Per Aaron Wilson: “The Panthers love Penning”
CRA replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
if someone like Evan Neal drops to #6? That's a better situation. Because he is a better LT prospect than either of those 2. -

Imagine a stud LT falls to #6.....and they trade back to pick up someone who largely projects as a RT just to get 2nd round pick to make up for other bad moves by the front office.- 42 replies

I think the absurd QB line was something he hopes to use when they draft a QB after trading down. And one of them will 100% be there because they aren't good enough prospects to go high. Claim they got the QB later that they deemed #6 worthy. this is an org that knows they look like schmucks. They are going to go about this draft to hopefully attempt some damage control to how bad they look. Which isn't what you want to see. There is no way they can put Matt Rhule out there and only have an OT in the first 3 rounds to show for it. Rhule needs distractions. OT isn't enough. Desperate teams do dumb things.

I think they will basically give the #6 away if it comes to it. They want to trade down. It's pretty clear. And I think the 2 QBs we would consider at 6 is just said so they can draft one later in a trade down and make the bold claim he was totally one of the guys they felt comfortable drafting at #6. There are not 2 QBs who any sane team should feel cool with drafting at 6. That's just lighting BPA on fire and being desperate if it were true.
-
if you can't put your HC out there because of his job as football coach...... he shouldn't be your football coach. It's pretty simple. Tepper I guess is what he is. He owns it and he can't fire himself.
-
They are going to trade down. Draft a QB in the first. Claim he was one of the QBs they had a top 10 grade on and would have drafted at #6. Which is bunk, none of these guys are that good to be viewed as such. Pick up a 2nd rounder. Who won't be a great OT.
-
this is the guy who just traded away all the picks from this class. Clearly, protecting future picks isn't something he has cared about.
-
noticed how he skipped over that 2nd round pick. and 4th. The Darnold ones.
-
he should of asked why the Jets were drafting Zach Wilson and watched some taped.
-
Got to think by this show.... Fitt is trading out of 6 to try to gain back a bunch of picks...that he traded all away. It's going to be hard to roll Matt Rhule out there when all they have to talk about is 1 player after the top 3 rounds end. Panthers really seem of late they are more focused on how their bad coach and owner look

Tepper and Rhule are in an underground bunker. Hiding. Just embarrassing.

lot of big time college programs are slapping knee braces on everyone on the OL. All of the Alabama linemen take part in what is known as prophylactic bracing. So do most of the linemen for Clemson, which will face Alabama here in the national championship game on Monday night. So do the big men at Louisiana State. And at Florida. And at Ohio State. Michigan made a rule about bracing just this past season. And, lest it seem like a top-tier-only phenomenon, the behemoths at North Texas do it, too. Colleges Swear by Football Knee Braces. Not All Players and Experts Do. - The New York Times (nytimes.com)

knee braces on college OL isn't a red flag in itself though. They are slapping them on everyone.

chatter might just be some team looking to get him to fall a slot or two to snag him. he might be my favorite OT
-
I think I got a chubby thinking about this line...
CRA replied to Ivan The Awesome's topic in Carolina Panthers
Darnold is a bad QB. Whatever OL you put in front of him...he will downgrade it and make it look bad. It's what bad QBs do. Good QBs do the opposite. Make OLs look better. -
I've never been less excited about a draft in Panthers history.

the ultimate Matt Rhule move will be Rhule trading away 2023 picks to get picks in the 1st or 2nd round. Fugging the next HC. And clueless Tepper has the Panthers looking like that failed project down in Rock Hill. -
Think only 2 got invited. Willis and Corral
-
Another Otah? Otah was a beast of man. But the body said no. And people hate Otah for listening. But he was a homerun on the talent aspect of the pick.
-
I won’t complain if they draft Neal.
-
Still a little worried we trade future picks to get more involved in this draft. Rhule and Tepper actually have a lot in common right now. Agree or disagree with it but neither are popular figures right now overall in the Carolinas. And they aren’t equipped to add much excitement to the mix given such few picks currently.
-
Can’t think of one I have been less interested in. part of that is we have only have 1 pick in the first 3 rounds. Which are the fewest we have ever had in the top 3 rounds. And despite having a top pick their is no player to get at 6 to bring any hype. And we are in the worst window in franchise history since Tepper took over.

Draft Strategy and approach (securing our LT)
CRA replied to Leeroy Jenkins Ph.D.'s topic in Carolina Panthers
no snark. just putting it out there that wanting to see how he looked at RT might be somewhat in the ballpark as Gross. Giants might have a decent LT and a starting the rookie at RT before taking over could be a smart big picture play. So like Gross he could be drafted to play RT for a year knowing they hope for him to be their LT answer in the long run. -

I also think in the world of super freak pass rushers that can move....LT and RT aren't as far apart as they use to be in terms of importance. LT still the most important though -

best LT in Panther history started his career at RT. Wonder who is playing LT presently in NY. Could just be a short term thing to have the best guys on the field for the season and moving him after that.
