New Coach Thread 2: Electric Boogaloo

Well then I stand corrected. Hopefully we stay away from Moore… McCarthy didn’t have these issues at GB so that leaves Moore as the possible issue. -

I love all the interviews. At worst they are picking the minds of a bunch of potential HCs about which direction our franchise should go. Moore is getting a lot of criticism here, but last play aside I mostly saw Dak struggling. The play calling wasn’t the issue IMO. -

Yeah his name shouldn’t even be mentioned when talking to HC candidates. If he some how works out it’s a great bonus, but right now we need an answer at the QB position that isn’t dependent on a previous coach’s 3rd round rookie who was on IR all year. -
If you knew he would turn out the same way he is now it honestly would be tempting. There is just no way to know that. I’m not a fan of 3 first round picks for a “sure thing” rookie QB, much less 4 and some. The biggest concern would be him possibly saving Rhule’s job as already mentioned.
-
If one of these creative OCs become our next coach and draft AR it will get very interesting! If the top 2 QBs are gone I want AR.
-
Can you trade 4 years of picks?
-
Sounds like Tepper let him walk away unlike Rhule which is good.

When it's Sam his guys aren't open, when it's Fields he can't throw. Crying about Sam's WRs and ignoring Fields' weapons. Good logic....
-
Dorsey and Moore makes sense, but Kafka did a great job considering the roster he was dealing with.
-
I am a huge Fields fanboy and would love if Chicago was dumb enough to trade him. With that said I don't think we should give up TWO first round picks for him. Number 9 should more than do the trick IMO.

Yep, but still get a 2nd plus conditional because of potential... The Washington Commanders can package a top-50 pick and a conditional 2024 pick to roll the dice on Lance. If he starts 80% of the Commanders’ snaps in 2023, it becomes a second-round pick. Furthermore, it would increase to a 2024 first-round pick if Washington makes the playoffs and Lance meets the snaps threshold. Considering Lance’s rushing ability, he could be an ideal fit for the offense Ron Rivera wants the Commanders to use moving forward.

This breaks down Lance being traded to the Commanders https://sportsnaut.com/nfl-quarterback-trades-2023/ If Purdy becomes the 49ers’ starting quarterback next season, receiving overwhelming support from the locker room and coaching staff, Lance could try and force his way out. While San Francisco could keep him, the 2023 offseason might be its last opportunity to trade him and still receive quality compensation in return. San Francisco 49ers receive: 47th overall pick, conditional. 2024 third-round pick Washington Commanders receive: Trey Lance Lance isn’t worth a first-round pick at this point. He remains unproven and the reports out of training camp suggested there were still alarming accuracy problems. With only 102 career pass attempts in the NFL, another season spent backing up Purdy would further hurt his trade value.
-
And NO uses that pick to jump and and acquire Maye/Williams in 24 to play against us for the next decade plus...
-
Right now I would say he hasn't had an adequate opportunity (injuries suck). So it would be a big question mark just like any other draft pick. Purdy fits more of the Jones/Pickett mold where he can come in and play right away and look decent, but that's probably his ceiling as well. However, that's what they need in San Fran (it's why Shanahan probably wanted Mac Jones at 3). They are needing to win now with their complete roster. We need a young QB that can grow and develop in our offense with our new HC.

If he 7th round rookie is undefeated then that completely changes the scenario. Sometimes you can find your QB by dumb luck. Not playing due to IR is completely different that not playing due to performance. Like I stated the Niners went into the season with Lance and their guy, he went to IR then Jimmy G came back, he went to IR and they were what a 500 team?? Enter this "7th round rookie" and they haven't lost a game yet....
-
I kind of like AR, especially if we get the right OC, but to me Lance could be a very similar prospect for a fraction of the draft cost. If we could get AR in the 2nd I would be very happy, but as you stated he will get over drafted because he is a QB.
-
So you don't want to draft a QB in rounds 1 or 2?
-
Teddy played much better with a worse OL, (CMC was on IR), same weapons, and a worse HC. Keep crying about Darnold shitting the bed like he always does, but the truth is Teddy is a much better QB than Sam. That’s where Sam in at after year 5. Below Teddy in the backup/bridge QB market.
-
If a rookie steps in for your injured starter and doesn’t lose then you probably roll with him next year as well. Lance is on IR and Purdy hasn’t lost. What can Lance possibly do to stop Purdy from being the guy going forward. Purdy is the more pro ready young QB so he fits perfectly where they are as a team (win now mode). I do understand being skeptical, which is why I’m saying a 2nd or 3rd for him.

I was just posting this!

The Pats picked a 6th round QB over former top pick Bledsoe. Sometimes you just strike gold. That didn’t mean Bledsoe was bad… If they win the Super Bowl with him it’s going to be hard to bench him for Lance. If they are in win now mode they don’t need a developmental QB in Lance as a backup. They need a vet to step him and steady the ship if needed.
-
No but if Purdy is their guy and they spent a 7th on him they are coming out ok.
-
Lol when he was “winning” our running game was carrying his ass. When our run gets shut down and we have to rely on your boy Sam you get a 2.8 QB rating….
-
He was a top 3 pick so he still hits the cap at 9 and 10 million over the next 2 years. The dead cap might outweigh those numbers though. They also have no picks in this draft so if they want to build around their core they could use the capital. Also they might prefer to have a nice vet QB to help with Purdy’s development. It probably won’t happen, but we are just responding to the story that was “leaked.”
-
So many excuses for a 2.8 rating .
