Cable TV is essential a zero latency data network. Very different from streaming/internet connections. They can push 4k to millions easier than streaming can. Keeping it on cable is a good way to trial run a big event in 4k.

He and a lot of other people on that show get residuals. They need people to pay for stuff or they get less. Creators just agreed on a new CBA which they are happy with. They get nothing if people pirate the shows and movies they work on. You’re right that they should get more. But if you’re actively doing things that take money from creators, you are no different than those executives you complain about. You’re just another greedy person taking from their hard word.

Those studies said people wouldn’t have consumed most of those games/movies/songs had they not pirated them BUT the studies also made it clear that those people were not buying anything BUT would have purchased something if downloading for free wasn’t an option. Basically, people downloaded everything they could when it was free and never intended to pay for anything. Once they had to pay, they purchased what they really wanted and didn’t consume what they didn’t care enough to buy. Long story short, pirating stuff and saying it’s ok because the creator ‘gets exposure’ is wrong unless that creator is ok with it.

Theft is theft. Even if the people you’re stealing from aren’t compensated fairly. “Yeah, it’s 100% cool to rob that store. Most of the profit goes to the manufacturers anyway.” Your theft ensures those creators get nothing. If you don’t like it, then don’t consume the content. That’s the ethical thing to do.

No, I’m 100% for bypassing compensation mechanisms to steal from those who are trying to feed their families with their content. Same with ad blockers. Totally ethical. Whatever is best for me and my wallet.

Linear TV is dead. Mergers like this are typically the last gasps of dying industries as they fight to stay alive. I don’t know if you have kids, but very very few under 18 have ever watched ‘network’ tv outside of sports. Pro and college sports will eventually go direct with their own streaming platforms.

Watched the vid again. TD says he’s ‘looking forward to the opportunity’.

I thought this was an interesting exchange. TD thanks Canales for ‘the opportunity’. He asks Canales to let him know if he can send him anything to help him and Canales says “mindset, mentality, you know what I mean?”. He says it as if he’s already asked TD to prepare something for him. Probably a very small thing, but it’s nice if TD is getting involved to get these players on track.

I don’t know this obviously, but they may have been told to not talk about current players. They didn’t mention anyone on the roster. If Dan shares their view of team culture, I think we’re about to see Dan bring in a lot of older vets from winning teams.

I hope Dan laid out just how depleted this roster is and how long it will take to fix. It’s very likely BY looks better next year. That will buy everyone another year at the very least. This group is here as long as BY is here.

I’ve gotten the sense the past few years that Burns is a bit of a cancer. He’s not leading in the right direction.

Do you guys not remember the pre season games? The team was sleepwalking and looked poorly coached. Zero energy. Even the guys fighting for a roster spot. Whatever was wrong, it was wrong before the season began.

Brady will bring ratings due to novelty. I can’t see him doing this year in and year out though.
