well, since I looked it up (this is dated 2023 so it lacks the tush push/Hurts update). Tom Brady, Drew Brees and Cam Newton are the best QB sneakers of the past 20 years. https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/evolution-of-the-qb-sneak-how-we-got-here-and-what-history-tells-us-about-the-tush-pushs-future-in-the-nfl/ While known more for his prolific passing, Drew Brees was also highly successful when it came to QB sneaks. A former Super Bowl MVP, Brees has the third-highest conversion percentage and the third-most third/fourth-and-1 conversions by a quarterback since 2000 despite retiring after the 2020 season. His 73 conversions in those situations trails only Brady and Cam Newton (108) and is ahead of Josh Allen (64), Hurts (56) and fellow former Super Bowl MVP Joe Flacco (56).

Kyler Murray is built like a little tiny tank. Brees was sort of like Tom Brady. He went about it different, but the Brees QB sneak was sort of a signature move. Really high conversion rate.

and I think you are blind to the one FACTOR they all have in common minus Bryce....they all have MUCH better physical tools to play NFL QB. Bryce is a unicorn. And not the Cam end of the unicorn spectrum. The bad/weak side.

lol. 3rd quarter - The Cardinals were up 24 points and Carolina got to touch the ball once. Here is what the Cards set up for them in the 3rd quarter to eat clock. run TE checkdown TE checkdown run run RB check down TE checkdown run TE checkdown incomplete TE checkdown run now they finally arrive end at the 4 yard line and finally hits a WR , and he hits Renfrow in the endzone. THAT is not asserting your will. That's not NFL QB play. That is the Cardinals allowing a bad team to bleed the clock and take up the entire quarter.

I'm just saying if you made a list of all the dominant Bama, OSU, UGA college QBs out there competing for nattys and blowing folks up.......how many have ever really hit a the next level (regardless of draft status). It just seems like that's not where you find a QB. That's where you find the players for around your QB. Then you look at who the actual dominant NFL QBs are. You got a Texas Tech. A North Dakota. A Louisville. I mean you got a Burrow that would run counter to my train of thought but yeah, it gets really tough to judge these dudes that were playing on basically college all star rosters.
-
Nick Saban QBs have pretty consistently just been good college QBs (with absurd production) in incredible scenarios. I think there is something to almost every Bama and Ohio St not panning out that well at the next level. Lot of the most dominant NFL QBs were doing way more of the work in college than those dudes. Really includes UGA too. There is basically Stafford. NIL is going to change all that going forward as those 3 won't basically have the superior roster every single year

I think the JAG debates are largely people having vastly different definitions of JAG. The OG JAG LB debate was James Anderson. And James Anderson is probably going to be ahead of Shaq on my alltime LB list (it's really close though).

every player mentioned in your post is a better QB than Bryce. That's why it's not Bryce hate. if you were to make of a list of Darnold, Baker, Mac, D. Jones, old Rodgers, Trevor, Caleb and Bryce. Bryce is last. And that's not tooting anyone's horn you named.

89 was 100% a bad person and teammate in Carolina. It’s not me saying it. And sure, everything factors. 89 wasn’t just involved in some football scuffles. He assaulted people. Multiple people. And reporters from that era have always hinted on other incidents that remained hidden. and he can’t keep what a jerk human he is hidden in his post playing career. Whether that his personal life spilling over into TMZ or him clowning his colleagues for clicks. if you want to put 89 ahead of Cam, Peppers and Luke? Do you. Cam was the most impactful. Peppers had the best career. Luke the best actual football player. 89 ain’t jumping them for me -
Shaq was the new James Anderson. whatever folks want to call that.

in fact the only real logical plan (even if you didn't love it)......was the start of the Rhule era. You bring in Teddy B for 2 years paired w/ Joe Brady to get a functional base up and running. You draft a QB at some point to bring up and insert into that foundation. But Teddy hurt feelings and IMO ever since then, Carolina has lacked any sort of reasonable vision plan on offense. Then we went right into reject win now football. Then we said, nope, lets draft a unicorn kid and pair him with coaches whose scheme he doesn't fit....and let's do it all day 1.

that makes us way too light (literally). I'm not certain Jimmy Horn could run block on the outside if Bryce Young was there up against him. I'm not anti Horn coming in. I think think Renfrow probably running too much volume. He is too quirkly to be running that high of a % in this scheme IMO. So give Horn some pass down only work and spell Renfrow a little. I think you need a bigger body on the outside. Tremayne makes the most sense to me.

89's style was super fun to watch play the game of football. I do not actually like 89. I still think he gets way too much love to this day. He is actually the type human you should root against. I get the, well, but he is our bad guy mindset.....but to me he didn't even fit that given he was such a horrible teammate and person in Carolina. Cam, Luke and Pep are the top of my list of Panthers. They all share something 89 doesn't have. Great players AND find a teammate/coach that has said some foul poo about them...it doesn't exist. Pulling for the good guys is the way it should be. Cam to me was the textbook loveable villain. Everyone in house loved him. It was the opponents that hated him. -
been saying this forever. Panthers specialize in the cramming together random parts and then act confused when it doesn't work.

I mean, you give the city something worth cheering for and they show up pretty well. Carolina Panthers are about to log their 8th straight losing season....and you got Panther mouthpieces acting like the fans are the issue. the best freaking sports team in Charlotte is a soccer team that was birthed 4 years ago lol -

XL's jaw would already be wired shut from when 89 broke it. 89 would have HATED XL. HATED. He checks all the boxes of what 89 hated. First round pick. Commercials. Money. No play. -

89 has turned into a clown. Hit folks with the if you didn't play above HS level ball you really shouldn't talk about NFL players sucking lol. yeah, Steve,we will. I bet if your insurance agent sucks butt at his job....you are going to comment on it without having your insurance license. I don't need to of played in the NFL to know XL isn't even meeting HS level expectations....walking back to the line in a hurry up. I have known my share of NFL folks over the years. They aren't all super humans w/ advanced football IQ brains. Some are just insane athletes. It's why the NFL career is so short. and don't get me started on the good ole boys club of coaching. Just like everywhere else, lots of bad folks are working in the NFL because of who they know....just like literally every other profession on the globe.- 90 replies

So, just what is it that makes a QB "elite"?
CRA replied to Brooklyn 3.0's topic in Carolina Panthers
elite is Peyton Manning walking into Denver in 2013. That's elite. Thomas (best season was 500 yards), Eric Decker, Brandon Stokely and no name TEs all paired up w/ a meh backfield. With John Fox overseeing the O. THAT is a very bad offensive situation. But that was also a top 5 O with a QB leading the NFL in comp % and top 3 in TDs. elite QBs fix the bad. Now Peyton was a comical example of it. But if Peyton can do that.....a good QB could muster average offense in Carolina last year and this year. -
Frank to me was an offensive variant of Fox and Rivera. Frank being as bad as he was, wasn't because of Frank. It was a front office who didn't give him the basic blocks he needed to be the boring middle of the pack coach he was. when Frank's folks started going on TV and lobbying for what a Frank QB was going into the draft......that was the first warning flag. One day, years from now, like with all dysfunctional teams we will find out who actually stood on what side of the Bryce decisions before the company line of we "all agreed on Bryce" came out.
-
I think if the Panthers signed Baker and just let Baker be our QB....things would have worked out better than than it did. We signed Baker, then didn't let him be our QB. He "competed" all preseason w/ Sam. He never got the work he needed going in. It was never his team.
-
PJ Walker could walk in that door tomorrow and we would be a more threatening team w/ a higher ceiling. I mean, we would still be a bad team but we would have a puncher's chance vs a lot of teams now w/ a dude like Tmac. How we handled the QB room has been malpractice for basically the entire Tepper era of various different flavors.

RG3 at least gave Washington a season of hope and joy. As a rookie he posted a winning season, OROY and the postseason. So they got at least a year of something really nice. Then the pain came.
-
Brock Purdy erases the gigantic Trey Lance in a way it probably shouldn't. Talk about a horseshoe up that front office's backside. 3 first round picks and a 3rd I think is what Trey Lance cost. but credit them as well for not getting bogged down in their mistake and sticking with it.
-
Down 24 in the second half and opposing team letting your check down for 14 play drives……is garbage time. It’s free yards in exchange for clock. now the garbage time strategy did allow the Panthers to get back in the game coupled with Cardinals offensive errors and miracle Panthers onside kick…..and then it wasn’t garbage time. And then Bryce literally didn’t gain a yard.
