I mean, how many can you say Fox, Capers, Seifert or Rhule did. and for all the poo Ron gets on Cam….I don’t think most would have allowed Cam to be special. Ron did. It’s was a double edged sword that allowed us to see greatness. Ron doesn’t get credit for all the risks he did take that lead to Cam being Cam. all of our coaches had some great players. Matt Rhule was clearly the worst coach though. Not just game day either. Universally. I’d argue Fox probably had the most talented rosters overall.

Star was dominant. He just didn't play a sexy role. Panthers lived in the top 10 vs the run during the Star era. Often top 5. We haven't been there since he left. Super underrated IMO. We went with the sexy sack guy in Short come pay time. Star was always the better of the two IMO.

Star and DJ Moore were great picks too. The Panthers have tons of flaws. But the Panthers in the first round vs their peers have been way better than average. Even amongst those that generally have good draft position.

Yeah, zero chance Tepper, Frank, Evero, Brown, Caldwell, McCown, all agree on what to do at #1. Same will be applied to every pick once the madness starts of the draft too. But the narrative like all teams will be they all agree and got exactly the dude they were hoping to get at random pick spot # whatever. I would assume Frank and Tepper got the most sway with their preference followed by Fitt. I think who has the most sway depends year to year. I would assume an experienced first year coach has a lot of sway on the direction we go with the first pick. I think Fitt had more sway than the HC last draft. Just because Rhule was on the hotseat.

We don't know who thinks what. Every year the rumors say there are differing opinions in house. We never will know until years later who was in what camps. And you largely never know that unless things go really bad.

I'll be happy with Young or Stroud. Don't care at this point. I'll be unhappy with anything else at #1.

I actually would have let Burns go. Largely looking contracts and timelines. And I am largely assuming the Panthers are going to sign him to a massive deal. We just extended DJ Moore. Contract was decent given what he was. DJ Moore was an overall complete WR that got it consistently done in the worst of times. We are drafting a rookie QB we hope to develop. Burns is a one dimensional DE. I think the Panthers are going to pay him like he is a complete and dominant DE. Which he isn't. And he isn't a freakshow out of this world pass rusher. Fine player that I loved to have....but that was rookie contract Burns. I'm no longer thinking of that dude.

How many teams trade away their 2 clear cut best offensive players in the same year? It's not common. How many teams in QB purgatory for years with nothing on the roster draft DBs in the top 10 with good QB prospects falling in their laps. It's not common. Rhule saying he wanted Cam, cutting Cam, and then bringing Cam back a year later to save their jobs also was not predictable. My point is simply you can't say we 0% chance of drafting AR. Our front office is NOT predictable. And there are legit people saying he has some support here. and NFL teams despite their absurd payrolls are mom and pop shops. And any routinely do idiotic stuff all the time.

If I told you this time last year.....the Panthers front office was trading CMC and DJ Moore. Most would say no chance in hell to that. If I told you when Matt Rhule was hired his solution to the Panthers problem was to sign Sam, Robbie (Jets and Jags being casted off) and add bunch of Baylor/Temple guys the day he was hired? People would say no chance in hell that was a comedy that would never happen. I mean, we drafted a corner in the top 10 with the worst QB roster in the NFL. You can't predict things.

I’ll take an Eli/Rivers type though. That tier QB. I don’t need Rodgers/Peyton. Borderline is fine with me. That was Cam too.

I certainly think we have a very sound coaching staff. developing super raw QB? Not sure that’s anyone’s speciality in Carolina. Richardson just seems like the risky possible play there could be. And we are giving up a lot for the pick. I just want a functional QB. I don’t care if they are a HOFer. I want a higher floor than Richardson has
