tbf to Coker, he has 90 on just 263 yards receiving. He just hasn't been able to get on the field much. Sanders, too, has 50% of his yards on YAC. So we have those guys - they just were injured the last 2 weeks (very clear they are bringing Sanders along slowly given his play time this last game). Thielen will never be huge YAC for us because of his age. Legette, well, I don't know. I just want him to catch some fuging passes.

The last game the announcers pointed out how bad our center was on the screen play. I don't necessarily think it is that he's calling them when everyone knows its coming. We just don't have the practice to sell them as anything but screens yet, I think.
-
The one time I remember was on an early scramble drill. He seemed to cut his route off when he peaked and saw Bryce scrambling. I think if he keeps running down field he's got a TD or a massive gain.
-
So I didn't pay a ton of attention during the week, but I saw Coker had practiced Wednesday. Did he reinjure himself later in the week? Looking forward to his return... He had been really good there for a few weeks.
-
He's got things to work on for sure. I think yesterday he was off on a lot of throws he's been making, tho he made up for it in other ways. He also has trouble with a lot of routes beyond 20 yards, but I think that'll come with more reps with WRs

This is one of the biggest and more exciting differences for sure. He seems so elusive now and he sees blitzes as a chance to punish other teams. It's like.... If they don't get him, we're about to get a 20 yard gain, lol. He used to panic when people got near him and now he just maneuvers and finds the open player... It's pretty impressive, and a big reason I'm not worried about him being 'figured out.' That play out of the endzone yesterday was just amazing

Hurts is almost a cautionary story about buying in too much to a player, though.
-
Good lord is it ever. People posting his stats alone from last game... Or people claiming he's playing at a "top 20" or jag level. I get being cautious and saying we need more games and I also don't begrudge wanting to make sure we have Canales picking the rest of the QB room next year. I think those are smart places to be. But the way Bryce is playing - look, the Eagles had multiple weeks of New Bryce to look at. They definitely did some things differently and ultimately Bryce still put us in a position to win the game. Week by week, I'm getting less worried that he's going to get "figured out" like Allen, Bridgewater, etc. He attacks every level of the field.

It is a pretty routine reception. Thielen's had a couple circus catches this year. But that pass to XL shoulda been caught and not in the "if he gets his hands on it he should catch it" way
-
16 points wasn't enough to win, but the gameplan was a winning formula and it was executed well by Bryce. He had a really dumb interception and a couple bad passes, but was also let down by his guys. When you have multiple 6+ minute drives, it's gonna lead to lower scores... Honestly, the team has really played much better the last few weeks, Bryce included. I'm hoping at some point these start becoming real wins instead of just moral victories...

I have some concerns in overall talent level too, but I'd say that has not at all been the reason for our last 3 losses, and I think that in general he has shown significant improvement, so who knows. And I think he's got a lot more overall talent than Teddy - in terms of play extending ability etc. One thing for sure tho, he is way more willing to go deep than Two Gloves was (at least here).

Defenses have adjusted to the 2010-2020 passing explosiveness. I think we'll see some rebounding there but overall, run games are also back. It's why I don't really care if Bryce has "only" 191 yards. I'm not crowning him, either - I just think it's ridiculous to say he's "serviceable" when he's kept us in games, putting us in a place to win, against three very good opponents the last three weeks. I do hope Canales get a chance to pick the other QBs for the room. I'm less interested in a competition at this point exactly, versus having Canales really get a shot to choose the other QBs going into camp.
-
He got spooked by turnovers and never felt comfortable throwing past 5 yards again.
-
It is true but Kyle Allen never really had a deep ball game here. Yes, he'd connect on the occasional bomb but almost everything was right at the LoS. I posted a few of his passing charts here last week. Bryce is threatening at every level. But his very deep balls generally blow, or are dropped lol

This isn't 2012... Passing offenses just aren't putting up many yards. Cam in 2012, based on y/g, is one of the top 5-10 passing offenses. Cam in 2012 was 16th it so... Compared to other players this year, Bryce IS playing well these last few games.

I'm not giving up on XL yet, but it's disappointing. I read somewhere he may have an injured wrist. Hubbard has played hard all year. The fumble was bad, I'm not giving him a pass exactly but I'm not judging him off it alone either.
-
Serious question: those of you that think that he's "just serviceable", have you watched the last 3 weeks? Have you watched any other teams? I'm just not really getting it. It's too early to say he's some franchise saving QB, but he's balling. And being let down by his supporting cast or he'd be 4-2 since coming back.
-
Sure but he was a running back, not a WR
-
XL had a completely terrible game.
-
Legette fuging dropped that, it was a fuging TD
-
That's a TD, come on. fuging refs man - if TDs are auto reviewed why not err on the side of the TD?
-
I am about putting the best teams in, and if you can't make it to your conference championship game and you're not very high rated, why should you go? What was Texas' rating before the championship game? That tells you about their season.
-
I don't think you should kick a team out that plays in its championship game if it was highly ranked going into it.
-
Yup... It's actually insane if SMU misses the playoffs given their ranking last week. It'd be different if you were talking a team ranked right on the bubble going in... But playoffs should be about this season alone and not past glory. SMU should be in.

Bryce Young: The NFL's Most Aggressive Quarterback in 2024?
mav1234 replied to NAS's topic in Carolina Panthers
I do agree on getting open. Getting open isn't all there is to receiving tho. Moore and XL are not catching the balls they should. XL is still learning depth of routes in the red zone. It's why we do move the ball well but have some red zone issues still. Honestly tho this is a much better group than last year - with imo much better coaching. And Sanders and Coker are to me very promising from a young player perspective. XL too, but he's a bit more raw seeming.
