and to get an average of 3….means a lot are gone sooner than 3.

sunk cost fallacy If Rhule doesn't have it, which he clearly doesn't look to have it at all.....there is no point wasting more time with him. Parting with a HC after two years isn't some crazy and ballsy move in the NFL. That is actually pretty normal in the NFL when a team gets stuck with someone that clearly isn't going to work.

Hard to call what Rhule is doing a real rebuild though. Rebuilding teams don't sign Teddy and then Darnold back to back to those contracts....and mortgage draft picks in the process of doing so.

Same overall point that firing Joe Brady achieved. It’s been a game of mitigating the boos at BOA for some time now. Tepper had a problem with it IMO. Last two home games the boo birds have had massive impact. Got to think Tepper has made it known that is a problem. One thing Rhule has in his favor is 3 of the 5 remaining are on the road. Atl game is huge. Think Cam can save Rhule. Then Rhule gets boo’d out loudly vs Tampa but won’t have to return to BOA after that one.

Probably need Gilmore on Patterson this time. Patterson is the Atl offense. It all goes through him. question will be can they cover Pitts if Gilmore takes out Patterson. Which he will.

That’s what Urban Meyers’ two fans in Jacksonville are claiming too. not sure which deserves to be fired first. Probably Urban. But both clearly aren’t NFL guys.
-
Finish 5-12. That would be 7 game losing streak to end the season. Boo’d at BOA loud to close it all out? Rhule doesn’t come back.
-
We should win this week and I expect us to. now, if we get embarrassed the last 4? Does he keep his job at 6-11? I don’t think he should.

He hired Joe Brady He fired Cam Newton A rebuilding team gave away 2022 draft picks for….Sam Darnold Matt Rhule has never beaten a single team of note in college or the pros

Football is weird. Being a good OC or DC isn’t what makes a lot of great HCs. Especially college. More about culture, management of people and situations. 3 of the last 5 college championships were won by a HC who never was a OC or DC a day in their lives.

Deviation from the Original Plan.. Is the Reason for this Mess..

Nobodies can come off the street and be inserted into good offenses. With good OLs. Or if you are playing against a bad opponent. CMC helps a QB deal with the fact we have a horrific OL. Which is key when you are facing a good defenses. Which 4 of the remaining 5 are. You can implement the Falcons game plan against the Falcons. That’s it of what’s remaining. Rest of the Ds are too good to pull that off with Hubbard and this OL -
How you feel about that? if Clemson had a legit passing QB I’d be down for that. But we gonna have to get creative on the ground for a minute.

Huddle is the huddle. Football talk hasn’t changed. More of America might be taking up message board football talk though and applying it elsewhere. People wanted to hang me for awhile for calling James Anderson a JAG. Swap out first names and present day it was Robby. Same stew cooking here. Same reactions. Good takes, bad takes. Huddle has always had someone to call anything you say idiotic.

I mean the Lions could call them themselves in mix week 1 for a Super Bowl. The math was there. Does that mean they actually were? we aren’t a post season team. not with the remaining schedule. Not with this OL. No CMC. And this coaching staff. and I am a Cam stan. But no, Cam doesn’t make sense for a new HC post Rhule that is going to rebuild the O. And as I said the day we drafted Cam and as I lobbied for Cam to be Cam…..he would never have the window a traditional pocket passer would have. And an 11 year vet isn’t who you rebuild with. -

We rented Gilmore and desperately brought Cam back in a couple weeks ago. That is a team thinking they are a playoff team. Not a rebuild. -
Not my logic. I didn’t believe Sam would succeed. Not just a poor OL excuses for Brady. Poor OL paired with a poor QB…..you give that to an inexperienced passing game OC and the results are predictable. And it played out that way. * and yes a great QB can still have success with weak OL play. See Cam. See Watson. See parts of Brady’s career. See a ton of players. But you need an actual good QB to pull offense off with a bad OL.
-
that’s not pulling the rug on Brady. He was offered a NFL OC job. Brady would do anything Rhule said. He isn’t going to bark crazy demands at Rhule for the job he frankly wasn’t qualified for. 32 of these in the world. being an NFL OC was important to him. He didn’t come here to coach Cam. I still think all signs point to Cam being a problem for Matt Rhule being able to come in here pretend to be a coach. He doesn’t know what he is doing. Cam would have been a problem. Especially pre screwed/humbled Cam.

well, he isn't. Because now he is tied to Matt Rhule. And Matt Rhule isn't going to be successful. So I would imagine the next HC will want to actually rebuild this O the correct way. Which means a young QB, not having the highest RB in the NFL, etc. -
We don't know that. IMO everything showed Matt Rhule simply wanted to move on from Cam. Several reasons. Think health was part of the reason. But not the primary one. Think Cam simply commanded too much attention for a young staff like Rhule's to come in and compete with. Cam just too big of a figure. Which despite being a Cam dude....I can kinda get it. It's kinda like how it was never going to be Cam's team until 89 was shown the door. Rhule wasn't going to come in here and make it whatever he wanted with #1 here. Once that decision was made.....then Teddy became the option.

the Sam argeument always ignored that NY didn't make Sam into the QB that played in NY. He was the same guy at USC. That was who they drafted. They got exactly that. And he has been conistently that the entire time he has played QB. College and pros. Joe Brady hasn't been consistently anything. Great year at LSU bringing his pass concepts to LSU. Pretty good debut as OC given it was his first time. Really bad year 2.

I agree and disagree. I think Teddy being a vet of the system Carolina was running was hurting egos of a young staff. I think it is a safe bet that Rhule wasn't running a legit NFL team. Not how it works across the league. I think Teddy was viewed as a problem because he was aware that what Rhule/Brady/ etc were doing wasn't how you get it done. That starts talk. So Teddy and Rhule became an impossible marriage. And Rhule got desperate after that and started making really bad moves. Offered too much for Stafford given what we were. We were suppose to be building from the ground up. Rejected. As that isn't what Stafford was leaving Detriot for. Then he wasn't guranteed a QB in the draft. Watson got in trouble. Then there was basically only Sam Darnold left as a guy to bring in. And their desperation caused them to be really dumb. Signed him. Then a QB fell. But taking a QB highlights how desperate and dumb the Darnold move was, on top of how Teddy just went, they just tied up tons of money in two bad QBs and gave away tons draft picks. So they picked up the 5th to show fake confidence in a poorly handled offseason in regards to the QB spot. Not wanting to draw even more attention to the QB debacle by drafting a QB after wasting all those draft resources and so much of the cap allocated to scrub QBs they just signed. -
We hung with everyone we played in year 1 minus the Super Bowl champions. Phil Snow and Matt Rhule picked Sam. Not Joe Brady.

Did you see what the Patriots did last night...

sounds like the best coach in the NFL took a rookie QB.....inserted him into a well built team that believes in running and playing defense. And when he does pass the football he is throwing to a diverse cast of veteran players. Mac Jones is the only rookie QB actually in a position to succed. Maybe Lance too but he isn't playing. There is a reason he is having a good season and Trevor Lawerence isn't. And it has little to do with Mac and Trevor. -
It can be. Take a simple reality called overpromotion. Management can easily take a good hard working employee.....and create a bad employee. For example, let's say you are a great salesman. A great salesman can be overpromoted and into a job he isn't actually good at. Now, whose fault is that?

I think Tepper is focused on putting buuts in BOA stadium for not one but now TWO professional sports teams. Does Rhule look to help with that? Or does Rhule help set the narrative that Tepper is a bumbling sports owner. There is a soccer crossever IMO. And yeah, Tepper needs people to believe in him too to maximze the money for both teams. I won't pay a dime to go see Matt Rhule/Sam Darnold next season. Nor will I pay to watch his soccer club. Owner has to show more than Tepper is.
