Coming into this game he was something insane like #9 in the NFL for yards per target. He's legit, and imo he'll only get better with an offseason with Bryce. I don't know what his ceiling is, but it's really exciting that we have him and JT Sanders to grow with Bryce

We had 3 TD drives of 70+ yards and 5 of 50+, we didn't exactly have a lot of short fields.

I still think he played well vs Arizona though. I'm not saying it was EXCEPTIONAL play, it wasn't. But it was solid QB play. But what you highlight is why, though I am excited for next year, I'm not "sold" on him in the same way as some people. We have basically half a year of solid to good play from him over 2 years. That's not really enough to rely on long term IMO. But luckily we get to see him evaluated next year, too.

I agree with this, but I do not honestly believe that is what happened going into Year 1 with Reich. That might just be... Reich, lol I think Dalton is also kinda done. I'd like to see us upgrade our backup because, as we've seen all around the NFL, with a longer season starts ARE missing a game or two per year and so having that better backup could pay dividends there. But we have too many holes for a luxury investment there of course.

That is when I felt we needed to say goodbye to Evero, haha.

This drive has had a healthy dose of run game, I think the Vikings are realizing what is going on in this game lol
-
Yup, I think that Oconnell was trying to force Darnold to settle down with passes - but I think the way to do it is with the run game and play action

A lot of us saying we "want competition in camp" don't mean we want to invest a lot of capital or don't think Bryce is our #1, we just want to go into camp with a new QB room that Canales picks, and have the guys all try to push each other to get better. It isn't even about something like saying Young "has to earn" his #1 position - He already has. I just want a new QB room and a coach that has those guys pushing each other. With longer seasons I think it makes sense to have that, too.
-
He's been much better at Minnesota at avoiding that stuff, I think Oconnell settles him down somehow.
-
Lost the challenge and the conversion, wow.

They need to settle Darnold down with some play action IMO, he's just not on his game atm.

I'd say Bryce has been pretty consistently good since the bye, tbh. The Cowboys game was bad, and he didn't always play *exceptional* football, but he was good enough for us to win every game by the DAL game IMO with an average defense. That is pretty good for a 2nd year player coming off the worst rookie year in history. But yeah, people rushing to crown him over all-time Panther greats... I just want to see him keep building. Today was exceptional, and I'm excited for next year.

This Vikings D is so damn good...
-
Probably, it looked like the back grabbed him as he broke towards the pylon, but I may be wrong. Didn't see a good replay of it
-
Jefferson was held, that wasn't on Darnold. But if he missed Addison open in the end zone, it is
-
Too focused on Jefferson? I didn't see who you're talking about but I'd not be surprised. I like Sam a lot but he loses the field sometimes.
-
Helps when the refs miss a hold in the endzone, haha
-
Goddamn Jefferson is so good, and Darnold standing in to take a hit!
-
Darnold just not looking very good overall
-
Then misses a wide open TE for a 25 yard gain...

It is not shitting on Bryce to say he hasn't yet gotten to the point of being "as clutch" as Jake. Jake did it for multiple seasons. His first season as magical - something Bryce hasn't achieved yet. That isn't shitting on Bryce, get the fug out of here with that, lol
-
The defense was abysmal for both QBs. There was a stretch (NO2, NYG, KC, TB1, PHI) where the D was playing better, but for both QBs there was a 4 game stretch of 30+ point 'performances' by the D. As to the D helping, they did a bit. But BY also had 3 TD drives >70 yards, and 2 that were 58 yards.

NFL Network just said a minute ago it was because Vrabel was interviewing with the Jets and Kraft didn't want to lose an opportunity to grab him up.
-
We don't have the personnel to execute his scheme - but instead of adjusting at all (e.g. moving Horn or Jackson to other teams #1s) he simply let them play and ugh. I think Evero may have been just going through the motions a bit too, but he also has the least talent on D available I've ever seen on a team. I think he's a good coordinator overall, but it's time to move on.

Smitty wasn't Smitty when Jake took over, and while he benefited tremendously from a great defense, we haven't seen Bryce in any of the situations we saw Jake. All the hypotheticals in the world don't change the fact that Jake had 7 game winning drives in one season and took a team that had finished last in the NFC South to within a drive of winning the Super Bowl. I'm excited about Bryce and hopefully a better D will lead to the kind of results you think they will, but that just hasn't happened yet and I just don't get the need to stretch a good 10 games from Bryce to being one of the Panthers all-time greats.
