Worst part of the game yesterday was the end of the 1st half
CRA replied to electro's horse's topic in Carolina Panthers
the first completion in BOTH halves was an INT to the opponent. Hope to see the first completion next week in the half actually be to a Panther. Baby step this thing. -

John Fox and Ron Rivera were solid NFL coaches. I just can't get down with folks saying the Tepper era is comparable coach wise. -

he stat sheet looked good to open up a season. That was basically the transition and birth of checking down too much to CMC though IMO. Which birthed the 1k/1k season the next year. -

alternative argument. Cam Newton was really only Cam Newton because Ron Rivera drafted him....and created a world where a unicorn would thrive vs bust out. Majority of NFL head coaches weren't going to create the world that existed in Carolina for Cam. They would have stuck with their systems, not green lighted a college O and a world for Cam's personality to take over the game. Thomas Davis and Luke Kuechly both became GOATS under the LB/Def savy Ron too. He gets credit for nothing that occurred. All painted as things that fell into his lap. Ron was flawed. Ron doesn't get enough credit either. -

I'd argue in a QB league, QB being the most impactful spot, that a vet Teddy Bridgewater as your starting QB provides much more consistency for an offense than Kyle Allen. That's a pretty big difference. and like I said, I think Wilks at the end sort of confirms it all Ron gets way too much hate. A flawed coach that underachieved big picture but he is better than this slop we have been going through. Ron brought a certain level of competency and accountability IMO we haven't seen since. -
That’s moving goalpost a little. Bryce Young acknowledged he intentionally spent his offseason getting away from football. He hammered that point home. His morning routine involved working out. So does my wife’s. But even when he acknowledged he was only lazy with that for a week….he made sure to note again the football aspect wasn’t part of it. so the big picture theme is really clear. Bryce largely unplugged from football this offseason. Which isn’t what you want to hear and those are his words. Which is the Bryce offseason critique and it is purely based on his own version of events. and after that disaster picture was painted it came out he threw with some WRs once. That one event doesn’t reallly change the overall offseason narrative that Bryce himself put out there. Which is the critique. It just means technically there was a day he did something and no one cares about the technicality.

Canales just has to make it past that Dallas game in December and into the next week. Got to project out and think.....given how bad we will stink and what the fan mood will be. Stadium gonna be 80% Cowboy fans and LOUD for them. Tepper gonna really want to have a meeting after that one.

You cannot start Bryce Young again. He is not an NFL player.

yeah, XL didn't look too bad this weekend. Agree, that should of been 6. -
this is the exact moment....the black cloud hit and never left from that moment forward. All the rest of the bad in that game followed this play. All the bad in Cam's career. The downslide of the entire org pinpointed as starting here.

How surpised were you at how the team looked(Game 1 Edition)?

imagine what happens when they actually play a good team. which the Saints aren't -
Everyone should have seen the disaster around Bryce coming

I'd argue the last team to really get the value out of a 1st round RB was Dallas with Zeke. -
yeah, the later he gave more details isn't referring to anything in this article. It's a reference to another statement he made about his offseason. Same as I said in prior convos about this. And again, Panthers PR clearly did him no favors. Which I basically repeat every time this comes up. I mean, you literally got Bryce Young in his own words....over and over talking about he intentionally got away from football this offseason. Spending a lot of time alone. That's the big picture Bryce Young chose to paint and tell. Now did he workout in the morning? While also clarifying that he wasn't doing football related working out? Yes. He did exercise in the morning.....before going about his day not doing football stuff, hanging out alone and watching TV (his words). It's not what you want to hear from your young bad QB about his offseason. He painted this big picture. And with his added after the fact clarity of some activity....it doesn't really change the big picture. It basically just adds a technicality that he did do something once.

I mean, Matthews is still largely a WR playing TE. Lot of dirty work for a TE to be graded. Sanders for me came back down to Earth after watching the QB school of that opening series. The catch, and us being so thirty for anything, sort of overshadowed he wasn't actually really sharp out there vs the Bills.

yeah, to me, this isn't rah rah cheerleading coaching. The really good versions of that don't handle people with kids gloves at the end of the day. to me, Dabo (college level) and Pete (NFL level ) are the king cheerleader types. But they will unload on people and speak truths in the moment.
-
probably because they played a lot more downs.
-
I mean, dare away. I'll just quote Bryce. I have already done this convo a billions times. It was a horrific quote. But it largely is him painting his offseason picture. It was a horrible quote. Panthers did him no favors. Was it entirely accurate? No. Later he gave more details. But once you gather all the info.....the big picture paints the same way. You basically get to throw in a "see, he technically did something". You got a QB who didn't do much in terms of football and it was intentional this offseason. His words.

the LG, C, RG combo came to play. Bryce got everything his defender said he needed. Just isn't tall enough for it to matter. He can't play in an NFL pocket.

I mean, that's not what he said. The article is still up on Panthers.com. the week, is a reference to how long he slept in. He then began to workout in the mornings after that but was clear he was still staying away from actual football stuff and just working out. His actual offseason was described by him in great detail. I was kind of away from football for the most part, just living every other aspect of my life. Just hanging out, being around family, being around friends, getting back to a routine that doesn't revolve as much around football. For me, it was still being able to just enjoy and work out, but the Xs and Os actual football part, kind of stepping away from it. "Legit, it sounds boring, like I'm holding something out, but I'm not. But it's really like I watch YouTube, I watch TV, I watch Netflix, and every once in a while, I'll go someplace to maybe look at some clothes or something. There's nothing really cool that I'm just trying to hang onto. I'm definitely kind of a homebody. I'm an only child, so I'm used to being able to just chill on my own. That's how I decompress. So it's really just that."

Derrick Brown potential season ending knee injury

fantasy football reminder. Think ahead. Start picking up the Ds 2 weeks ahead. Snatching up the Raiders this week. -
I don't know. I could see that going either way. Rodgers has a great RB. A great #1 WR. A solid #2 WR. Paired with what should be a strong D. Even a washed Rodgers should look decent.

Disagree. I think Ron does better with Rhule's team. Ron Rivera is a MUCH better NFL coach than Rhule. Rhule wasn't even running real NFL practices for crying out loud. Ron would have had Joe Brady doing NFL basics with the team. Then the backend proof of Steve Wilks doing drastically better while being the most boring coach possible. Bryce sort of implodes everything. But even still, Ron Rivera wouldn't of been as mentally defeated as Frank was before the first kick. -

I was pretty much on record going in that Bryce was awful, he didn't fit with Canales and Canales didn't have this team ready given so much newness (and wasted the preseason opportunity). All that side, I was STILL a little surprised at exactly how pathetic the team was. I have to lower my 3-5 wins pending how the ball bounces to 1-3.
