I like the middle right before the bye. Early looks rough to me for a team working in a new offense.

They giving Bryce the Matt Rhule treatment (going into year 3)…..where they tried to highlight everyone but the HC. It just stands out and has the reverse effect.

5.5? I mean, you take the under there. I don’t see how the over/under gets set that high. Right now they probably are dogs in all games but maybe 2. Maybe.

“30 seasons”…..somehow the last half decade under Tepper couldn’t even get a clip in lol. Should have named the video the Richardson Panthers. all Panther PR just rubs me the wrong way under Tepper. Bless the folks who have to make lemonade out of tomatoes.

Think that’s a possibility again, really looking at the Raiders road game there to steal one but I think you would rather have that one later. I expect a slow start for a new staff this year.

Weeks 7-10. That’s seems to be the window the Panthers got to find a win or two. Outside of that, I think I’d favor the opponent based on how the rest looks in terms of home vs away

maybe, a charity auction would be cool. They couldn’t even get the starting QB in it though….it featured Dalton as a week but that’s got to be a bottom tier release video. They used to kill it. I’m just comparing them to what they were.

I mean, the old Panthers team seemed to of put a lot more effort and creativity into their big schedule release video….

my thing is, we have seen lots of good QBs play behind really bad OLs at times. And yes, bad OLs impact everything. But those good QBs, still have lots of moments showing how good they are behind bad OLs. And frankly, a bad OL has never made any of them what we were last year. Heck, many of them go to the playoffs with bad OL play. That's my Bryce issue. He didn't have really any moments that a #1 overall pick should of had. Bad OL play included. But I concede, Bryce was setup to fail. And fail he did. But if he was special, I still think that still has it's moments no matter what.

It’s a moot point in terms of who our starter is going into 2024. 100%. Outside of that? Think it’s a pretty wide open discussion at this point. Probably an important one given QB is the most important puzzle piece and all that really matters going forward.

I mean, in fairness, Bryce isn’t just a shorter QB. I mean, since the 1930s….the only QB Bryce Young was bigger than was Doug Floutie. That’s 1 QB in league history since the 30s. And that might be debatable. I think Bryce’s official weight was bologna.

Agree. But going into last year I and some others called that out….the Panthers weren’t adding the players, coaching, scheme, etc Bryce needed. just feels like a repeat.

CMC is a nice reference IMO, because it’s another player where size is in the convo…. CMC showed up jacked and noticeably bigger going into year 2….after he realized he had to change things up at this level.

Brees' arm got noticeable weaker and he was still top tier. But he basically had a HOF career brain in that head by that point. People sometimes forget, young Brees was a downfield gambler. He wasn't always the small ball guy.

I think the big issue is everyone has different meanings of "great arm". Brett Favre had a great arm. Brett Favre's arm did things Tom Brady could not do with his arm not matter how much he would want to do it. That's just raw arm talent. Cam Newton had crazy arm talent. Means he could be flat footed and launch a ball without his body.....and get it to a distance and at a trajectory Brady couldn't in the same setup. Just raw arm talent. Doesn't mean Tom Brady couldn't drop dimes all over a D and carve them up in a way Favre couldn't......despite Favre or Cam (early) having a better raw arm. So again, you don't need a great NFL arm. But you need all the other tools to be there. Old QBs often end up there. Some start there. Some can be elite and even reach GOAT status without great arms. Because they got the brains, pocket play, ball placement, etc. coming out their ears. In the end, Bryce Young looks to be your standard Bama QB. Largely a product of playing on the best roster in all of NFL football with a GOAT coach on top of that.

Burrow doesn't have a good NFL arm. Frankly, neither does Tom Brady. So a great arm isn't a requirement. But if you don't have a great arm, you need to have a lot of other things in spades. Burrow beat Clemson simply because he was smart and figured out the weakness in a D....and then aggressively attacked it. People forget Clemson had his number early in that game. But once Burrow figured out what Clemson couldn't stop...it was ballgame.

I think Howell and Bryce both had a lot to do with their sack numbers. Were their OLs great? Nope. But lots of offenses operate behind meh OL play in the NFL.

Bama also had really weak QB play last year. UnBama like. It's like throwing gas on a fire. Bad QBs make OLs way worse.

has he proven his durability? Now I think they are liars but let's go with the company line. Young couldn't even suit up after his first career start. He is 22. He almost started 1 full season. I think durability is tested over a couple seasons.

maybe the plan was bad....because David Tepper moved up to draft a QB David Tepper wanted....and told his new HC he was going to have to play his new QB day 1. I think so much of the #1 overall pick was PR/marketing for David Tepper. Try to change the tide. Add some excitement. I think Frank was given a plan that Frank didn't design or view as he would have come up with. I don't think Bryce fit Frank's brand of football. And that was that. Frank wasn't going to reinvent the wheel for Bryce because that isn't Frank. It's not most NFL coaches. They got to where they are doing what they do.

bad/weak QB play always drags down OL play. OL is going to struggle if all Bryce can threaten is 10 yards of the field. Because defenses will be play the entire game that way. OL was bad last year. Bryce just helped highlight it even more. Generally good QBs help mask it.

well, I don't think you can add legit comp. Not last year or this year. I mean, Bryce is going to lose that comp in offenses not geared to his skill set. I think you just let him flame out. The Panthers drafted a unicorn and then didn't want to build a unique O for him. So be it. Move on after this year.
