  1. the worst officiated game I can recall outside the 2015 Super Bowl. We straight up looked to be the better team vs 49ers in the first half yet trailed by 3. You knew the game was over at that point.
  2. Vrabel is the best coach candidate IMO and the Chargers is the best gig. I'd hire him today if I were them. Patriots is a tough spot. Following a legend is never a fun spot. And the roster sucks.
  3. Icing on the cake is 2010 and 2001 were the end of eras/regimes. Being bad made sense. You could stomach that. 2023 was supposed to be the start of something good. You weren't supposed to be that bad. Designed to be a window of hope not the end of something.
  4. 2023 is the worst. Worst talent. then 2010 then 2001 I'd put money on both of those teams beating the 2023 squad. 2001 was the most competitive despite the record. 2010 was the best actual roster of the 3. Way more than this squad. Fox was a dead man walking and didn't give a rip. I think he enjoyed having Clausen implode it all. You can't tell me with that OL and RBs.....they couldn't of lined up ran at the 2023 and beat them fairly easily if the coach wanted to. Hubbard would have been battling Mike Goodson for 3rd on the depth chart on that squad and it probably would have been a battle. Depth on that OL would have started for the 2023 squad too.
  5. it's actually crazy. Most teams these days have a pretty easy time fixing the WR spot when they want to. And they transition fast in today's with the rules catering to the pass game. I definitely don't think you can give QBs and WRs the same timetable they had back in the day. It doesn't take 3 years to show your stuff. If you can't show you are special early given the NFL has basically fixed the league for their success....it likely ain't happening.
  6. you don't think Zach Wilson (who still went #2 overall) would have had an even better college resume playing at Bama vs BYU?
  7. I mean, if Bryce Young played at BYU.....Bryce likely isn't the #1 overall pick. Bryce had the best roster in college football to aid him.
  8. and we potentially tie up a big portion of our cap on a dude that doesn't want to be here and becomes problematic. Ending up with a guy not worth big cap hit of the tag....that ties the hands of a team with no talent from adding needed talent. for me, it thought Burns has been positioning himself for two things. To rip off us and stay here for absurd money.....or force his out of a losing franchise if we wouldn't be dumb.
  9. Vrabel is a better candidate than Belicheck at this point.
  10. You often don’t have a choice once you let it get to a certain place. Lots of dudes walk. You probably see that more than tag and trades
  11. Well, I didn’t see those. He won’t be traded this offseason. Well, never say never with Tepper but it’s got to be incredibly low odds. But I think just given the bad spot Bryce finds himself in he might not finish out his rookie contract here. New coach alone makes that a possibility and the fact Bryce isn’t going to be a good universal for what everyone might want to do on O.
  12. He isn’t safe, as in he isn’t guaranteed to have the starting job all season just because he was the #1 overall pick.
  13. Then what issue do you really have here. No one is arguing Bryce is getting cut or won’t be the defacto 1 heading into next year…..but if you concede the possibility he can be benched next year then you should also be able to get why the next HC will need to add talent to his QB room for someone who can take over and not be pointless.
  14. College GOATs shouldn’t be diminshed for it not working out as well in the NFL. And NFL success shouldn’t let people rewrite what college players were. People taking issue with the praise the Michgan QB was getting acting like it was disrespecting Tom Brady lol.
  15. Well, you declared it was a fact QBs get 2 years to prove themselves 25% of the top 10 QBs in the half decade prior to Bryce didn’t get 2 full years to prove themselves before they were taken off the field and I invested no energy. It was just top 10 over 5 years, We really could look at all first rounders. Top of my head, an example is 2022 first rounder was Pickett was just benched. the table is set for a new HC to bench him next year in season if doesn’t improve. Like Wilson was but higher odds given this coach wouldn’t have drafted him.
  16. Well, it’s not a fact. Last 5 years. And there isn’t really a difference between #1 overall and all the top picks. 2022 #2 overall Wilson - benched year 2 #3 overall - 4 total starts and isn’t with the team. 49ers gave up even more assets than we did for Bryce 2018 #10 overall - traded after 1 year
  17. So one guy had him as the 4th best prospect since 2017…. Last QB that dude drafted was Kellen Mond in the 3rd….who didn’t make it past 1 year on the roster. His biggest QB draft pick ever was weak armed check down king Teddy Bridgewater
  18. Totally deserved. He brought us one of the greatest college football games of all time and was incredible at App St.
  19. Burns is walking and we getting nothing. Been saying it since he came into the year without a deal
  20. we could of trotted out Cam Newton with a shot arm, pulled Greg Olsen from the booth on a bum foot and had Joe Brady calling plays.......and won more games than the 2024 team pulled off. I mean, it's amazing how we keep getting worse and worse at so many different aspects.
  21. Cam Newton worked w/ Weinke at IMG leading into his 2011 rookie season
  22. they also had him in camp/practice. Lance wasn't good enough to be on the field. He wasn't where/what Shanahan needed for his O to tick.....he wasn't there. I mean, he can be way more talented than Purdy and Purdy make the Shannahan engine go more efficiently. Which is what we saw. And all that matters to the coach/team. I mean, I got the 49ers in the Super Bowl at this point. Don't you? I'm not certain Lance is a bust. He could still develop into something. Everyone isn't day 1 ready. That's okay. He sure never appeared that way. But that's the expectation of the pick from everyone around football (fans/media/etc) and there was going to a lot of noise. Trade location stunk for Lance though. He needs injury in Dallas for a shot. I don't think they traded Lance because they thought Sam was more talented lol. I think they were looking to quiet the noise and nonsense everyone would have to do deal with in SF if Lance stayed. It's a distraction that doesn't really go away given what they gave up for him and what he was SUPPOSED to be. They just took it on the chin and moved on.
  23. give me Vrabel. That's who I want. I largely trend young OC as my ideal pick. But we are so bad, give me proven, good and stable. I prefer someone who can right this sinking ship. All the OC picks come with a lot more risk than Vrabel.
