Probably all true. I still think he is done as a starter. Could be a great short yardage role player.

Actually feeling a little optimistic today and giving him a grade bump

I don’t think we are viewed that way though. I think we are viewed as desperate trying play like we aren’t. and I’m sort using Sam’s trade value as a measuring stick. While I think Baker could be had for cheaper given the bad blood I think some of stuff talked about just too low. If we could get him for a 7th? He’d already be here. The money discussion is also a pick debate IMO.

Well everyone is healthy right now and has a plan. The cap hit is what it is. So why not just sit on the asset if Carolina wants to only give you a 7th. QBs go down every year. And he isn’t much a distraction off to the side not being part of the team. I’d take him for a 7th. I just think the cost will be much more. Think the deal would already been done if they were willing to go that low.

Baker and Cam are both better than Sam. But that can’t be the decision given where we are. They both are pointless in the grand scheme. And I’m a huge Cam guy. But good bye was last year. we either should be developing Corralto see what is there or letting Sam get us another top 10 pick IMO

Practice squad rules are vastly different now. Blaine Gabbert was on a freaking practice squad last year. Rhule would have to cut PJ for me to believe it. He is super cheap and PJ was a big part in Rhule getting to where he is today. So, yeah, and that type loyalty frankly doesn't bother me if it is limited. PJ actually would be a great scout team type QB for prepping for opponents because of his athleticism. He can mimic a greater variety of opponents. and everyone on the practice squad isn't vulnerable of getting poached off by others teams. Lot of rule changes the last couple seasons. You can make 6 untouchable I believe.

people come to a Panthers message board (where the fanatic fans reside) and some are mad people are complaining about the coach/owners while we are presently in the worst window of the franchises existence lol. It's like choosing to visit New Orleans during Mardi Gras and complaining about too high of a percentage of drunks and boobs. Heck, Ron/Marty and even Foxy hit windows where they got just as much heat as Rhule is getting....and Ron/Fox were clearly better NFL coaches. Yet some are demanding kid gloves for Rhule.

If we sign Baker Mayfield it changes things. Pretty distinctly. Baker would be the #1 and Sam Darnold the #2 heading into week 1. It's not a compeittion either. Baker would be the man. And PJ isn't a guarantee cut because of the Rhule connection. Matt Corral's odds of following a more traditional route of developing behind the scenes then goes up with the adding of Baker Mayfield. It's why I don't want Baker. I want to see Corral play and early (which for me would be midseason). would Rhule making Corral inactive of been a better word? Probably. But the point is pretty much the same regardless. I don't want Baker. Because of the impact he will have and how pointless he is in the grander picture. That's the point of the comment. And their is a reported divide on Baker. The logical assumption is Rhule is the one who wants him. Because Rhule needs to win and quick. Developing Corral and not really caring about wins isn't a luxury he has coming off that horrific 2021.

win%, comp%, TDs to INTs, QB rating, QBR. Jacoby beats Sam on basically every metric. Plenty of them are close but the huge disparity on TDs to INTs I think would comfortably put Jacoby ahead (pending you hadn't overpaid Sam and weren't letting the contract/investment dictate position). I'd personally put Jacoby in the Teddy tier. So I'm not saying Jacoby is good but I'd start him or Teddy over Sam any day. I think they are safe backup style QBs. They aren't winning you games but they can have you in position for someone else to do it.

that's because Rhule and Tepper both have sucked. So you don't have an actual arguement against that.... you just complain and make over the top projections about hatred. again, sometimes people suck at their jobs. This is where it gets talked about in reference the Panthers. You deem that hatred. But that's a you thing. You will need to work on that. People sucking at their jobs is just a reality. Doesn't make them bad people.
-
you and sizzle might need a safe space thread where everyone promises not to say a bad word about Tepper and Rhule. If we give you that, will you quit complaining thread to thread because people think Matt Rhule sucks at this job.
-
only person that uses the world hate is you. as you go thread to thread to thread complaining that other people think different than you. some people suck at their jobs. Matt Rhule is one of those people. It doesn't make you a bad person. One day you will learn that.

I don’t know if you value Chris Simms but in his breakdown on Sam in his countdown he said it would be hard for Corral not to see the field because Sam’s leash will be short….and commented that despite raw Corral will simply look to be the more talented guy from the jump. With intangibles on top of that. And it gets hard to justify to a locker room how a clearly more talented kid isn’t playing. Corral getting out there really just comes down to how bad Sam is and the generally sentiment in house and the stadium IMO. Corral needs to sit. Carolina probably doesn’t have high odds of that being the path though.

Only difference is Baker becomes our #1 and Sam probably goes to their practice squad.

if Matt Corral was my son I wouldn’t of wanted him to be drafted here. We have too much potential for the non-ideal to occur. Plus, Matt simply has potential to be used as a means for this staff to weather the storm of an unpleased home crowd. It started week 9 last year. Leash will be shorter. ideally Corral would have gone to a team and not be seen all season. I’m just acknowledging we have high odds of not doing ideal things with him. If Sam/Rhule start getting boo bird after 5-7 weeks….what are they going to do? PJ might buy them a couple weeks. it is what it is. We still have a comically weak QB roster. Everyone talks about the Browns, they got 3 QBs better than Sam.

the Jake Delhomme tribute to the Killers song will forever be my favorite! This dudes been awesome at what he does for a long time.

Problem for Cam is all the teams he would fit on have young QBs where the coach might be worried about how a #1 would deal with it all. Because even as a legit backup Cam is going to default into some form of leadership role. Like he make sense as goal line threat for someone like the Chargers. Would take some strain of Ekler who is injury prone. But Herbert is still growing in that leadership role. All the Brees, Eli’s, Rivers, etc that could of dealt with it are gone. Rams? They have a QB and coach that could deal with it. And the run game weakness. That’s about the only team I could see Cam fitting on that meets his criteria.

How many 3rd round rookie QBs have been drafted to a comparable situation that is the 2022 Carolina Panthers. It’s all relative. if our QB situation is Sam, PJ and Corral going into week 1? I think odds favor Corral getting on the field at some point. starting Corral as a rookie isn’t ideal. But we likely won’t be in a position to do ideal stuff. Fans turned on Sam/Rhule in week 9 with the boos. So if we don’t win and Sam is bad….I think it comes even earlier this upcoming year. And it matters. Tepper can’t have his coach and QB booed out of BoA for half a season.
