Well, my theory on why he starts Sam first is that going to Baker then gives him something in order to extend his time. He can BS why he doesn’t start Baker out of the gate. If he starts Baker out of the gate, we suck and the boos come early like last year…he is fired in season. There are no scapegoats or players this year that would buy him more time if the stadium does what it did last year. Baker will start. Rhule wanted him. But I have said for some time I predict Sam opens on week 1 as the starter and Rhule gets out of him whatever he can first. He can only get usage out of Sam pre Baker IMO. Rhule is going to do Matt Rhule things. I will keep betting on that.

watch Rhule trot Sam out there week 1. I still think those odds are way higher than the masses think.

I think BOA forces Tepper’s hand if the boos return as early as they did last season in Charlotte. That IMO is Rhule’s battle. Home wins might be the most important aspect. His wins if there aren’t a lot are going to need to be slanted at home.

with the #1 overall pick I would take Taylor over CMC. Which is basically the scenario to an extent. The safer pick at 1 is the better pick IMO. CMC's past 2 seasons simply have to factor. but that's only if there is money on the line. If not take CMC.

I don't know. You and I might not. But a lot of these athletes are wired to have little regard for their own personal safety. I don't think taking away protections is going to make them safer. That's ultimately asking the players to solve the issue. They won't IMO. You have to protect them from themselves.

I mean, I think people like Sam Darnold. I think that kind of blurs the discussion. Thinking someone is a good or likeable human doesn't mean they believe in them at job X. There was reporting last year by The Athletic that people were growing sour on Rhule the HC. So by all accounts, the players aren't all in on Rhule the HC.

Always found it weird. I get him wanting a Watson type. But given Sam was his QB….seems like a gunslinger like Baker should of always been welcomed by a WR.

no one is trading for Sam even if we pay all his salary. Everyone outside of Matt Rhule knows you can't play him.

Problem with evaluating our DBs in our practices…..is we also have very weak QBs. So how much of it is the bad QBs vs great DB play when it comes to Henderson.

Trubisky managed to pull off a career winning record and a has a better comp % than anyone on our roster. He isn’t good. But the Bears weren’t loaded around him and he didn’t fug it up the operations to thrill point they couldn’t win playing very traditional ball. Steelers probably got a better dude in front of their rookie than we do.

PJ is practice squad eligible. I don’t think Rhule dumps his guy in a hotseat year. Especially not one where we stumbled into 2 wins with him. WWRD

Sam is doing exactly what he did last camp. Checking down. Playing it safe. We saw what that lead to in season…..the worst season of his career. Sam isn’t a NFL QB.
