  1. I would think Sean Payton largely already has who he wants ready to go wherever he goes. I don't think the Panthers have the ability to take his preferred option off the market. His guy is just going to wait on him to go wherever and then Payton hires him.
  2. I mean, but that's still not the norm. They weren't interviewing Joe Brady publicly because Matt Rhule wanted to bring him in. I do find it odd that we have seen 2 young coordinators pass on a NFL HC opportunity here. Think that says a lot. I mean, I just can't blindly act like our front office suddenly is now smart. I think they are just doing more dumb stuff. Just different dumb stuff.
  3. If you want Sean Payton you just hire him and let him build out his team/staff. Simple as that. You don’t need a bad front office dictating coordinators to a HC hire. Now have 2 young coordinators saying no thanks to a NFL HC opportunity here. What’s that say.
  4. So the Panthers are interviewing for coordinators the same time as HC? so that means are front office essentially wants to put a staff together themselves vs letting the HC do it? That sounds like a nice way to make the job unattractive to a young HC. Not let him hire his own team but give him one? Just put the requirement he has to have a former HC on staff and let him choose where it goes
  5. this seems like my worst case scenario. And I think Payton is just using us. Nor do I want him. I don't want an old school DC. That's Wilks. Too conservative. You can't change it. and Payton is horrible. He is Sean Payton.
  6. yeah, the Sam Darnold deal and contact was terrible given the situation we were in. A rebuilding team paid for the worst starting QB in the NFL and predictably got just that. and it's not just about dollars/cost. It's about building and reps. Adding horrific vets to take reps and start isn't how you build a team. Take this past offseason, Corral got no reps hardly in camp. Why? Because we had horrific vets QBs taking all the reps. yes, I question giving up the farm for Matt Stafford. He was a rental for a team a QB away. Which means Stafford made a lot of sense for the Rams.....and made literally zero sense for the rebuilding Carolina Panthers. So we would have given up the farm for a QB washed after 1 year into his rental that we gave up the farm for it. And we wouldn't have a title or anything to show for acquiring him. Just lost draft picks that a rebuilding team needs. The Ram and Panthers weren't comparable. We were supposed to rebuild. Rhule/Fitt weren't doing that well. At all. Too often they were making moves of a win now franchise. And Fitt shouldn't get a pass
  7. CJ Henderson, Sam Darnold, Baker Mayfield, etc. Not to mention we tried to give away the farm for Watson, Stafford, etc. Thankfully those players saved Fitt and company from themselves. Yeah, pretty sure in on every deal has PROVEN to put us into conversations and then pulling the trigger on players we shouldn't be adding. and the GM is drafting DBs and passing on QBs in the top 10 lol. Which is why you can't call Fitt good at this stage.
  8. Fitt is still gigantic unknown IMO. Can't really call him a good GM. Incomplete is really the only grade he can get. Tepper hasn't proven he is willing to move on from mistakes quickly. See Rhule getting a pointless 3rd year. It was painfully clear it was time to move on from him and he willingly chose to waste everyone's time.
  9. Carolina being "in on every deal" has proven to not be something to boast about. We are in on all the players we shouldn't be adding to the roster.
  10. Damn impressive. Trevor went full blown Jake Delhomme vs AZ…..and shook that off to comeback and win.
  11. I think Wilks could get us in playoff contention. His DNA is too conservative to really put you in contention of being anything special though. Goff still put up nearly 400 yards and 3 passing TDs on us. Their run game just didn't show up at all.
  12. give me Ben Johnson. That's the type guy we should of gone after when we let Ron go. *requirement is he hires a DC that was former HC or something along those lines. I want my green HC to have someone on staff that has been through it all.
  13. Hope is all we got. I got very little confidence in Tepper at this point.
  14. Tepper values using his stadium for multiple purposes over football. He pretty much has said so.
  15. Tampa also had 3 TD drives in the 4th quarter. Which were made aided by the fact Sam and the O had 3 consecutive pathetic series back to back to back in the 4th.
  16. Wilks just doesn't fit in the present-day era IMO. He is a Fox/Ron repeat. His philosophy will get you to around .500. Respectable. And maybe you will randomly catch lighting in a bottle in a random year. I still favor attempting something new and just pretending Matt Rhule never happened. I don't think the Rhule error should have us going right back to what we have always been. I still think Wilks is getting a bump coming off how horrific Rhule was. His audition was also filled with some pretty painfully conservative and bad management of games at times. I'd love Wilks as a DC. Not at HC. Still think the present day NFL is about offense. And will continue to trend that way as it has.
  17. Jake Delhomme didn't really play in the present-day era. Completion % averages and expectations for the QB have gone up because of the way the game is called now.
  18. Bennett is 25 years old and has been playing college football for 6 years. My analysis is simply it doesn't feel the same anymore. I mean it isn't the same. When is the last time a championship was won by a 25 year old, in his 6th year of college football, playing with a bunch of guys openly paid. That's not college football as we have known it. I don't put it on par with a freshman 19 year old Trevor Lawarence running the table. Or a Tua coming off the bench for another example. Those titles just feel different. Because we were watching perceived kids playing college football. They don't feel the same. It just feels like minor league pro ball. And I would argue that is all it is now. I felt there were 2 first round caliber talents Wilson's year. And he wasn't one of them. I wouldn't want Wilson or Bennett for 2 totally different reasons.
  19. 5 wins (fired HC) 5 wins 5 wins 7 wins (fired HC and traded away franchise QB) I'm sure our failures have something to do with the decisions made by the Teppers. And Tepper made his wife Chief Admin of Tepper of Sports. Which is over the Panthers. And Tepper Sports has been dysfunctional from outside appearances for some time. When you can't win more than 7 games......Tepper and company are exactly who we should bitch about. Them pimping his wife as a decision maker deserves criticism given our lack of success and her lack of qualifications. This seems like the stuff we should bitch about.
  20. Is there another team president in the NFL….whose only background info is married a billionaire in 2019?
