  1. OK this is a little bit comical as well... So people are critiquing Young's passing chart and rightfully so but they can't look at other QB's charts for comparison? He needs to connect on some big passes, I will say on his one deep attempt he was hit and couldn't throw a good pass due to it, so OL is absolutely part of the issue. On the counter Howell might have a worse OL and he manages to connect on several of those deep passes (he also has a cannon for an arm which helps). We need to continue to attempt 2 plus deep ones a game and hopefully connect on several. I think everyone agrees on that.
  2. I think the point is a couple deep shots a game (especially if they are close) makes the defense have to respect it, because if they don't that's a TD. It's something we can incorporate with Young. We need a running game and a nice PA bootleg deep to Chark would be nice since our guards are struggling in pass protection.
  3. That makes waaaaay more sense if true. Whenever I watch him play he is running for his life like he did his last year in college. So "pocket time" is kind of a dumb measurement which can look better if your QB is more mobile.
  4. True. You have to keep the defense honest.
  5. Actually not at all. It’s weird that he has MORE pocket time and way more sacks. To be clear I like Howell and was for us drafting him. Those stats were just odd to me.
  6. According to the data Howell has more pocket time on average though. That’s what’s weird?
  7. He has a great deep ball but those numbers pulled by @BrianS were eye opening. He has been sacked 34 times with an average pocket time of 2.5 seconds. That’s just mind boggling to me..
  8. We are waaaaay ahead of ourselves but it would probably be Reich "stepping down" or retiring maybe with some office job with the Panthers. Parks Frazier or Deuce Staley could become OC under Brown.
  9. If Tepper is micromanaging as much as we say he is on here Frank will just resign and I wouldn't blame him. I'm not saying it's wrong, but if Tepper MADE Frank draft Young and is dictating who calls the plays, no one can operate like that.
  10. That was my fault. He posted CBs and I read it as secondary. Yeah like looks like we have 33 players plus 6 draft picks so 39 with 63 plus cap space plus 151 plus cap space in 25 to work with.
  11. At least we have some cap space to spend for a change. I wouldn't be against extended YGM for cheap if he is willing. He has shown some potential this year. Both Woods and Bell being gone stings definitely. Our CBs outside of Horn are mostly practice squad players (Hill might be a good cheap extension/resign). I feel like we signed a bunch of rentals this year intentionally knowing we will have some space in 2024. I mean we are the only winless team right now, and there isn't many players we really need to bring back.
  12. I agree with a lot of what you are saying, but Stroud was the Huddle favorite and it wasn't that close. It was Stroud, Young, and only a couple Richardson fans (most were just intrigued by him but admitted he was a risk). After Carolina decided we were taking Young the pendulum swung back to Young, but that's just fans being fans.
  13. Maybe but they also decided Stroud wasn't the guy either. I wonder how they feel about passing up him as their next QB and flipping Fields for picks.
  14. I would lean draft Caleb Williams, but if some team offers us a stupid trade (which they probably would) then it would be hard to turn down. Fill our roster holes and give Young another chance makes the most sense.
  15. A ton of info to digest. Thanks for doing the dirty work and lining it up for us! So Sam Howell has MORE time in the pocket and has been sacked 34 times?!? That just seems crazy to me because he is pretty mobile. Also how exactly is pocket time calculated? Time in the pocket without pressure or is it just time in the pocket in general? I feel like Young and Howell for example are shifting around in the pocket trying to buy more time and someone like Lawrence or Goff are just letting it rip. Granted we are talking about tenths of a second so it's probably not noticeable to the naked eye. Another thing to consider while glancing at the number of pressures and sacks is Bryce has only played 5 games vs most of their 6 and I am curious to know how many snaps/series. Just a total would estimate him at 19.2 which would tie him at 4th with Russ/Ridder/Wilson and co. I feel like pressure per drop back or sacks per drop back would tell a better story of the OL protection. I'll definitely have to read more of it when I have more time...
  16. No one thinks he is putting up 40 with this roster. If he can go then ahead and promote him now. We are looking for an offense that has a pulse. How about at least 3 whole offensive TDs for starters. Hopefully we see an up-tempo offense in rhythm that gives us some hope and possibly a win. Also we only have one OG coming back this year our other starter won't be.
  17. I don't think they were "in love" with him. I think he was their preference, but they weren't willing to part with what we did for him. DJ Moore on a decent contract was a big selling point for the Bears. At one point they mentioned the number 2 pick was for sale, but again who knows what is true or not. Also I don't doubt teams had Young off their boards. Any team wanting to have their QB under center most of the time or use their QB as a runner shouldn't consider Young. I just don't think the Texans were one of those teams. Shefter and Glazer are pretty solid sources IMO. I don't see one that says the Texans never had Young on their board?
  18. https://nypost.com/2023/04/13/2023-nfl-draft-adam-schefter-calls-bryce-youngs-texans-visit-a-waste/ “I think Bryce Young is going to be the No. 1 pick. [The Texans] are not going to have a chance to take the guy that, I think, they would have liked to have taken.” Schefter also thinks they wanted him.
  19. This is definitely part of it. We have at least 14 points scored by the defense Franklin at Minnesota and Hill this past Sunday as well. Plus we have been turning it over regularly aside from last game. Is also doesn't help that our best CB, both Safeties, and MLB have been injured most of the season.
  20. I'm going to tell my grandchildren about those two TDs one day.
  21. With Bryce being a smaller (smallest) QB we might want to slide Icky over to LG and draft a more nimble LT. OGs are possibly more important to shorter QBs than OTs are. Icky would be a great LG IMO. The sad thing is this is actually what that PantherKing guy was saying before the season started... You know who I am talking about.
