For those thinking Renfrow isn't making the team...Ha!
CRA replied to TD alt's topic in Carolina Panthers
it's not a "wish"....it's just acknowledging our total situation. And once you do that, you can see the path way. starts with QB and his style of play. Bryce just flat out isn't a natural deep passer. The vertical deep ball isn't his thing and even his throws on outs and comebacks on the sideline leave you feeling uneasy. So where does Bryce natural like to go? Middle of the field. Which is why an actual old dude has dominated touches since Bryce Young has been behind center. AT is a half decade older than Renfrow. Then you acknowledge what a healthy Hunter Renfrow is....a WR who lives in the part of the field BY naturally likes. A WR who factually just runs better routes than ANYONE on the team in that area of the field.....and can get open better than anyone else in that section of the field for what would be relatively easy throws vs what raw rookies or sophomores will be running on the outside. So top 3 in receptions (not yards)? That's not a far fetched idea given what we are. I wouldn't predict Hunter could pull that off if we inserted Jake Delhomme in the lineup. And I don't equate the prediction to somehow meaning we aren't throwing to XL or Tmac. But in this scheme, they both setup more lean toward being chunk ball WRs IMO. *Hubbard was 3rd in receptions last year....and that was 6 less than the guy who was #1. So yeah, Renfrow could do it if healthy. Hubbard 3rd the year before as well with Mingo at #2. Right now our roster is slam full of dudes so young we don't even know if a QB can depend on them to be where they are supposed to be every snap. -
I like some good ole scuffling in practice. I do question the intelligence of dudes that throw hands though on a football field. here is an example of 2 players showing good football IQ. don't swing at nobody until you pry the helmet off. Throwing hands is a good way to miss the season pending you are an offensive skill player that needs their hands.

only lock I think in time is Luke. 89 and Cam are bringing more things to do the table than just ball and it gets really weird with them IMO. As in, a lot of voters just aren't going to like them....and there will be tons of easy options for them to pick over them when it's close decision for a voter.

Hunter Renfrow getting punt return work per Canales

I got Luke in before 89 or Cam I still think Luke is technically our best player. He just played ILB which isn't a premium spot.

I think they are Carolina Legends that will be properly celebrated in our Ring of Honor one day. I'd put TD over Olsen in pecking order but it's close. But they aren't making the HOF. The ACLs ruined TDs chances and Olsen will be swallowed up by TEs with better stats and rings.

Vintage Hutner in action on this route cooking this dude up https://x.com/kassidyghill/status/1949177044434366949?s=46&t=f55N0zsNFevD-XGJBWj1-A if healthy, he is not going to be #6 in reality -
I'm thinking about walking on. Been bulking up the last couple years for this moment. Got some good midsection girth going on. I'm good for one tackle.

Think he is on an extended vacation if memory serves. Or at least his old user name is.

yeah, the comp was a little bit of an interesting one. I mean, you can love someone's energy and speed. Horn could also run horrible routes and need a year to the side the get at the NFL level. He also coming out of that really quirky Colorado O that was overly pass heavy O that was super spread out. Horn going to have to get used to blocking, hands on him, and all sorts of stuff. He was a 6th rounder for a reason.

Horn had 14 punt returns in 4 years. I think way too many people are crediting him for having this ST upper hand that doesn’t really exist 89 had 72 in just 2 years at Utah. NFL punt returners are a different breed. Gets hard to predict who can handle it. Didn’t DJ Moore buckle under the pressure with his attempts? I do like Horn’s potential though. He is the most unique WR on the roster vs the rest of the group. But 6th round WRs are generally that for a reason -
Pretty sure every seat in the house is a standard 5 bucks. Upper deck and front row all the same. People buy all the lower bowl seats to sell them like they are semi real tickets and try to flip the better seats

Panthers really need to reevaluate the fan fest setup. All they really accomplished was setup for scalpers to get an extra freebie to fug fans over.

well, first there are lots of things wrong and that generally go wrong in Carolina. Which is why it's not hard to see a path where that plays out. Rookie year - top 3 Soph year - top 3 3rd year - top 3 4th year - only suited up 10 and then the health stuff started up. So yeah, a healthy Hunter....gets open and gets open quick for easy throws. Receptions. BY isn't a deep ball shot taker. That's not his game. It's an easy call that fans will be either mad at Tmac or XL (maybe both). Bryce doesn't have the balls to satisfy the fan wish of 2 outside guys. I mean, Adam Theilen is basically walking proof as well of why it can easily happen. -

That's generally the area a healthy Renfrow operated under. First 3 seasons in the league. And again, if healthy, he will get open better and easier than basically everyone on the roster (that's being polite)....for what will be safer throws than some jump ball downfield to XL. I don't think the yardage would not be crazy but yeah, I totally could see a scenario where he racks up a lot of catches given what he is and does. Safe open throws to move chains. That's Renfrow. -

It's not hard to imagine scenario where Hunter is in top 3 in receptions on this team in 2025. He gets open better than practically everyone, and runs safer/easier routes for BY. -

if and it's a huge if....Renfrow can get close to what he was....he won't be our #6. Because Renfrow can get open for much higher percentage pass options for BY than basically anyone else on the roster. -
I hadn't heard the Hubbard stuff. Hope that's not the case. I was trying to show you some optimism lol

I mean, I have said it before. I actually like Dave. I think he brings a lot of the stuff you want in a HC. I don't like him paired with Morgan because I think Morgan could get an axe quick. Think Tepper likes to set things up to have folks to be fired and take blame. Then the next GM is going to be looking out for himself more than Dave. and I think Dave now is sort of stuck w/ Bryce after the unimaginable Bryce rally. I think the plan was basically that we would move on from Bryce pending something insane didn't happen. They did. Then the insane still happened.
-
well, I'm not in meetings. Nor employed to make decisions. but the narrative of trust the professionals.....has not been the best defense of actions in Carolina land for some time. The biggest issue I think is time and Tepper. Can a grouping stay in power long enough to actually build a cohesive vision.
-
I mean, Dan went out and spent more than every team in the NFL on our OL. Not sure that signature move is a sign of good roster building/management. Any GM can largely problem solve an area by going that route. And the OL is really the only position where we have actual answers. I don't equate what we have done w/ the DL being on par w/ the OL. I also don't think it's total fair to completely wipe Dan Morgan's existence from the vision and plans where he was asst GM. I'm still largely of the belief.....Fitterer just took the fall for what largely was a brainstrust that hasn't changed that much.
-
5, 7, 2, 5 that's been the Panthers with Morgan as Asst GM and GM. I think in Tepperland, Morgan is actually setup for things to go south for him real quick and everyone here turns on him. Just takes basically, one more season like the rest. Think Morgan's seat has potential to get drastically hot with a quickness around these parts. and really the 7 win season, was Wilks and the team fugging up the front offices plan/design the second half of that year.
-
yeah, the big money totally killed the whole cord cutter streaming move. You like football or basically anything? Well, you just need to purchase 87 subscriptions to watch the season/games/story play out. only good setup right now is the not so very popular MLS. MLS pass on Apple airs every team, every game. Even unpopluar stuff like trying to watch Caitlin Clark or something requires jumping from app to app to app.

maybe renting a Bobby Wagner might of made more sense than thanking Adam Theilen though back in March if they knew this.

I don't want a random developmental QB as a backup. I want someone young who people thought would be a franchise type QB and failed at first, looking for a second shot at redeeming himself in most scenarios. Pending not a rookie or I got Mahomes or something. Bryce is a year 3 QB and sort of in no man's land. Think he deserves real comp sitting on his heals. A guy that believes he could take the job if the opportunity ever arose and be the guy. I mean, just hypothetically play out if Bryce Young were to return to being the dude he largely has been.....then we just insert Dalton. It's a complete wasted season, We have to essentially rebuild the entire room. Who knows, maybe you catch some magic. Have a Geno Smith situation. Or a Jake Delhomme situation.
