Even if they wanted Young there are limits to that want. They weren’t going to pay out to move up one spot, especially when you have someone like Stroud sitting there at two. They preferred one no doubt but we’re willing to pick whoever dropped and use some assets to trade back up for Anderson. QB2 plus Anderson was better than QB1 and no Anderson. We absolutely overpaid for Young and left him with nothing on offense. We gave up too much, picked the lesser of the 2 QBs, and put him in a worse spot. Great job Carolina…

Looks like the author throws up 3 different theories. The only thing we definitely know is they didn’t agree with the value of trading up to 1. Alas, the Texans averted from the plan in place. Clearly, they either believed the Panthers would take Young and they could get their guy with the No. 2 pick. Or, they were satisfied with drafting whoever the Panthers didn't take at quarterback. Maybe, however, they weren't satisfied with the price they would have to pay in the trade.

Maybe Steve Smith actually did draft Mingo
ForJimmy replied to Frank9999's topic in Carolina Panthers
He has said he doesn’t get paid by Carolina. Whether it’s true or not is just guessing. You have to think he was all about Young and Mingo so naturally he is going to be pretty defensive about their play. -
Ground player of the week is Singletary. Yeah I’d love for one of our RBs to do that. Stroud can be currently better than Young AND be in a better situation. Both things can be true despite what people want to believe.

BREAKING: Panthers cut starting O-lineman

Are we doing the Arby’s package Wilks installed last year? Maybe that will slow down Parsons… -
BREAKING: Panthers cut starting O-lineman
ForJimmy replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
God I hope so. His last few games were pretty bad and they can’t use the scheme excuse for him because he was drafted after we picked Young… -
I really don't understand the argument. If Dalton can do that every game then he would have an historic season. So is the argument Fitt did a great job with this roster and Reich is such a great play caller that they can make Dalton look awesome and our only issue is Young is so terrible he ruins this great team? OR maybe just maybe Seattle was an outlier and we went all in on passing the ball due to their secondary being in shambles which still resulted in 6.2 YPA and 27 points in a loss...
-
Nah according to the sample size of 1 Dalton is good for 361 yards 2 TDs and 0 INTS. Average that out over 17 games and he is great. 6137 yards, 34 TDs, and 0 INTs. All variables aside since that how we are looking at it. We have ourselves a GOAT!

The Seattle game was 20-37 and Seattle played prevent with a banged up secondary. Dalton threw his last TD to AT with 1:40 left it's also where a chunk of his yards came from (75 yard drive). YPA tell the story more than total yards. We threw it 58 times that game, unless you are wanting 5 YPA (which Bryce gets when he is playing terrible) then you better have over 300 yards. 6.22 is where Dalton landed that game. So if Young scores early the defense is asleep, if it's late it's because it's prevent defense? Dalton's TD under the last 2 minutes while being down by 17 counts right, or was that prevent defense too? I'm trying to take notes so I can follow... At the end of the day the goal of the offense is to score points. Young's TOs against Detroit are fair game but Miami still sits as is.
-
We were too one dimensional (probably because Seattle's secondary was banged up) to sustain any kind of success. Throwing the ball 58 times for 27 points and a loss isn't ideal for any team much less a QB that is over the hill...
-
I'm not sure Caldwell wants it. He is mainly just an advisor at this point...

It was a good game by Dalton, but I mean his average YPA was meh (just like Young's). We put up 27 points which is our highest but Young put up 24 and 21 his last two games before Brown took over play calling in half the amount of attempts. I get that points are points but you are talking about a 3 point swing from Young's best game. I'd rather keep letting the rookie get reps to see if he can get better or not. A couple extra wins with Dalton doesn't do much for us. Plus Dalton had some good games last year with NO and some stinkers. It's kind of where he is at now in his career.

Yeah he knows his days are numbered. It's a panic move.

So it went from Ryans set up his team to better help his QB to people saying Stroud has an all star cast? No one thinks Houston has an "All Star cast" on here, but it's hard to argue Houston has done a better job building a more complete team than we have. I mean the whole NFL has done a better job. Just like it's hard to argue against Stroud being the better QB right now. Neither one are particularly close IMO.

I'd be ok with Hollywood Brown. We will probably have to overpay though...

Should we sign Michael Carter since he was cut by the NY Jets?

Carter has good hands. He would immediately be our best receiving back. -
The Athletic insider floats Bill O'Brien to Panthers as OC
ForJimmy replied to Dorian Gray's topic in Carolina Panthers
In his defense he had a wide ass open TE for the game winning TD and Jones just missed it completely. The OC did his job there the QB just couldn't deliver. -
The Athletic insider floats Bill O'Brien to Panthers as OC
ForJimmy replied to Dorian Gray's topic in Carolina Panthers
It would require Reich to step away from the offense and let Bill implement his. I'm not sure if Reich is capable of doing that... The only reason is makes sense is it prevents Young from having to learn a 3 offense so soon if we decide to change things up at all. -
Hurst might miss the game with his concussion, but Ian Thomas is back. I hope Thomas doesn't take time away from Tremble as he is my favorite TE on the roster right now.

Schultz over Hurst

BREAKING: Panthers cut starting O-lineman

He has some nice hands for a RB which we need. -
Missed on Corral/Wilson. Nailed it on Mahomes/Stroud. Also it's not like he wasn't high on Young. He just loved Stroud and rightfully so. https://www.skysports.com/nfl/news/12118/12865148/2023-nfl-draft-chris-simms-top-five-quarterback-prospects
