  1. no doubt, same time we also lost Greg and TD with those 2 entering the Tepper era too. A LOT of big time leadership gone and never replaced. We just sort of say, well, DJ Moore is good so he is now a leader. But in reality, this team has lacked more than just good coaches to lead us. We haven't had the players to lead the team out of this. Just being talented doesn't make you the type leader a NFL lockeroom needs.
  2. we won with Jake because we had generational talent on both sides of the ball in addition to top of the position type studs. I mean, we can win with a Bryce Young that doesn't turn out to actually be great....but you then need a roster full of great players. We are a LONG way from that.
  3. 1. Wharton 2. Gamble 3. Buckner 4. Delhomme 5. Ginn Jr. - my most controversial, even if he dropped the ball, his role was centric to altering/impacting what a D could get away with vs those teams.
  4. you don't always need a generational QB. But you better go find some generational types at some position(s). End of the day our roster is just Derrick Brown at the moment. We got a lot of work to do before we can actually be competitive. Everyone else is potential and hope.
  5. sometimes you got to find ways to win with a Jake, Steve or Kerry.
  6. I mean, the Tepper era has only been bad if you compare us to every other NFL team that exists. As well as every other professional sports team in America.
  7. Yes, but Bryce Young is what amplifies that concern for me for a super green HC and OC. it’s all and marriages by Tepper IMO. Canales and the new OC probably would have a better time getting their O running with a vet QB that is a natural fit. again, I’m not arguing Canales and Morgan should be catering to Bryce at this point. Just pointing out how pointless drafting Bryce looks at this stage. And I don’t disagree you either can play or can’t and the O is irrelevant at this level. I mean fit matters at this level. Everyone is too talented. Fit makes or breaks careers.
  8. I have also said I think a young Jake Delhomme would be a good pairing for Canales and what he wants to do. QB has a lot to do with how I think Canales will do. I don’t think he is in a place where he needs a QB that doesn’t fit what he does. That’s more problems for a guy who doesn’t need them. I have said I got no issue with Canales Got none with Bryce if we were to build a Bryce O around him starting last year with a scheme that fit him I don’t like the marriage of of Canales O and Bryce. Too similar to last year where the QB and O don’t fit in my eyes. And Canales and the OC are both super green. They just need to be able to focus on their basics IMO. Bryce doesn’t allow that
  9. yeah, it's like the PJ Walker thing the last couple years BUT actually being largely serious. There was some legit belief Matt Moore might be Jake Vol 2.
  10. go find a random 10-14 year old Panther fan and ask them who the best player is on the Panthers. that answer will sum up why there is no excitement in Pantherland.
  11. That's not the phrasing I would use. I don't think he has the QB to run the O he will run. And you just have to look back 1 season to see how that goes. made a competent vet HC look like he had had never been around football before.
  12. 89 was still in his prime entering that season. That's what makes the Fox and Ron era hard. Because even when you didn't think we could win, you thought you could be entertained. Superstar factor.
  13. you know what, now that I think about it.....I can't use to 2010 as my #2 season behind 2022. Matt Moore was 6-2 going in and slated to start off the season. So yeah, I believed he could get the ball to 89 and it would at least be an entertaining .500ish season. The feeling change the day Fox went to Clausen so that was more in season for me. So 2024 is now my #2 behind 2022
  14. I think as offenses have gotten quicker and the college schemes have arrived, attacking the Gs and interior has become a bigger priority. Prioritizing disrupting the QB before he gets the quick pass off.
  15. true. But I personally view RT is the easiest spot on the line in terms of pass protection. I think terms of how teams want to attack an OL. RT is last place they prioritize. Pressure up the middle and the QBs blindside IMO is where they look to go. That's just a CRA gut take of how I view things.... and have no clue if the stats would actually back that up.
  16. Charlotte FC is more entertainig than the Panthers
  17. I think when on the field, Otah was the most dominant RT we have seen in a Panther uniform. I mean, people were much harsher here on Otah than they are Horn.
  18. I don't think competent coaches are THAT hard to find. I think if your team is really bad, it's primarily a roster talent issue. And in the NFL, you can't scheme and coach yourself out of the fact you don't have the talent. Lot of "failed" HC would have been successful with great rosters.
  19. in terms of just the Tepper era, the only season I was less excited about going into was 2022. Going back further gets tricky, Ron always had Cam. So probably would go to the Fox's dead man walking 2010 Clausen year. Fox and Ron generally had superstars that you could do fandom mental gymnastics with. Cam, Luke, 89, the Fox's defensive crew, etc. We just don't have the talent to pull of the mental gymnastics the same.
  20. Tough to ignore Turner's 5 straight bowl seasons though. 2 of those 5 featured Paradis and Larsen at C. And multiple seasons with Daryl Wiliams at RT beside him. More I think about it, in my ranking I'd probably make Moton a push with Turner. Drop my boy Wharton down to 5. Kalil, Gross, Turner/Moton, Wharton.
  21. I ding the folks in the roid bust a little bit in my rankings.
  22. 1. Kalil 2. Gross 3. Turner 4. Wharton Personally, Wharton is my most underrated OL of all time here.
  23. I mean, Richardson's first HC was decent. Ron and Fox were basically the same thing. Not sure how 1 can be good and one trash.
  24. Panthers players through NFLPA do a report card. The complaint in Carolina is the food and cafeteria. Plenty of opposing players gave their teams training rooms and weight rooms Ds and Fs. Carolina players went Bs. So it doesn’t really jive with Theilen’s view that the Panthers got it the worst.
  25. I feel safe to assume Theilen can get in an ice tub if he needs one. again, it’s 2024 and the NFL. The new state of art facilities are about luxury and having the latest and greatest. Which is all cool. I’d rather have than not have. But let’s not pretend like the Panthers players are being mistreated.
