted your clearly want Burns. But 120 million guaranteed is 120 million guaranteed.
  8. Again, Reddick, Chubb, Von Miller… you can get great pass rushers for 40-60 guaranteed. All recent deals. paying Burns 120+ guaranteed is just bad business
  9. Guaranteed money Reddick 30M Von Miller -51M Chubb -53M Crosby - 53M all these deals were just done not long ago Folks want to give Burns 120+ guaranteed
  10. It’s about the guaranteed. And Burns doesn’t need to sniff 120+.
  11. Contracts do go up. They don’t go up from 60m guaranteed to 120+guaranteed in a less than a year….when talking about comparable players.
  12. Peyton Manning rewrote the rookie passing record book across the board as a passer. That’s not him intentionally tanking lol.
  13. Bad contracts/deals are bad no matter the position. And they add up. no one is saying don’t pay Burns. But Bosa money would be dumb. 120+ guaranteed? Comparable players are at half that in that last year. And our dumb management of things has never been limited to just RBs and LBs.
  14. Well, I do think at times the cap talk is exaggerated in terms of what you can and can’t do. But 120+ million guaranteed? For largely a pass rusher? That’s not in the ballpark of what top tier pass rushers have been getting in the last year. Bosa isn’t just an elite pass rusher. He is elite everything. And that’s probably too much of everything too. Which isn’t Burns. I got no problem paying Burns . I have an issue with Bosa guaranteed money.
  15. If he isn’t first ballot, first ballot defenders no longer exist
  16. This. And being a liability in the run game also doesn’t make the chart the gap between the two isn’t small. And the difference in guaranteed money shouldn’t be small either
  17. It’s our team. And how they manage the cap and contracts impacts the quality of the team we root for. and this board has spent decades complaining about the bad contracts and management…. and how that impacts our ability to build quality rosters to compete.
  18. My argument remains Bosa isn’t the comp to align Burns’ contract too. Comparable edge rushers are. Burns can talk about Bosa all he wants. If I am Fitt, I’m talking about comparable pass rushers.
  19. Bosa’s shouldn’t be the factor. And now that we have seen it….that just doubles that point. Just because a team does something stupid doesn’t mean the rest of the league follows suit, with players that aren’t comps. Paying Burns 120+ million guaranteed? Debating that isn’t a debate. Fire Fitt today if he is that dumb.
  20. Burns should be nowhere near that lol. 122 guaranteed? Burns should be closer to half of that amount. Which is the neighborhood Chubb just signed at.
  21. Pretty much, Matt Rhule could have walked into another NFL building if someone was dumb enough and everyone would be pitching all this fluff. I mean just look at what was said going into that lameduck year 3 season of Rhule’s. High praise. At the time.
  22. Well, given we drafted Bryce Young and have to develop him. Which is what the next 1-3 years will really be about. I’d prefer Moore. My answer probably would depend where my team was. We hit a legit true rebuild window. Burns was essentially the one move running counter to it.
  23. well, we have a rookie QB we need to build around. Just bandaids on the roster. You could spend a first round pick on a freak skill player…..a first round pick on a freak pass rusher. Both on rookie deals. or you use those pick and alter the Bryce Young trade. DJ Moore is still a Panther and you still got ammo for the draft or use those picks to move in drafts/trades and whatever Mr. In On Every Deal could find. all sorts of stuff you could do
  24. If Bosa is only getting 1 mill more than Burns…..that will tell you Bosa got screwed or Carolina got screwed. Burns and Bosa aren’t the same. part of the board has always rooted for overpaying and bad contracts. Then bitch at Hurney or whoever for doing what they begged for a couple years later
