I’d be down for this trade https://lastwordonsports.com/nfl/2024/01/31/brian-burns-trade-ravens-panthers/#:~:text=According to an article by,quest for the Lombardi Trophy. Hypothetical Trade We’d Love to See: EDGE Brian Burns for 2024 first-round pick, 2025 third-round pick and EDGE David Ojabo Ballentine’s proposed tag-and-trade with Baltimore would actually be a tremendous deal for both teams. The Ravens would get a more proven pass-rusher than Devid Ojabo, while Carolina would refill its draft cache.

Honestly we still would need some work . We need a couple years of that IMO.

Then it’s simply a timing issue. The video I posted had Burton in stride while having good coverage on him. His arm has the ability to get it to his target. He will need muscle memory and timing to zero in on accuracy if you are saying that’s the issue. Hell I’ve seen QBs with cannons struggle with deep passes.
-
That’s different when you are talking about a physical ability of a player. He needs “5-6 yards and a running start” to throw the ball 40 yards but he didn’t in college. Also he doesn’t if they are open? It’s some flawed logic. You could argue he doesn’t have the confidence to attempt it or the play calling/protection is preventing him from doing so, but saying he flat out can’t when he has is just not right. At the end of the day he is getting the ball from point A to point B and it’s hitting it spot on without all the requirements you were suggesting.

Yeah, I’m not sure why people can’t grasp this very simple concept. I guess it doesn’t fit a certain narrative? I’m not saying he has a great arm, just he has the ability to air it out if you can give him some time. I’m liking the new excuse of a player being open?? So if a player is open Young’s arm magically gets stronger??
-
You are talking about the ability to throw a deep pass lol you can just put on blinders because it doesn’t fit your narrative.
-
The second one was NFL. Thats a Panthers uniform. Also the “ability” to throw a deep pass, which is what’s in question here, doesn’t magically change based on where you are playing. Arm strength is what it is. It doesn’t go away in the pros.
-
Burton wasn’t in the Alabama clip. Being open also doesn’t magically change someone’s arm strength lol. It can either get there or not on time. Let’s all some more addendums until we get it right.
-
Just shows he CAN lob it up when needed. Yes he needs a pocket like many do and he steps into his deep throws again like many other do. I think we got use to Cam with his top tier arm and watching a QB with a lower tier arm is making it look exaggerated to us Panther fans.
-
I simply don’t agree with that. He needs to step into his throw for the deep passes yes, but the rest of this is an overreaction. https://www.panthers.com/video/must-see-young-s-48-yard-pass-to-hurst-is-qb-s-longest-nfl-completion-so-far

Throwing deep doesn’t really mean you have a strong arm though. That’s my point. Deep passes are typically WR stats IMO. He can just air it out and let the deep threat go get it. It’s simply a timing thing. It’s why Foles and Minshew got Chark his only 1000 yard season. This all reminds me of the fans mocking Hill for signing to play with Tua. Thinking his arm was too weak was a popular opinion but it turns out it was irrelevant. Do people think Bryce was always running full speed when he would lob it up to Jamo in college? Hell early on this past year he was overthrowing WRs deep. It’s simply timing.
-
No they both have weaker NFL arms. I’d say Tua and Burrow have below average NFL starting QB arms. Burrow did a lot of work after his rookie year to develop more velocity in his throws and it’s still on the weaker side. I’ve posted articles on how his playing style and accuracy has helped offset his weaker NFL arm.
-
Chark’s best seasons featured Foles and Minshew throwing him passes. Again showing arm strength isn’t needed for deep threats. Tua and Hill have created great chemistry and timing together.
-
Vertical threats don’t really matter with arm strength. Tua and Burrow have weaker arms but Hill and Chase can track down deep balls they air out.

I need to hear it from Ryan Leaf…

4th or later sounds right. I’d be ok if we traded back in the 3rd for him. He is long and fast. Route running can be polished up, his speed, size, and natural ability can’t.
-
He looked great and UNC most of the year though. He really opened up their offense when he was activated.
-
He has speed and good hands. 4th round or later and I’m good. 3rd maybe if we trade down.

Stroud was my top choice and if I remember correctly he was the most popular on the polls here. I thought he had highest floor due being the best pure passer. Young did seem like the QB teams would regret passing up due to his “magic” and clutch gene, plus most analysts had him as QB1. AR was the 3rd option with the crazy high ceiling but highest chance of busting. I’m definitely intrigued to see what Bryce can do if we actually put some protection, weapons, and solid coaching around him. I’m not writing him off yet and I’m also not overly attached to him or anyone on this roster.

Exactly. People on here trying to rewrite history to make us look bad. We can make ourselves look bad without all that nonsense! Here is the May 2022 way to early mock with Young leading the way… https://www.pff.com/news/draft-way-too-early-2023-nfl-mock-draft-alabamas-bryce-young-houston-texans-no-1-overall

Bryce was QB1 on a load of boards before the S2 info. I mean we can pull up mocks and draft boards before that test was released. It doesn’t mean he was the right choice but there is no need try to create a narrative that isn’t accurate. We gave into the hype like many experts did. What confuses people here is that the Huddle as a group always leaned Stroud but the media leaned Young all the way back to the year before the draft honestly.

You are missing the point. The Niners traded for him and immediately started him. That means whoever was their prior was viewed as not as good by Wilks the DC. So that’s called an upgrade or at least Wilks viewed him as an upgrade. I believe Young had 2 sacks in the big game when they were only bringing 4 rushers as well.
